Dr Julian is a UK-based mental health service providing fast, flexible access to qualified and regulated clinicians for therapy, psychological support and ADHD services. We exist to remove the barriers that stop people getting help, whether that is long waiting lists, limited appointment times or difficulty finding the right clinician. People use Dr Julian to access therapy without long waits, choose their clinician and appointment time, attend sessions online, and get support that fits around real life. Our network includes fully accredited clinicians delivering a wide range of therapies including CBT, counselling and EMDR, alongside specialist support for adults, children and neurodivergent individuals. We also provide ADHD pre-screen consultations, clinically-led diagnostic assessments where appropriate, and structured follow-on support and therapy. All clinicians are fully vetted, supervised and professionally registered. We are CQC registered and operate to NHS-grade standards for clinical governance and data protection. People can access Dr Julian through private self-referral, employer or insurer-funded care, or NHS pathways. There are no subscriptions or ongoing commitments. Private patients only pay for the care they use. If you are referred by your employer, insurer or the NHS, your care may be funded as part of your pathway. I have c-ptsd so my case isn't a straightforward one.
Laura is not only friendly, knowledgeable, understanding and extremely good at guiding me through my EMDR sessions, but she does it in a way where I feel truly heard, safe and supported. This is essential for me as I trust no one.
She's also always so bubbly and smiley and I can honestly say I look forward to my therapy sessions with her every week. She has give me the key to unlock the trauma that's been trapped inside me for so long. I know it's going to be an ongoing process but I'm so grateful for all her help and her expert guidance. Highly recommended therapist.

My therapist Gillian McDonald was absolutely amazing. I have tried several rounds of CBT but she was able to give me a different, more personalised approach which has helped me more than previous rounds have.
The reduced star is for the Dr Julian platform itself - accessing the assessments isn't completely clear. The video calling software is very clunky and cannot be relied upon. With some UX and reliability updates, it would be very good.

I recently had my first therapy session through the Dr Julian platform and unfortunately it was not a positive experience.
The session was meant to be CBT-based, however the format felt very presentation-driven. The therapist spent a large portion of the appointment showing PowerPoint slides and explaining concepts. At times it felt more like attending a training session rather than a therapeutic conversation.
The discussion also moved quickly between topics, which made it difficult to engage meaningfully or explore my own experiences in depth. I was hoping for a more collaborative and conversational approach where my situation could be discussed and understood.
There was also a moment where the therapist referred to my profession and asked whether I was “using my detective skills” on her and whether I was speaking to her “as a detective or as myself.” I found this comment uncomfortable and somewhat unprofessional in a therapy setting, particularly as it made the session feel slightly defensive rather than supportive.
To be fair, the platform itself seems easy to use and accessible. Services like this are designed to connect people with qualified therapists online, which can be helpful for many people seeking support. 
However, my experience with this particular session did not feel like the right therapeutic fit. I have requested to be assigned to a different therapist and hope that a more collaborative approach will be possible in future sessions.

This service has been amazing to me and has helped me in thriving and getting through some tough times. I feel I have been given all the tools and advice needed to deal with situations in the future and I am confident in myself.
Claire has been so understanding, non-judgemental and a breath of fresh air. I always felt listened to and didn't have to feel guilty about being able to express all of my thoughts and feelings freely.
I would highly recommend this service and the lovely Claire to anyone struggling.

I completed 12 CBT sessions through Dr Julian and had a really positive experience. The therapy has helped me rethink how I approach my mental health and given me practical tools to manage my thoughts and emotions day to day. I feel much more confident and better equipped to deal with stress and difficult moments.
A huge part of that is thanks to my therapist, Theodora. She was patient, calm, empathetic and incredibly understanding throughout the process. I always felt listened to and never judged, which made it easier to open up and talk about things I’d been struggling with. She created a safe and supportive space and guided the sessions in a way that felt thoughtful and constructive.
Looking back, I probably could have been more open from the very first session, but Theodora’s approach helped me build trust and become more comfortable as the sessions went on. By the end, I felt I had learned a lot about myself and had tools I can continue using long after the therapy ended.
I’m very grateful for the support and would highly recommend both the service and Theodora as a therapist.

I completed CBT with Laura and she was amazing! I was very nervous about starting therapy, but she made me feel so comfortable straight away and put me at ease as she was so easy to talk to. I can’t find the right words to fully express my feelings and emotions of the sessions I recieved from Dr Julian
And my Therapist .
I had suffered with anxiety and depression and PTSD and we talked and discussed the way forward and tried to address the trauma I had suffered and worked on this.
I was living in temporary accommodation and things were extremely difficult various situations and I had suffered from a situation which made me unwell
My therapist always listened to me and we together agreed to move forwards I had some set backs and flashbacks of trauma having to deal with performing CPR on my late father..
Trying to cope with sirens and ambulances were a major issue and
With the help of my therapist we had a formulae to address this .
I found my therapist always listened to me first and then we would move on to
The treatments for the session.
I had some extended sessions to which I am eternally thankful for.
Today the 24/02/26 was my last session
And I waited till today to inform my therapist I had moved into my New One bedroom house ( after several let downs on promised housing )
Today was emotional for me to say goodbye .
I feel blessed and thankful beyond measure for everything Dr Julian service has done for me and from the very beginning to be able to choose your therapist is a plus plus ( well for me anyway)

Initially i was extremely nervous about starting my journey. From the first session with Laura, i knew i had made the right decision about picking Laura to be my therapist. She is such a lovely person, she instantly made me feel comfortable enough to start my journey. Every session she was there for me, listened to my worries and helped me to think about taking action into solving them. I never felt like she was judging me or my worries were invalid. She made my sessions feel like i was just having a catch up with a friend, which i really liked. She is definitely an asset to the talking therapy service. I would highly recommend.

I found the support that I got through the sessions to be timely, well placed and easy to engage with. I was not discouraged by it being online and think that I have gained much from the help that I've been given.

I had the most positive experience with Dr Julian. I had the chance to choose my own therapist and they were absolutely the right fit for me and my circumstances. Professional, empathetic and experienced, they reassured me and created a trustworthy atmosphere during our sessions. I initially had a negative experience with the first therapist I worked with which made me anxious to try again but knew I needed to. My concerns were listened to and I was given the opportunity to start over and got some extra sessions. Consequently I worked with Shuwana who restored my faith in therapy!! I received therapy for a specific phobia and it was tough finding someone who could work with that but my sessions with Shuwana felt very personalised and I could tell she made a lot of effort into ensuring it was all relevant to me and my needs. I appreciate that the sessions were structured, but she also allowed for leeway with this when I was going through things in my personal life. Thank you Shuwana for all your help, you are brilliant at what you do!
