Wow, they still live in the stone age where things are run through fax and snail mail. It is very difficult to transfer assets to another carrier and their customer service reps are pretty useless.

DO NOT USE EQUITABLE
DO NOT USE EQUITABLE. My agent did not manage my funds well and Equitable effectively made it impossible for me to rollover my funds to another institution. I am stuck with this awful awful company and have no way to access my funds. All of their customer support agents give different information, and the brokers are completely unhelpful.
I would give them a zero if possible
I would give them a zero if possible. From address changes, forms being submitted and resubmitted repeatedly, loss of documents we submitted from courts that had to be re-obtained and court sealed again, assurances that things were being processed and then lost. And on and on and on. We've been trying to collect a measly $10,000 life insurance policy on a person who died in July 2021. The rules change, the goal posts are moved and we're given a different story every time we call. They now have 24 hours to process this claim or the next call is to the state Attorney General.
The worst financial services company…
The worst financial services company you can deal with. Originally signed us up into financial products with ridiculously high fees. The wealth management team we signed up with dispersed because they were not happy with the parent company. We tried getting our funds rolled over for over a year. At every step, Equitable made it a challenge. Finally they "sent" the funds to our new advisors except the check got "lost". The check was sent via snail mail and apparently it was returned. It was resent to the same address and received. Total disaster at this company, I would never trust them with our money again.
Poor Customer Service
We have been waiting 15 business days to get the forms to fill out. They said it would take 72 hours. They called and told me I wasn’t the beneficiary then called back to say I was. I would recommend going with another company .
Equitable Life Horrible experience
I do not recommend Equitable Life. The website is the worst. Can never get logged in. A simple life claim has been unpaid for almost 2 months. Their website has outdated forms. Horrible experience. Do your loved ones a favor and choose a different provider for your life insurance.
Worst financial company ever
Worst financial company ever. I have had so many issues simply TRYING to log in. I get an error message and call CS only to be told they will get back to me in 2-5 days, they don't even ask for an error code or any additional information its just "I'll have to look into it...". The only way to roll over funds is to download forms after logging in which they make impossible! If you want to close your account they will gladly take 20% and email you the forms immediately. This has been the worst financial company I have ever dealt with, I am glad I stopped contributing with them within a few months but to get the little money I contributed back has been like pulling teeth.
They do not know anything about their business.
We are a beneficiary when a relative sadly passed away. Equitable cannot provide even the most basic financial information. When they do send something, it is wrong. We received a schedule with a different beneficiary's information. The support line is unprofessional and has little to no financial experience. Run away from them!
DO NOT GIVE YOUR MONEY TO EQUITABLE- THEY WILL HOLD IT HOSTAGE
Working with Equitable Advisors, LLC has been a nightmare. Everyone from our advisor to customer service (with the exception of Christopher)has been unprofessional, ill-equipped, and uninterested in doing right by the client. They have held our money hostage, and despite six months of trying to transfer funds and three months of persistent calls to expedite the process, we have made no progress.
Their customer service provides no meaningful insights beyond what’s minimally available on their website and they only handle papers via mail or fax which inevitably gets lost. My account closure request remains unfulfilled after 6 months, and their inability to verify any papers raises serious questions about their competence. If I could, I would give them zero stars. Avoid this company at all costs.
I fully anticipate that this company will go bankrupt and we will never see our earned money and having to be a part of a class action suit where thousands of clients will have similar negligence stories.
Business structure seems to be to woo teachers who are “naive “ , make it impossible to withdraw or transfer, hold the money hostage for as long as possible until the business collapses and can file for bankruptcy protection. SEC should be investigating.
Ridiculous and unprofessional
I spent 15 minutes on hold, after being directed by a bot to press various buttons to route me to the correct place. Then the person I was directed to was unable to help me, after having me spell my last name letter by letter three times. I was directed elsewhere and again waited in queue. Then the next person picked up without realizing it and I had to listen to him make various noises for about 5 minutes before he heard me saying “hello” repeatedly. Then although he had my information in front of him, he claimed he was unable to help me and told me would redirect me to tech? A bot kept telling me to press various buttons, which I did, but then told me my request could not be processed. This took 40 minutes and got me nowhere, not even a callback.
I have never had such an awful…
I have never had such an awful experience with a company in my life. Pick literally ANY other company than equitable to handle your investments. My advisor is Jacobie Greene, I reached out him August 28th 2024 to withdraw from my 403b as I had just had a baby and left my position at Brevard County Schools. He called me and let me know it would be simple and quick. Well, I’m writing this on December 30th, 2024 and zero progress has been made. First, he gave me the wrong paperwork to fill out. Then, because I went through quick enroll, I had to wait until mid October to meet with him to sign paperwork. He assured me he would send the paperwork in that day. Every time I reach out to Jacobie, he does not respond to me or return my calls. He has me go through his secretary, that I have to send a follow-up email on every single time to get a response. Customer service said they never received the signed paperwork from Jacobie. Jacobie still refuses to return my call or acknowledge or apologize for how awful he has handled this. My taxes will be ruined since I clearly won't be getting the withdrawal within the year of my qualifying event. Was hoping to have this money for the holidays as a first time mother who just left her job.
