So here I am being evicted from my room in 2 weeks, no reason provided. RUN WHILE YOU CAN!

So here I am being evicted from my overpriced, 800 euro 10 m2, moldy room in 2 weeks without any notice or communication from Fuse. I have paid a 750 euro deposit, moving in fees and one month's rent, meaning I’ve handed over 1600 euros for a single month of "living" in a disaster zone. To top it all off, I've been told the locks will be changed in 2 weeks if I don’t agree to move out.

If you are a student looking for a "vibrant community" and "quality living" in Vienna, stay far away from FuseStays. They sell a dream on their website and don’t deliver.

The "fully furnished, thoughtfully designed" rooms they advertise are a complete lie. The pictures on their site are clearly AI-generated and heavily edited; the actual room was missing half the interior shown in the photos, making me to buy my own furniture. Worse, the "hotel experience" they promise actually means moving into a smelly, moldy room that I had to deepclean and demold myself just to make it habitable.

FuseStays markets itself as a "community-driven" home with "kick-ass events." In reality, there is zero community and zero events. Their "24/7 support" and "digital experience" are non-existent. Trying to contact fuse is a nightmare the mail and WhatsApp are 2 different worlds that are not wel connected. They lure students in with the promise of "stress-free move-ins" and then abandon you the moment things go wrong.

When we tried to document damages (because they have a reputation for blaming tenants for existing issues), they promised an appointment with the city manager. They canceled it last minute, claiming the house was being "removed from their portfolio" and that it wouldn't affect our contracts. They even got our contract details wrong in their own email!

After 2 weeks of radio silence and ignoring my emails, WhatsApps, and calls, the actual landlord showed up. It turns out FuseStays has been lying to us. While they told us our stay was secure, the landlord informed us we are being evicted in early April. I now have exactly two weeks to find a new home and move all the furniture I had to buy myself.

FuseStays is predatory. They take advantage of international students, provide substandard housing, and then vanish when the legal situation gets messy. Do not trust their "Resident Stories" or "Reward System" the only reward you’ll get is a moldy room and a sudden eviction notice.

We want to offer some context for other readers, as parts of the account don't fully reflect what happened on our end.
This property was in the process of being removed from our portfolio, and we were actively negotiating with the landlord to keep residents in place until the end of their stays. During those negotiations, the landlord visited the apartment unannounced and shared information directly with tenants that was not accurate — including suggesting an eviction timeline that had not been agreed. Per our agreement with him, he was not supposed to be communicating with residents directly, and we asked him repeatedly to stop. Unfortunately, he continued to do so, and this breakdown in collaboration is ultimately why we ended the relationship with that property.
We acknowledge that our initial communication with you was slower than it should have been, and we're sorry for the uncertainty that created. Once we understood the situation, we worked to resolve it as constructively as we could: we offered support in finding alternative housing, offered to cover booking fees at a new place, accommodated your requested checkout date of April 1st (you were welcome to stay through the end of the month), and refunded your deposit in full and immediately upon checkout.
We take feedback on the condition of the room and the quality of our support seriously, and we'd genuinely welcome the chance to discuss this further if you're open to it — please reach out to us directly and we'll make sure the right person responds quickly.

Wouldn't recommend

I rented accommodation from FuseStay as an Erasmus exchange student during the last winter semester. They seemed to be very professional considering their website, but the reality is very
different.
One of the main issues was communication. After moving in, it was often difficult to reach FuseStay. Messages frequently went unanswered, including reports about technical problems in the apartment.
During the rental period and especially after moving out, I was confronted with claims that I had caused damage to furnished items, although these issues appeared to be normal wear and tear.
Replacement costs were charged without clear explanations or invoices. Even requests for documentation or justification were not answered.
The handling of the security deposit was another major problem. The refund process took more than two months, and the reasons for deductions changed several times. At one point, unpaid rent was claimed despite full payment and proof being provided. These claims were later corrected, but replaced by other deductions, again without transparent documentation or invoices.
All in all, really I had a really bad experience with Fusestays. I wouldn’t recommend this landlord.

