Coals2U Avis 

I have been on the Coals2U and Homefire emailing list for a few years. I ordered 12 bags of Brazier smokeless fuel on Saturday 28th Oct. I then looked at the mixed reviews. Coals2U emailed confirmation of the order and saying the delivery would be take up to 10 days. The order arrived today(4 days later). I was texted details of where the delivery vehicle; was and the driver placed them in our front garden (as requested). I have checked a bag: it is solid smokeless fuel with no dust. I am really sorry about the bad experiences of other customers but I have no complaints and the Coals2U price is extremely good value for money.

No loyalty. Poor customer service team on phone. We are regular customers & shortly after delivery they reduced items approximately 33%! Refused to match price. Now they are being difficult to return the overpriced items even though they have 14 day money back guarantee return policy. Useless company. Manager refused to come to phone! Woman on phone compared my problem with going ton Tesco!!

I have put a complaint into Coals2U office(CHESTERFIELD ) as our last delivery of coal £175 was delivered wringing wet making it difficult both ignite and burn.)
Emma kindly called today from Coals2U to inform me that the coal delivered was indeed a heavily discounted price due to the fact it’s basically …Car’nt quite remember her terminology….( rubbish left) and is damped down to contain the coal dust.
If that’s the case why have other delivery’s not had the same faults…..She said it WOULD HAVE!….Thanks Emma excellent customer service and a defernate reason NOT TO BUY FROM COALS2U ever again…

Used them twice, notified twice that order would be delivered and a time slot given, twice let down!

First excuse driver sick, second excuse lorry broken down...

I would not advise anyone use these at all, rubbish service!

Pity I did not read reviews first... what a joke of a company

Absolutely diabolical service. Rang for update, repeated chants about delivery "being out of their hands". 10 day delivery is a load of rubbish.
Told I was having a delivery on a certain date, didn't show and more "its put of their hands " drivial from a bored monotoned tele person.
Dreading what is actually going to turn up, if it turns up?
On the plus side, money went out rom my account ASAP!

I orderd smokeless coal from them November 2022 the first bag I opend was soaking wet , tries a second bag , the same, have cotacted them a number of times was esencialy told to make holes in all the bags to dry it out!! It will not dry out like this its sodden. Do not use this company they have been very unhelpfull and just given excuses. they have a gurrantee of refund on the website but its a lie!

Always ordered from Fergusson , no problems, This company deliverd quickly. Same as others expereince ordered 4 bags all were 1/3 full of dust. Dealt with politely on the phone but all they could offer me was a discount on further purchase.

Absolutely abysmal. After waiting a week for my coal, I rang them on Friday morning to find out why the delay and was assured it would be delivered on Monday. I stayed in all day Monday, but no delivery. Rang Tuesday and was told it was on the lorry for delivery todeay. It wasn't. I don't like being lied to so I cancelled my order and asked for a refund. I then ordered from another company nearby and they arrived when they stated they would, and I also saved £20 on the similar product that they provided.

As my usual local coal merchant was just too expensive I ordered from coals2u as they were the most cost effective item and was very happy with the service. My first order was for ten bags brazier which arrived within the ten working days and my second order was delivered$ today and they even emptied into bunker. I was at home but did t hear them, the driver just got on with it. Probably won’t need any more coal this season but will definitely use again next winter

Length of time for delivery, blamed snow in Sheffield, Never answered phone on any of the numbers or companies supplied....blamed snow in Sheffield. It never snowed before then, remember 1962/3, no mobile phones, no e mails, no 4 x 4 's except Land Rovers but things just carried on. Snowflake Generation, with snowflake excuses for very poor service. I could have driven 2 miles and got the same product at the same price but thought I was doing myself a favour !! How very wrong can a body be ?

For the last 5 years I have always purchased home fire smokeless coal and had no problem with it. late last year and early this year that has all changed. It refuses to light, the heat it gives off is negligible and the amount of ash it creates is phenomenal. Two small buckets of coal created 1 stone of ash, 14 pounds or 6kg. It completely clogged up the grate. Coal has one purpose, and one purpose only, Homefire fails on all counts.

ordered my smokeless fuel on 14th jan, 10 bags of 10kg brazier and 4bags of 25kg homefire ovals, which went easy. I had no confirmation email of order and even to this day it shows still processing on my website account. phoned them on the 20th to get some info and was told its out for delivery in the morning! I explained we had to be at hospital all morn to mid afternoon and I was going to ask for redelivery on another day but my son said he would stay in as it was his day off work. brill!
delivery driver never rang bell or knocked on door, my son watched them throw/drop from waist height the rest of bags onto tarmac drive and left invoice wedged in dustbin lid, letterbox was only 10ft away.
the bags were dry I'm pleased to say.
the delivery couldve taken weeks, I wouldnt mind if I was kept informed and updated.
given the climate we are in, having home deliveries more and more, coals2u seem to be in the dark ages with customer liaison and could learn a thing or two from other companies.
I wont be using again and I will ask to close my account
In future I will collect myself from a more local company, not my ideal but then I only have myself to blame if it goes south.

Do not use this company. They are AWFUL. I don’t know how they are still trading. Delivered to completely wrong address and terrible customer service and slow to refund. Truly Appalling.

Wish Id read the reviews on here. Coals arrived in a plastic bag and were wet. Tried drying and burning but they do not burn at all. Waste of money

Just received 4 x 50kg bags.
Totally wet through worst I have ever seen.
This coal been stood never turned and useless to burn until dry.
Bunch of cowboys running it now, I used to mix coal at the pits and turn it so I should know.

I ordered 10 off 50kg Stoveheat Smokeless Coal on the 4th. January with delivery date given as within 10 working days. After several emails and phone calls it finally arrived on the 24th Jan. which was bad enough but I find compared to Anthracite which I usually buy but they don't have any (no one seems to have any at the moment) it smokes profusely when first loaded, burns away much quicker and leaves a lot more ash than Anthracite. A poor alternative which I won't be buying again. Where is all the anthracite?

Wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone. Placed order and was saying 5-7 working days for delivery. Over three weeks later still chasing my order. Totally incompetent and tell lies. Also didn’t deliver full quantity and still waiting for my refund to appear.

Bought 6x25kg bags of coal which were eventually delivered after a massive wait that exceeded their online promise. 5 of these bags contained exceptionally wet coal that I cannot burn. Useless crap and a waste of money. I have nowhere to dry them and just opening the plastic sacks doesn't work. Their website says to just burn it damp but as most people know, this damages the fireplace and flu. I used them once and will never use them again. Coal so wet it is like mud. Avoid at all costs. Lidl smokeless is only fractionally more expensive and is far superior.

Ordered 50 bags of coal but told me at last minute they could not deliver on time. so I reduced my order to 25 bags and was promised my refund within 5 days. No refund arrived dispite countless phone calls. Then they said they will give me credit note. Took a whole month to get my refund from them. Faulty towers company. My first and last order from them. Avoid.