Everyone I contact in this company gives me a different answer or hangs up on me after leaving me on hold for 20 minutes. I have cried at least half a dozen times out of frustration from this situation. No one helps me, my "advisor," does anything but advise. I'm completely on my own, jumping from employee to employee, no one offering a solution. This is truly the most incompetent company I have ever had the displeasure of doing business with. I will make sure everyone at Brevard Public Schools knows to chose literally any company but Equitable for their investments.
They need to be sued in a class action
My client has had a 457(b) account with them since 1998. Two months ago she started trying to transfer her account to a different Life and Annuity company that offers a better annuity. They have thrown up almost every roadblock described in the other reviews above. In the 14 years I have been advising clients, I have never seen such resistance in helping a client make a transfer to a new company. Extremely disappointing.
Don´t book this hotel
This is not a nice hotel at all...marginal neigberhood, 3 stories up with the stairs te reach the hotel area, no reception, our view is on a concrete wall.
This company is horrible
This company is horrible. I had to fight to close my account, and after it closed, it appears to be difficult to get this company to communicate my account closure to my previous school district. I have bee on the phone a total of 2 hours off and on waiting to speak to an advisor. Stay away from this company
They won't give me my money
Been trying to get my money from my 403b account for the last year and it has been one hoop to jump after another. I've been trying to transfer my full amount of my retirement to an IRA that I have in another company and they won't do it. Please know that it will take you years to get one task complete.
Went with AXA Equitable on 10 year annuity
Went with Equitable on 10 year annuity, first 3 years ok, after that the drain started. When ask about reason, said acct.tied to investment on djia. Then the doe rose by 3000 points, acct still tanking. Then told my acct. tied to T bill rate. Then this rate rose acct still tanking, then told AXA was a French company, was investing in foreign markets and they were down. NOW FACTs: They were charging me 7.25% to take care of acct each year. Was originally told by AXA agent that he didn't make money if I didn't make money. LIE #1 , he got paid upfront when acct opened. LIE #2, was told if I took 5% out yearly , I would never loose any money,I lost $150,000 in a 2 year period. LIE#3, My agent said he was always there, he had retired 2 times prior to me opening acct, he had returned to bail out his little brother who was in an office above him. At 8 years into a 10 year contract,my agent quit returning my calls and emails. Finally tracked him down to Florida retired living in a condo where his wife owned and managed condos. I finally reached the State of Tn. Supervisor over AXA, named Scott, only after a threat of lawsuit he gave me an agent 50 miles closer to my home. Seem that original agent had turned over my account to his little brother that I neither authorized not had any trust in. He was same as big brother, wouldn't return calls or emails. WARNING : Tape all conversations both ca
Ls and face to face meetings, but in my opinion, avoid this company by all means. I have 3 other friends that I retired with, they can tell you the same story, I just wished I had researched their clause and words on contract, and if I had recorded original meeting ,I would have a legal lawsuit,as it stands ,he said,I said.
Retirement
I retired early trying to have my retirement sent to my actual retirement account. I have had to have them send a check 4 times now. The last time they sent the check to me for a company I have never heard off. I AM LOSING MONEY EVERYDAY DUE TO INCOMPETENCE!
Given the Runaround
Equitable evidently doesn't want you to transfer and do everything they can to stop it.
I'm sent a form to fill out and I do so and send it in. Waiting and waiting I call back. Now I'm told that they need another form that I wasn't sent. I fill it out and send it in. Waiting and waiting I call back. They denied it because I put my first, middle and last name. They only have my first and last. Their girl clearly asks you to put your entire name. They say do it for the fourth time now.
When I processed a direct rollover
When I processed a direct rollover, equitable holdings took out $1500 for the IRS when they should not have. At the end of the year, they issued an incorrect tax form as well. It looked as though I withdrew money and did not take out sufficient taxes. Now the IRS is coming after me due to equitable incompetence. The IRS thinks I cashed out and owe them money! There was no action with my first call. With my second call they told me someone would call back in 3 to 4 days. No one ever called naturally. On my third call they told me it would be four weeks before I got a resolution. No guarantee of what that resolution is. Meanwhile the IRS thinks I owe the money . I would never recommend this poorly run company to anyone.
One horrible experience after another
If you ever decide to leave Equitable and move your money elsewhere they throw one obstacle after another at you. It starts with month long delays saying you didn’t fill out the correct form or then you missed one check mark and then you wait another month to get the correct form and after sending in nothing happens. They send an email to fill out an online form then after weeks of nothing you call, holding for hours at times, then told they must mail the form as it can’t be emailed. In addition the advisor I had was never looking out for my best interest.
