Recently I have bought a 3 bedroom house in East London. The exchange was done within 5 weeks and after 1 week was the completion with another Solicitor or Conveyancer.

My experience with Hek Jones Solicitors was more than worst. I started to buy a flat in South London and Countrywide Home Conveyancing/Hek Jones Solicitors on 15 August 2022. The Solicitor Mr PL discovered my mortgage offer after 26 days and started the process/requested for a search after that. Ineffective or lazy or incompetent, don't know what was the cause. After months of waiting and pain and also corresponding with the Estate Agents as well, the matter was not progressing. More than after 5 months the Seller pulled out from the process in January 2023. In February 2023, the Legal Assistant SW of Hek Jones Solicitors emailed me, "We note that there is a balance of £23.20 to be returned to you.
So that our accounts department can process the funds transfer, please provide us with a recent bank statement (or banking app screenshot)." After replying with the bank statement (asked for the calculation as well) no reply or was not returned the balance. They know if they ignore our emails we have nothing to do, cause we are sufferers. Please go with these Solicitors if you want to be a victim or sufferer.

I used to work for countrywide through bairstow eves and it the worst company i have ever worked for you are just expected to just know the role and no support what so ever. My boss piara ullah was a 24year old who was more bothered about dress sense than the position, she used to fob all clients off with the same story. I would never ever recommend this company

Expensive, unreliable and the online program is useless. Avoid like the plague if you can, there is no way to improve this company

Unfortunately my buyer chose to use countrywide as her conveyancer 10 months ago and we are now one week away from her mortgage expiring with no completion date so I fear it's likely the sale will collapse.
Things go wrong in house sales, i understand that, but the lack of communication from the solicitor (with every other party) has been torturous. My Estate agent tells me that no one in the firm has ever come across anyone less responsive. Even now there is no transparency on what the problem has been with my sale or how likely it is to happen before the lender withdraws. Avoid at all costs.

We had an offer on two properties in February 2022, over a year ago now. There was no chain on either, so should have been a simple process within two to three months. We still haven’t completed on either property! Staff are pleasant on the phone, but nothing progresses, and having been promised that it will be going through very soon, nothing happens. Our buyers have had to set up new mortgages, other documents are now out of date, and still we wait. I have submitted a formal complaint recently, a promise on the site that there will be a swift response, but like everything else it disappears into the ether.
This has cost thousands in extra costs with ongoing mortgage payments, Council Tax etc.
From dealing with this for over a year, my belief is that they take on more work than they can handle, no one has overall responsibility for your case, everything is dealt with sequentially, and any problems are not foreseen. Give me a regular solicitor anytime! Do not use.

Horrifying! Avoid at all costs. We were recommended countrywide through our estate agents and it’s been the worst 9 months ever.

Our buyer was also recommended this solicitor but from a different region.

9 months later no sign of a completion date and our mortgage offer runs out tomorrow.

Absolute shambles. We were put onto this company by our estate agent as they are part of the same overarching organisation with the promise that the property sale would be a 'one stop shop'. Almost 5 months to complete a no-chain, cash buy sale. Very difficult to get hold of and when you finally do there are far too many lame excuses regarding 'lost' paperwork, missed calls / instructions etc.
Do yourself a favour - AVOID

Marcus is very professional and easy to speak to .Anytime I needed assistance during process of buying property Marcus was always available.Marcus always returned my calls and responded my queries satisfactory. I would highly recommend countrywide and Marcus Evans.

Almost 6 months to finally sort a no chain house sale. Appalling customer service and barely every answered the phone. Constantly having to cc in multiple people on emails to ensure that my solicitor would respond. Always coming up with excuses as to why there were delays. Didn't check documentation properly and ignored important questions. If you make the mistake of using this company for their solicitation, good luck.

Unprofessional, Avoid. No ownership, no timely communication, no point of contact, no relationship, no rapport, no trust. Simply awful experience. No confidence in them whatsoever.

The customer service was brilliant and all my queries were answered by the solicitor and the team promptly. I got to know the customer team really well and felt comfortable with everything. Each milestone was updated and i would recommend them to friend and definitely use them again in the future

Took over 7 months we were cash buyers a simple chain so should have been easy. Couldn't get through on any of the phone numbers managed once after being on hold 55 mins to be told ...waiting on questions being answered not very helpful sounded as if she had no idea about our sale/ purchase. If it wasn't for estate agents help we'd still be waiting. Finally told exchange on Tues hopefully then complete Friday....do we book removals??? Do we pack everything??? So Wednesday exchanges to complete Friday. Friday removals here so wait at new house ....1:30 informed our sale had completed. Nothing about getting keys for new house. Gets to 3pm left many voicemails... nothing...gets to 4:30 freezing cold still no keys...our sellers estate agent chased it up finally 4:45 keys all completed...never had a call back from panicked voicemails...no communication only via email...sent 200+ documents yet we've no printer ..they were told this... absolutely shocking treatment money for nothing service. Definitely Do Not Use !!!

