Fluval is bad

Fluval is bad. Not recommend anyone getting their product. Bought a Fluval Sea PS1 Protein, but it broke after 2 years of use. A Fluval E200 heater broke after 4 years of use. And, in the instructions, it said 5 years warranty, but when I tried to claim a warranty, they said it needed to be registered online for 5 years, otherwise, it would be only 2 years. They did not mention anything related to registration and 2 years on the manual.
That is what they were saying when I contacted them.
"We offer a five year extended warranty if the product is registered on our website within the first 30 days since the purchase was made. We do not see a registration using your email and the warranty card in the photo provided is not complete therefore your warranty defaults to the minimum of two years. We hope this helps!"

Bought the fluvel bio co2 system so I…

Bought the fluvel bio co2 system so I can stop buying disposable cartridges. Set it up but couldn't get any co2 bubbles. So went to the shop I purchased it from. Was told it would take longer to get fizzing. Ok. So while there I purchased some more of the co2 making sachets 4 days in no co2 so I thought I would start from scratch and make a fresh etc. after another 4 days nothing. So I checked on forums etc. seems I get bubbles if I hold the valve down. Checked everything was clean and made another batch. So that's 6 sachets of stuff and tablets 1.5 kg of sugar. Lady it 6 days nothing. So took it back. Just so happens a rep was in and he went through everything and started to treat me as an idiot. I said no co2 in my tank as the fluvel co2 kit isn't reading anything. He said. In his words" that kit will not test co2 you need a low pressure co2 test" ???? Do what. I explained it can't possibly make any difference but he insisted and carried on asking all kinds in front of the other customers and shop assistants making me out to know nothing. He took the equipment away to be tested. Turns out the system has a fault and is leaking. Will send it away and once they receive it will send me out a replacement. That's good but my tank has now been without co2 for over 2 weeks and the algae is starting to creep in. Just asked for my money back. Poor information from this guy and a poor product. Sorry Fluvel after 35 years fishkeeping and breading I do know some things.

Can't possibly carry out any RnD, or user testing!

Kept various cold water/tropical/marine fish for nearly 60 years. After a few years break I decide to start up again with new tank. Presumed as Fluval (Hagen) had been around since I was a kid that there stuff must be O.K. So I thought I would start up with a complete Fluval package, everything, thinking that it must all be good and works together.
I bought a Roma 200 tank set up, which includes their tank, U4 internal filter, Fluval AquaSky 2 programmable LED lighting. Plus heater, thermometer strip and black cabinet. First thing that struck me and REALLY annoys me is the three section cover. Metal middle strip, with a plastic flap at the front and back, comprising the cover system. These flaps HAVE NO method of securing, latching into the metal centre. The flaps have a small cut out at each end, but that DO NOT LATCH or locate into anything. Just about every time you open the flaps up they dislodge from the centre bar and often fall in the tank or even couple of times dropped down the back of the tank. When the centre bar is placed on the tank unless it is exactly centred front to back, then the flaps overreach, or underreach the top sides of the tank. Have to be moved back and forth to get them flatly located. Always seems to be lots of condensation on the underside of the flaps. This immediately drips over the light bar when flaps opened.
The top back of the tank only has smaller recesses for wiring, tubing/pipework. Any larger diameter piping such as for a larger external filter may not fit, nor allow the cover flaps to lay horizontal.
Internal filter U4 operates noisier than I expected. Especially if you have cleaned it, seems air gets into the impeller area and takes days to be absorbed. "Planted tank" water exit setting is not adjustable for direction at all.
The AquaSky 2 LED lighting bar is only about 2cm above the maximum water level and so the light arc is very restrictive. O.K. for light spread directly under the bar, but fish swimming near the top of the tank at the front and back, are in the unlit, shadow area. I have a number of highly colourful top swimming fish and these seem to show, then almost disappear as they swim in the unlit areas. The bluetooth app for the Aquasky 2 is handy, but has lots of seemingly gimmicky settings, but I find the lighting levels and colour settings are almost infinite, but no recommended starter settings. I have rung Fluval support a few times about light settings but have had conflicting/disappointing responses. No real idea of what "Plant Boost" setting is, or does. I may well replace this light bar system as I am struggling to get to setting for good plant growth, to which I always desire.
The stand is sturdy and well made, but not that functional, just a single narrow shelf that runs along the back of the inside of the cabinet, for strength. No proper internal shelving as in all other manufacturer's cabinets. Just big open area, once you open the doors that don't have handles. The door closure buffer pads were few and rather poor at damping, rather door banging if you don't close doors gently. Fitted different buffers.
Also bought an expensive Fluval CO2 diffuser ring, thinking it must be a good performer, but despite days soaking the ceramic disc, I still am getting far too many large bubbles from it, wasting CO2. Bought a cheapy Chinese diffuser, that works well.

All in all I am very disappointed in all these things Fluval. The company cannot possible have carried out much, if any, functional testing. You would think the design people would give some of their employees a tank set up saying test this for a couple of months! After 3 months now still I am not happy, perhaps I have been spoilt by my other setups I have, mainly Juwel tanks.

