Surely this site is a joke? I was interested in looking at opportunities to gain in experience in something connected to biotech, software, or science in general. I signed up for the "trial" and the only 2 projects that sounded relevant to my field appeared as if they were set up for school children. The projects were literally "Wow! In this super exciting project you are gonna feed a spreadsheet to ChatGPT and ask it to generate a report for you. How cool is that?" We are so doomed as a society. Actual internships have historically been about learning to do things yourself, not delegate tasks to a mindless LLM, uncritically copying and pasting its output, and calling it a day. Why would anybody pay for this? At that point you could just do the entire process on your own without needing somebody else to "supervise" you.

Extern helps both students and early career professionals get real world exposure to different industries. So it is great to explore what working within a sector looks like and for building experience

Helped improve my resume and learn important skills.

I had an amazing experience with Extern through the HP Tech Ventures Externship. I learned a lot about how venture capital firms operate, how they assess startups, and how they analyze a company’s growth potential and market opportunities. Having to do research and dive deeper into using AI was also a huge part of the experience. Before this externship, I had no idea about tools like Claude and Perplexity, but without a doubt, they are now some of my favorite AI platforms. Overall, it was a highly engaging experience, and the program manager was always available with reminders and ready to help.

They have programs that teach you from start to finish and are easy to follow while remaining challenging, and they have introduced me to amazing tools that I can now use in my personal and professional life. They have an excellent combination of theory and hands on work that really made what I learned stick.

My experience was great because I got to learn more about my field. I learned social media strategy and brand consistency. To be honest I learned more about branding and strategy than some classes. To learn this much information and gain real experience is a true goldmine!

I recently completed an externship with Pfizer and was thoroughly impressed by the quality of the program. The most standout aspect was how current the material was; it’s clear they prioritize staying at the forefront of the industry. It made the learning experience feel incredibly practical and valuable.

Extern is a great place for students to get real world experience! Christie was my program manager for 2 externships and she was amazing!! Any time I reached out with a question, she got back to me quickly with detailed answers! Couldn’t ask for anything better!

I want to share my experience with the externship program. What stood out to me the most was the level of exposure and learning opportunities I gained throughout the journey. The company and manager meetings encouraged me to speak up, share my ideas, and reflect on my work in a more professional way. The materials and resources provided also helped me develop a deeper understanding of the industry and workplace expectations.

This externship was not only about theory, but also about understanding deeper concepts and building professional values and a strong code of conduct. During manager and company meetings, I learned the importance of professionalism, teamwork, communication, and sharing insights to ensure everyone stays aligned and works toward a common goal. That is what makes a strong and effective team.

What made my experience great is having the access to real world projects to help bolster my resume. I it is an opportunity that everybody college student should take advantage of!

Where do I begin? I came to Extern as a talker. I’m a doctoral candidate who learned all of the frameworks and theories and concepts- and no practical skills. I can to learn skills that would help me in my search for a career, but also to help me build an organization in the future. You wouldn’t believe what I’ve created and built since joining Extern. Extern was an astonishing discovery to me as I was battling between what it truly was that I wanted to do in the near future. I have learned so much in the past months that I am, even after completing my certification, still using!

I had a great experience with Extern. What stood out was the way TruBridge interacted with the those in the Externship. They gave thoughtful reviews of projects and answered so many questions along the way.

In every module, you are given clear instructions on how to complete the task. So, you can easily follow them and learn a lot from them as well. This will definitely be a great learning experience!

My experience was valuable because it gave me lessons I will use in my job hunt and future career. I learned and experienced how the professionals at the Mental Health Institute solve their problems, and really how they work. It gave me a lesson in professionalism.

Extern has been an experience I was pleasantly surprised with. I was not expecting how personal and accessible the team was. Everything was provided to give the extern a clear timeline; the meetings provided clarity and made it realistic; and support was given throughout the program. I will continue to utilize Extern to expand my skills, and I am very grateful for the opportunities to network and grow.