Im struggling to even give 1 star. Im sofa surfing due to a relationship breakdown, battling cancer and trying to purchase an empty property with no chain. Im 7 months in so far with no sign of completion on the horizon. The company are lacking in knowledge and competence. Getting updates is like getting blood out of a stone and when you finally get a response there is absolutely zero content as to what’s happening, just a clear ‘get this off my desk’ response. The company is nothing short of an embarrassment to the industry in which they work.
Now going to the regulators before my mortgage offer runs out and the interest rate increase take me out of the market with nowhere to turn.

My personal experience of this company is poor they are slow to respond and non communicative and unhelpful to the point i have told them i am pulling out of the house purchase

Please plz avoid this company.

This company was recommended by Bairstow Eves Sales, Coventry. The solicitor, Joanne Clarby doesn't bother to pick up a call or reply to emails. I emailed her manager, Tylor, but received no response.

There are good companies out there with less fee. Please avoid this company.

Im in total agreement with Leanne,useless waste of time and money,we sold our house with no chain and a buyer who had passed all the mortgage checks,lost documents,unanswered emails,never returning calls and to top it off they appointed us Wosco Brown from their pool of solicitors,this took the whole experience to a new level of incompetence ! 2nd December completion,payed out 14th December ending 27 weeks of what only can be described as unbelievable.

This conveyancing company are beyond atrocious, I would give negative stars if I could. You would have better luck buying and selling a house through your local postman than Countrywide- no offence whatsoever to postmen!
Trying to use this conveyancing company to buy an empty house, delays for months on end resulting in our chain close to collapsing several times. Caused me much stress doing their job for them - at one point I was making phone calls pretending to be a Solicitor just to get the job done i.e. doing their job for them, as they honestly haven't got a clue and do not care whatsoever. Please do yourself a favour and do not use this Conveyancing company- literally use anyone else! Avoid!

Wish I had read the reviews, trying to get my sale finalised and it’s just one error after the other.

Very unprofessional company. I am making a complaint about my Home Buyers Survey Level 2 received from this company.
Before booking with this company I asked the sales person, several times, if my report would include photos.
He said yes. I also asked for a sample of the kind of report I would receive. I was swiftly emailed a report that included photos.
With that assurance, I booked this company. I was shocked when I received my report minus photos. I called the company and they listened to my original call. They confirmed that I had asked for photos but I was told that there was nothing they could do.
I will now make an official complaint because I did not get the service that I paid for. This is false advertising, misleading and misrepresentation! Avoid this company at all costs.

Please do not even consider using Countrywide Conveyancing or their mortgage broker services!!! It has truly been a complete nightmare for us. It took almost 6 months to complete a purchase that could have been completed in just 3. They are utterly unprofessionals and you have to constantly chase them in order to have even the smallest thing done. You have to do most of the work yourself meaning you are paying them to do absolutely nothing. They do not respect any timeframes they give you, do not provide you with any advice or support and they completely ignore your queries, making the whole purchase process extremely frustrating, especially for first time buyers like us.
Furthermore, they kept misspelling our names in formal documents, even though we had provided them with all the required IDs in order for them to be able to check the correct spelling of our names.
The first time we returned a call from the solicitor who was dealing with our case, he did not even pick up the phone as, according to the message he sent us after rejecting our call, he was busy as he was about to go and see a rugby match, which was apparently much more important than assisting us with our house purchase.
The experience with their mortgage broker was almost as awful; he failed to provide the bank with the correct information with regard to the sum to be borrowed and, because of their complete incompetency, we kept going in circles with the application and wasted 2 entire months for nothing.
The broker dealing with our case stopped working for Countrywide before we completed the purchase and we hadn't even been informed of that, until someone else from Countrywide called us and asked us to sign some documents we had previously already signed but apparently those were incorrect, due to their incompetence.
Furthermore, either our solicitor, their manager and their broker were always on holiday when needed. They are a COMPLETE JOKE! Please steer very clear of this company. Won't definitely use again in the future and won't recommend their service to ANYONE.