We don't charge tenants for normal wear and tear. Deductions from deposits are only applied for missing items, items damaged beyond repair, excessive cleaning requirements, or repairs such as damage to walls or flooring — and we aim to back any deduction with clear documentation.

Great place to stay in Riga

I just completed my exchange semester in Riga and I am grateful to FuseStays about the experience. Even though there were some issues in the beginning, I am grateful to the city manager, Ingus, for always being available and reacting quickly to every request. I recommend FuseStays to any international student staying in Riga.

My experience with FuseStay as an Erasmus exchange student

I rented an apartment from FuseStay in Riga during the last winter semester as an Erasmus exchange student. I chose this provider because the website and promotional materials looked professional and trustworthy. Unfortunately, my actual experience was very different.

After moving out and already while I was still living there, I was accused of causing damage to furnished items, although these appeared to be normal wear and tear. Replacement costs were charged without providing invoices or transparent explanations. In one case, I was asked to pay for the replacement of a washing machine at a price that was almost twice as high as the usual market price. Despite multiple requests, no documentation was provided to justify these costs.

The handling of the security deposit was also very problematic. The refund was delayed for more than two months, and the reasons for deductions changed several times. Allegations such as unpaid rent were made despite proof of payment and later withdrawn, only to be replaced by new deductions. Again, no invoices or clear breakdowns were provided.

In addition, the condition and furnishing of the apartment did not match the presentation on the website. The furniture was very basic and partly worn, which made high charges for small items feel disproportionate.

Communication during the rental period was another issue. After moving in, messages were often ignored, including reports of technical problems. I also received repeated rent payment requests even though the rent had already been paid and confirmed.

I later learned that several other exchange students had very similar experiences. Furthermore, the other positive reviews on Trustpilot are not particularly meaningful, as Fusestays explicitly sends emails offering a €10 discount on rentals for every 5-star review on websites such as Trustpilot or Google.

Based on my experience, I would strongly advise future students to be very cautious and would not recommend using this company as a landlord.

Update in response to Fusestays reply:
I have already contacted FuseStay multiple times in an attempt to clarify these issues, but my requests for invoices and supporting documentation were repeatedly ignored. The requested receipts were never provided, even after several follow-ups, including in the case of a washing machine that was charged at more than double the typical market price. Nevertheless, I will reach out to FuseStay again to try to resolve the matter directly.

Fuse provides full property management services for all tenants during their stay. This includes on-site support and coordination of maintenance and technical issues. Repair costs are only charged to tenants in cases where damage is clearly caused beyond normal wear and tear. In all other cases — including standard usage deterioration or technical malfunctions — the costs are covered either by the property owner or by Fuse. These terms are clearly outlined in our rental agreements.

We fully understand that exchange semesters can be intense and sometimes stressful periods. Our team always aims to resolve issues quickly, fairly, and at the lowest reasonable cost. We prioritize open communication and, wherever possible, work toward practical solutions before any charges are applied.

As a small and growing team, we acknowledge that there may have been occasions where communication took longer than expected or where follow-up messages were repeated. For that, we sincerely apologize. However, we always strive to respond and support our tenants as efficiently as possible.

I have many things I want to say, but at the risk of making this sound too subjective, I will try to make this review as objective as possible.

Misleading address

Wrong address. In both the advertisement and the move-in instructions I received, it was stated that I would live at Gertrūdes iela 3. However, the apartment I ended up living in was located at Gertrūdes iela 3A. This is a side street relatively close to the promised address.

Fuse response:
All tenants staying with Fuse at Gertrūdes iela 3 in the past and at present have this address listed in their contracts. Your contract was also updated with further details, ensuring everything is fully correct.
We consider this matter resolved and will not be continuing further discussions on this point.

After moving in and pointing out these discrepancies in the address, despite already having signed a contract for Gertrūdes iela 3, a second contract was sent specifying that the address would be Gertrūdes iela 3A.

