This company is the worst I have ever dealt with. They sell you a warranty, but don't honor it. They come up with so many different reasons on why the warranty is denied. None of which makes sense. Then the customer service lady hung up the phone on me, while constantly over talking me. Very rude. You should stay far away from this company.

BAD FAITH HANDLING & STATUTORY VIOLATIONS ON A $28K LOSS - ATTORNEY INTIMIDATION TACTICS

Fortegra has engaged in a calculated pattern of bad faith handling regarding my claim (Claim #028031). Despite a catastrophic Category 3 contaminated water intrusion on February 11th, I have yet to receive a single dollar for a total loss of over $21,000 in personal property + 8,000 for loss of use additional expenses. Please note I AM CURRENTLY DISPLACED and moved out of the contaminated unit as my complex admitted fault an offered me a lease termination with no penalties.

THE CONTRACTUAL VIOLATIONS:
My "Premium" policy includes a Personal Property Replacement Cost Endorsement (LL HO 04 90). This endorsement explicitly requires payment for replacement cost without deduction for depreciation. Fortegra ignored this, applied a 50% depreciation rate, and valued high-quality rugs at less than $50 each. Furthermore, they ignored over 200 items on a 219-item inventory, claiming "lack of damage" for items exposed to Category 3 contamination. If they’d like to argue against wetness. According to IICRC S500 Section 12.3.3, untreated water degrades into Category 3 within 48 hours; Fortegra’s adjusters are ignoring industry-standard science to avoid paying the claim. They have ignored over 200 items and only offered to pay for 6-7 items (all of which are incorrectly valued and DEPRECIATED therefore not only ignoring but DENYING damages).

MANAGEMENT FAILURES:
The assigned Adjuster (FL License: W061823) and Claims Manager (FL License: E188850) have consistently failed to conduct a thorough investigation within the 15-day statutory deadline required by the Texas Insurance Code. They both attempted to manipulate me and the claim. I escalated this to executive staff: Head of Claims and the Manager of Regulatory Affairs; both have failed to rectify the clear breach of contract and hold their adjusters accountable.

LEGAL TACTICS VS. POLICYHOLDER RIGHTS:
Instead of paying a valid claim for a DISPLACED policyholder who has suffered a category 3 water contamination, Fortegra has hired a Partner at a national law firm to "review the file.” A transparent attempt to intimidate me, a pro se claimant. Instead of advising Fortegra to fulfill their legal and contractual obligatio, this legal counsel is now attempting to build a "failure to cooperate" defense by mischaracterizing my attempts to seek transparency and help as "counterproductive." Specifically:
1. They are attempting to shift the blame for their 30-day delay onto me. Despite me providing ample evidence, consistent communication and attempt to provide more information and any additional meetings. They are arguing that I was not helpful for the one hour I missed a phone call which I immediately emailed and called back — because I was moving out of the contaminated unit AFTER the 15 day investigation deadline.
2. They claim "difficulties obtaining information" despite for weeks they have been provided with (by me) a 219-item spreadsheet and over 100 photographic evidence of the incident at the time of occurrence and afterwords sunken, water-damaged floor and walls, cracks in the ceiling, gross water residue on my items and floors, etc.
3. They are weaponizing the "Duty to Cooperate" to distract from their own failure to investigate and violations.
4. They are threatening an Examination Under Oath (EUO) not to find facts, but as an interrogation tactic to "tire" a displaced claimant who is currently paying out-of-pocket for relocation.

Fortegra is currently in violation of Texas Insurance Code § 542.060 and owes a mandatory 18% annual interest penalty on the delayed payment. They would rather pay high-priced attorneys than honor the contract I pay for. A complaint has been filed with the Texas Department of Insurance. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY.

Absolute trash

They still have not finished the claim. They are unprofessional. I have not received a call or message about my claim except for the on that said I filed one. They absolutely refuse to call back with any kind of information which I have requested them to do at least 6 times. Please do yourself the favor and spare yourself this experiance with this nightmare of a company.

Renege on agreements.

I'm a service advisor at a Ford dealership. A customer came in to have some mechanical work done. I called Fortegra and got approval for a certain amount. We went ahead with the repairs. After completion, I sent in for payment. They gave me almost $400 less than the agreement. Emailed back and forth trying to figure out why. Couldn't get a solid answer, only that certain hardware is not covered under contract (even though without hardware, the covered component could not be bolted into place), and the component itself was reduced by $22 each. Labor was also reduced by just over 2 hours. My company will no longer be doing business with this company, as they reneged on our agreement.