Got the FX4 and the plastic is weak, seals suck and replaced the motor after a year. Trash product

Electrocuted

I set up a fluval flex, when I went to plug the included equipment in the pump made a weird bursting sound under the water and there was a flash of light. Being the idiot that I am, I stuck my hand into the water to take it out and got electrocuted. This is brand new equipment. I’m not a newbie(though it probably seems like it with the mistake I made by sticking my hand into the water) I’ve been in the aquarium hobby for 5 years. I have multiple tanks that are running beautifully, both salt and fresh. This was a bummer and genuinely scared me. NEVER purchasing fluval equipment again for the fear of this happening. BUYER BEWARE

Time Wasters

I have just bought a Fluval heater and tried to register it for the extra 1 years warranty (=3 years in total). Unfortunately after filling in all my details and submitting I am apparently blocked for no defining reason (despite checking all the information I gave was correct and without issue).
PS. My first Fluval heater lasted about 2 years, hence I wanted the longer guarantee.

PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU PURCHASE

Purchased a Fluval FX2 aquarium filter. After setting up there was a noise which was audible throughout my house. Contacting Fluval directly they advised to go back to the retailer (Huggle Pets) who said to return it for testing. I supplied pictures, videos and sound clips answering all questions promptly.
For a pet supplies retailer, I was surprised they considered disconnecting an aquarium filter, sending away for testing while leaving my 55 gallon aquarium unfiltered for days/ weeks an acceptable ‘solution’. This would clearly see my fish all die and mean I would have to recycle essentially starting from scratch whilst also having to purchase new fish while killing the existing ones.
I then tried to reject the goods as within 30 days and uk consumer right only to be told they would only do this if the filter was boxed, unused and as new, an almost flippant response considering my ongoing issue with the running of the filter.
I am now seeking legal advice as the only options I see are to
1. Purchase a second filter to use while the £220 FX2 is tested, when returned leaving it as a costly ‘spare’.
2. Put up with the unbearable noise.
3. Return it and wait to remove dead fish (not an option!)
I have already sound deadened the enclosure at cost with little improvement.
To sum up, please consider carefully products with fantastic long warranties as when needed, this particular manufacturer, FLUVAL will pass back to the retailer and the retailer, Huggle Pets, will only offer an unattainable ‘solution’ and reject any claim under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 essentially leaving an expensive product, not fit for purpose and a very bitter taste.

Outrageous shipping cost!

I built a taller fishtank stand and needed a new hose, my wife ordered it for $23.99, she didn't notice the shipping price until she printed the receipt ,JUST SHIPPING $30.15. It could have been put in a manilla envelope and mailed for less than $10.00. The company said they don't handle shipping. Hmm well someone does.
Had I known how ridiculous the shipping price was I would have done something different.

Bought the 207 canister filter

Bought the 207 canister filter, the service from the shop itself was great and they happily sent a replacement tank for a small cut in the outer plastic tank that was leaking. However, having found the canister not running this morning with power still supplied I can't say I'm impressed. No power outages had occurred, and upon unplugging and plugging back in the flow started back up. I inspected the parts to check for issues and found nothing.
I do not feel it is safe to use as the only filter because of this, knowing it could just stop running is disconcerting.

Absolutely deplorable service

Absolutely deplorable service , I purchased a fluval tank for £500 on 31/10/23 the tank cracked a month ago , I rang Maidenhead aquatics who said they would ask fluval what is guaranteed , how ridiculous you buy a product it’s suppose to be guaranteed , I contacted fluval who said and I quote

If the glass had a glass defect it would have leaked or cracked within a very short time of it being filled up initially. This is when the aquarium is first exposed to the full weight and pressure of the water acting up on it.

I find this appalling and would never purchase from these people again I had to replace the tank at a cost of £550 and they now choose to ignore me, THEY or their supplies omit to tell people they only guarantee the seams (joints ) as a disabled person who’s fish are very therapeutic they didn’t even care for the outcome of the fish let alone their product ,
Spending £500 for a tank that only lasted 3 months is absolutely disgusting

The support and advice has always been excellent, especially the customer service advisor Jonathon who has always been patient, professional and has a good sense of humour. You don't feel like you're dealing with a huge company.
Can't praise them enough, excellent products and service an unbeatable combo.

Fluval customer service

If I could give 0 stars for customer service I would. Purchased a 400 dollar fx6 filter brand new from pets smart. I get home open up the box it's missing the baskets on the inside. So I'm assuming it's a return that was re sold or factory screw up. Went back to pets smart was advised contact fluval email fluval for a week 1 reply per day. For 10 days .to only be told nothing they can do after sending receipt pictures .etc. stay away go with marine land or diffeent brand

Fluval 407 External Filter

I bought an external fluval 407 filter. I am so impressed with it, that I thought I will share my opinion here. I have a 240L fish tank and before I use an internal filter, which was doing the job, but required a lot of maintenance and attention, after I bought the fluval 407 this made my life so much easier, the filter works perfect, cleans the water very well, it is so easy to clean and maintain and also the intervals for cleaning it is a lot longer than the internal filter. I would recommend this product 100% amazing bit of kit.
