Predatory UX, Deceptive Trial Parameters, and Obfuscated Billing Infrastructure

Google Cloud is currently employing highly deceptive front-end architecture designed to trap new users into unsubsidized API debt. The platform advertises a flat '$300 Free Trial Credit' with zero front-facing warnings or asterisks indicating that this credit is explicitly walled off from the Gemini Developer API (AI Studio).

Users are actively encouraged to begin testing models under the false premise that the $300 credit is absorbing the compute cost. The UI completely fails to display a real-time burn rate against the user's actual card until hard debt has already been accrued. When the system predictably flags the account, it leverages a broken payment verification loop, demanding manual deposits (under the guise of 'activation') that are immediately consumed by the hidden debt rather than unlocking the promised trial funds.

This is not a technical glitch; it is a calculated dark pattern. It operates as a bait-and-switch scheme, functionally extracting unauthorized capital by intentionally misguiding users on credit applicability. I am officially disputing these charges as deceptive billing practices. Proceed with extreme caution and audit your billing ledgers daily; the advertised trial is a structural trap."

+ stabile Server

Nach AWS dachte ich schlimmer gehts nichtmehr ... dann kam Google Cloud Service.

Terrible google cloud support

Terrible google cloud support. We got caught in a loop for 3 weeks trying to avoid the Gemini Loop, and get to a human sales rep. When found one, they couldnt help us at all, even though we've been loyal and paying customers for +4 years.

I built a small Gemini app thinking it was free to experiment with and that I was using credits. I didn’t deploy anything “to the cloud” (as far as I understood), but I used an API and ended up being charged about £240 over a few days. The pricing/credit situation wasn’t clear to a beginner, and it’s very easy to rack up costs quickly without realising. Support wasn’t able to help much after the fact.
If you’re new, be extremely careful with billing and quotas before testing, or consider an alternative tool with clearer cost controls.

Terrible charged me 24$ when I didnt even use anything of value what happened to the customer is always right?? I feel like there charging me because they made the service free because theyre charging on things that only visited and tracking my activity to know when there is money. SO they can only get the money for themselfs.

I LOST ALL MY IMPORTANT FOTOS of my 1 year old son. I bought the new Google Pixel 8 pro mobilephone, and 1,5 year later the screen suddenly went black. Then I took the SIM card in my boyfriends phone and login to my Google account and took a back-up twice in the Google One cloud, two days later I send the phone to repair, and around 5-6 days later suddenly all my photos from 2025 went missing, and also the Google fotos from my boyfriends phone got mixed to my phone. I have talk with the so called Google support over 14 days, the response is awefull, they keep mixing my story wrong and blame it on me. Im so mad! I cant get a proper explanation on what happened to my photos, and why my boyfriends photos got on my Google fotos account? ALL my videos and photos of my first son is gone. I will not recommend their products, phone, cloud store, Google fotos and their services.

Una plataforma inentendible, no hay forma de ver nada todo son enlaces de propaganda, nada funciona, ni recaptcha ni nada, una pérdida de tiempo absoluta, nada está bien explicado, una forma de trabajar incomprensible, no sabes donde estas, no ves lo que tienes, lo que haces, etc.

Unlimited expenses

The inhability to stablish hard limits for expenses in pay-as-you-go services is predatory. I understand that is targeted to avoid service interruptions, but there must be a hard limit option to stablish some cuantity avobe wich a business cannot continue operating.

Billing Alerts are great for BAU expenses, to have awareness about them, but a hard limit should be available to manage exceptional situations. It grants peace of mind, and I think this is a very extended pain point of google cloud users, that seems to be unattended to take advantage of users mistakes.

Clearly damages brand reputation in adition to drive many users out of the google cloud platform.

I would say this optional hard limits should be stablished by project and service used, but at least a global limit is basic. The "solution" provided by the documentation of creating your own custom function is a joke, as pushes to the user the responsability of the correct configuration of that limit. This should be a contract-level guarantee.

Does not work

My Google Cloud does not work anymore because Google has disabled my billing. I have changed Credit Cards so have attempted to remove the old card and enter the new one. Instead Google tries to force you to validate your cancelled card, but as this is not possible, they have disabled my account. Trying to get support is impossible, you get sent in endless loops that keeps taking you back to force you to verify a card that no longer exists. They do not allow you to submit a Billing Support ticket until you first verify the non existent card. Whoever developed this platform has no common sense.

ABSOLUTELY THE WORST CLOUD PROVIDER OF ALL OF THEM OUT THERE. ABYSMAL STEPS TO JUST GET A SINGLE API KEY THAT WORKS WITH A SINGLE PRODUCT ON GOOGLE CLOUD.

YOU CANNOT ASK THE END USER TO GO THROUGH 10 PAGES AND 20 CLICKS TO GET A SINGLE API KEY FOR THE SIMPLEST SERVICE LIKE TRANSLATIONS. YOU WILL BE OBSOLETE.

I have been charged 20 pound while i have around 200 pound credit. They hidden their customers service like cowards . I couldnt even reach a human to talk too or email after half hour absolutely ridiculous. Am i supposed to wast 2 hour to get 20 pound back from company that rich you know what i am just giving you 1 star left and right every where instead that is more productive than wasting 2 hour trying to reach you or talk to your idiot chat bot