They do not follow contract

They denied claims that are clearly stated in the contract as covered. They not only denied it without having seeing any type of photos nor did they care to see the photos. They were also very disrespectful on the phone. I was told I was " changing" the narrative and asked if I ripped the seams on my couch. Obviously it was an accident ? Who wants to deal with insurance or a ripped couch after one year of having it ? I will make sure to let everyone know not to purchase these products from rooms to go AND to not even bother with this " insurance" that doesn't even cover what is clearly stated in contract.
For reference : My entire couch cushion is ripped on the cover. Just because the seam is touching anywhere near the zipper it is " apparently not covered" even though no where in the contract states zippers or zipper seams arent covered. Contract states under what is covered " seams separation( stitching coming apart) resulting in visible exposure of cushion foam, filling, and stuffing. " my couch is basically ruined. Thanks for wasting my MONEY and my time.

Great roadside service!

I used Fortegra’s roadside assistance plan that I purchased as part of a finance company loan. This was the second time I had used the service, and each time they took care of my problem efficiently and professionally. They made sure that I was taken care of and everyone I spoke too has been friendly and courteous to me. I am very well pleased with their service.

Very Disappointed – Do Not Buy Insurance from This Company

I am extremely unhappy with my experience and strongly advise others not to buy insurance from this company. I purchased a warranty believing it would protect my dining table, but when real issues occurred—peeling of the surface and color shading—my claim was not handled properly.

These are clearly quality and finish issues that affect the appearance and usability of the dining table, yet the warranty provided no meaningful support. The process was frustrating, time-consuming, and ultimately pointless.

The warranty feels misleading and unreliable. I regret trusting this company and wasting money on their insurance. Save yourself the trouble and do not rely on this warranty for furniture protection.

Whatever you do don’t buy Fortegra products.

Whatever you do, do not waste your money buying this protection plan. As a previous lead sales/assistant manager at Rooms To Go, who preaches this product do not buy it. It is a scam! Especially Fortegra. They are the worst. They will do everything they can to decline your claim and the way it is sold by the sales people is totally dishonest. We were even advised not to give customers a printed contract when they purchased this extra service. If people truly read the contract beforehand of what it covers and what it does cover, they would not buy it.

This company doesn't honor claims!!!

Customer service was ok. They stated that they couldn't find my account. When they did, I was told that it was inactive. Luckily I got in touch with the finance company to do a conference call. When I got to the maintenance shop for repairs and put in a claim form they did not honor the claim form not a good company to have extra coverage with. So if you have them for coverage for any financing company take it off! Cuz like I said they do not honor claims!!!

They will almost ALWAYS renege on their warranty! The technicians will report back to them 'no problem found' or 'normal wear & tear' thus voiding any responsibility by the company/warranty.

One of the airbags on my air massage sofa seemed to deflate( after only abt 2 years or less) which made both the massager and lumbar support become less efficient on one side of the sofa. The other side was still operable, and when i challenged the technician to compare the working side with the less efficient side, he SWORE he felt no difference...which was a BLATANT LIE.

Based on his report back to company, claim was denied.

DO NOT TRUST ANY WARRANTY GIVEN BY ROOMS TO GO FURNITURE OR FORTEGRA!

Fortegra denied claim on broken adjustable bed frame only 1 year old.

Bought a mattress and adjustable bedframe from Mattress Firm just over a year ago. While lying in bed a couple weeks ago, part of the bedframe collapses. Luckily we didn't get hurt. Put a claim through and got denied saying accidental frame damage is not covered. This is a bullshit excuse not to pay for a problem with the bedtime. Spend 4 digits on an adjustable frame and only got a year of use? Horrible warranty company.

While the Service Agreement does cover electrical and mechanical components, it unfortunately doesn’t extend to structural issues with the frame itself. Refuse to honor a warranty

I purchased a warranty for a device and they cannot "find it in their system." I spent exactly 58 minutes on the phone trying to clear this up and was told there was nothing they can do.

I have a copy of the email receipt for the purchase and a screenshot of all my purchased warranties. They could verify all the warranties except the one I was calling about.

I asked repeatedly what could solve this problem and I was told "nothing."

I was told that something wasn't entered into the system correctly and that there was nothing they could do.

Finally I was promised that someone would investigate and get back to me the next business day, and no one did.

Bought outdoor furniture with a…

Bought outdoor furniture with a Fortegra warranty for 3 years. Cost was $300 and salesperson claimed Fortegra would honor warranty for any stains the furniture would incur. Made a claim and Rooms to Go sent a technician to come see furniture and he immediately stated yes, furniture indeed has stains and would be replaced. He stated all cushions would be replaced and would delivered. I receive a phone 10 days later stating the claim was denied. Stated the technician wrote a report contrary to what he told me. This is a blatant lie from the salesperson and the technician. Do NOT do business with the fraudulent company!! The furniture was very expensive but still very cheaply made.