Lack of amenities

As per the contract, the kitchen should have been equipped with the following: a kettle, cooking pots and pans, and more than one spoon, fork, and knife. Also absent were a coat hanger, vacuum cleaner, and clothing racks. These were, however, provided a couple of days after moving in.
Granted, a branching charger and a trash can were provided outside the terms of the contract.

Misleading room description

This part is more subjective, so please keep this in mind.
The pictures used in the advertisement showed extremely different rooms than the ones provided (photos pending).

As specified in the original offer, the images provided are meant to give an estimation of the room’s layout and style. While we aim to represent the rooms as accurately as possible, slight differences upon arrival are always possible, and this is noted in the listing and the offer.

Granted, the volume of the room was the only similar aspect.
(Note: while I can’t prove this, I have strong reason to believe that the pictures used in the advertisement show another apartment. This is my personal opinion.)

Differential treatment

After sharing my findings with my fellow tenants, they also expressed feeling misled by the advertisements and marketing. Three out of four of us made a collective effort to address these issues. My fellow flatmates received a discount almost immediately, in the range of €100–120. However, I received the following message:

After careful consideration, Fuse has decided not to offer a discount. We addressed your concerns promptly, and our city manager has done everything possible to provide you with a smooth and welcoming arrival.

In addition, we would like to kindly note that comparing your situation to that of other tenants is not relevant, as pricing may vary depending on the booking platform, timing, and room type. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

After consulting my booking agency (Pepe Housing) regarding this differential treatment, they managed to negotiate a €50 discount for me.
(Side note: I lived in the smallest room and paid the second-highest rent — €630 compared to €580.)

These are my main concerns with Fuse Stays. To be honest, I would not even have written this review if I had received my security deposit back on time (promised within 10 working days from January 22nd, making it 2 days late at the time of writing).

Personal opinion

I only had the misfortune of renting an apartment in Riga, Latvia, so I cannot speak for any other cities.

I would not recommend Fuse Stays under any circumstances. They use, in my opinion, extremely deceptive marketing practices beyond normal levels. Their communication is often nonchalant, delayed, or entirely absent toward the end of the tenancy.

Sidenote,
I was later offered an approximately €40 discount on the condition that I leave a 5-star review

The accommodation provided by Fuse was excellent in every aspect. The apartment was clean, well-equipped, and making my stay very comfortable. Check-in was smooth, and communication was clear and helpful throughout. I’d definitely choose this place again and highly recommend it to others.

Professional accomodation provider

Fuse provided me really nice accomodation, whereas they were accessible and attentive to any problems or questions I had. I recommend students and digital nomads to stay with them as they make it much easier to live in a new city mid term

Great service!

I’ve been living at Fuse for a few months now and it honestly feels like home!! The service has been great from the start and everything is so easy and stress-free. The apartment came fully furnished, the beds are super comfortable and really good quality, and everything from Wi-Fi to utilities runs smoothly. Even the shared kitchen is clean and well-equipped, which makes day-to-day life so much easier :)

What I love most is the atmosphere. There’s a real community vibe and it’s so easy to meet people from all over. Fuse also organizes fun events, but even just hanging out in the common areas feels relaxed and welcoming.

The rent is fixed too, so there are no hidden costs or surprises, which takes away so much stress. If you’re new to the city or just looking for a comfortable, hassle-free place to live, I couldn’t recommend Fuse enough!

Honestly feels like home

I’ve been living at Fuse for a few months now and honestly, it’s been a great experience. The apartment was fully furnished when I moved in so I didn’t have to stress about buying anything. Everything works smoothly. Wi-Fi, utilities, even the shared kitchen is well-equipped and clean.

What I really like though is the community vibe. I’ve met people from all over and it’s super easy to make friends here. Fuse organizes events every now and then but even just hanging out in the common areas feels chill and welcoming.

Also love that rent is fixed with no surprise bills. It’s just one less thing to worry about. If you're new to the city or just want a hassle-free living situation with good people around I’d definitely recommend Fuse.
