GAS FIX Avis 

Our old system was single zone for CH & HW with some pipes embedded in the walls. The boiler was working ok but burning too many gas units. The Rads were full of sludge with lots of cold spots round the house.

We decided to upgrade to a modern heat-only boiler + hot cylinder (sealed system) and replace radiators. New Surface mount pipes instead of the old embedded pipes, plus under-floor pipes. Plus new-fangled Hive controller.

Lewis & his team did a great job, in four days (unbelievable) in July 2026.

Day1: remove old rads and old Ideal Mexico boiler (four people to get it out of the house!). Remove old water header tanks from attic. Remove old cylinder from airing cupboard. Hang new radiators on walls

Day2: new boiler (Glowworm Energy7) + Gledhill cylinder in Attic with copper pipe runs to floors below (via old airing cupboard). Warm work in hot attic!

Day3: Surface mount copper pipe runs to rads, and plastic pipe runs below floors to feed visible copper above-floor to radiators.

Day4: Finish plastic pipe runs, bring system to pressure and test for leaks. Cleanup. Handover to customer

I did not insist on 100% copper for pipes. Plastic pipe bends more easily through under-floor joist timbers. There were some tight areas in our house where using copper would mean taking up more flooring to expose the under-floor for straight runs & 90 degree bends. I was a bit nervous about the copper/plastic mix, but hopefully this should outlive me.

If you require 100% copper, you should agree this in the quote, but accept your house will get more bruised as a result, and take longer to do.

We know Lewis from previous annual visits to service the old Ideal boiler. Lewis provided a competitive estimate for the refurb & we had confidence in him to do a good job. His van is immaculately tidy (which we took as a good sign).

Lewis has an impressive work ethic. He is one of the most "on-it" people I've met and meets every challenge with a can-do attitude. Kudos also to Hitesh on his team who worked all four days at the same pace. I was WFH during the refurb, but no regrets at staying on-site to handle any questions arising.

I video'd Lewis explaining the system during the handover Q&A, and recommend others to do the same, as I forget this stuff later. I've hassled Lewis on a WhatsApp thread in the post-install period with small questions, and he replies instantly - great service.

I contacted Lewis at Gas Fix last Thursday evening when our boiler stopped working. My mum had used his services recently and recommended him. He replied straight away even though it was 8pm, and although they're currently really busy with aircon issues given the heatwave, his engineer Ben came out first thing on Saturday to look at our boiler. Diagnosed several issues including pump failure and suggested new boiler needed given 16 yrs old. They then managed to fit us in today, Monday at 8am! Installed new boiler efficiently and tidied up thoroughly and tested everything and provided certificates. Very happy with service received and helpful attitude, keeping me updated on timings. Would recommend.

Lewis responded within a few minutes to my WhatsApp message when our HW pump started screaming. He diagnosed the problem - low system pressure - and the issue is solved without a visit or replacing the £700 pump as operators with less 8ntegrity might have done. Bravo!

Have been using Lewis for a number of years now for plumbing, gas boiler maintenance and new installation. Always on time and informative about what is required.

We had an ongoing problem with a boiler that was failing. It finally packed up and Lewis pulled out the stops to get us anew one and even came and fitted it on a Saturday morning. He’s very polite and professional and did a great job. I highly recommend his company.

We've been waiting for a new boiler for 8 years (a mix of putting it off financially, and struggling to find a trustworthy plumber), then Lewis was recommended to us. It turns out that we had used Lewis 10 years ago for a very small job which we both forgot about! Anyway, Lewis' communication was incredible, quoting us for a new boiler, hot water flush and new thermostat, all over Whatsapp and 1 phone call, after asking for information and photos. The quote was right for us, and he managed to squeeze us in the following week. He kept in touch right up to the day of the installation, and confirmed timings. He is polite, efficient and tidy. Nothing was a problem, and he gave advice on the best way to heat our house with the new boiler and our current UFH. Before leaving he made sure I was happy with the job and I knew all the new controls. The morning after the installation he checked in to make sure there weren't any problems over night. There were no problems, but one of our Rads wasn't getting hot enough and our hot water was too hot. Within minutes he had given me the right instructions to easily fix both issues myself. He did offer to come by the house and do them himself but I knew I could do it with advice. All in all a totally perfect 5* service and we will continue to use Lewis in the future. Hopefully we have found our 'forever plumber'!
