Gin e bike

After being a regular cyclist for a long time, it was with some trepidation that I bought a Gin e bike, I shouldn't have worried. The Gin e bike is great, the electric motor allows me to whiz up hills without all the effort of traditional cycling, the bike is comfortable, well engineered and has great features. The display feature in the handlebars is easy to read while moving and gives all the information you need. Though I've only had the bike for a few weeks, I recommend it.

We never received our ebike!

We had a similar experience as the other one star reviewers and regret ever trying to buy an ebike from this company. We ordered and paid for a ginX ebike in mid-August 2024. After three weeks of updates we were told that it was a matter of days/weeks before our bike would be shipped out. This happened on three occasions.
By February 2025 we still had not received our bike so we cancelled our order and asked for a refund. After several messages we never received our refund so we got legal advice and contacted our credit card company who dealt with the refund. We finally received our refund in mid-May2025. Gin X tried to keep 12.8% to cover costs, but the credit card company agreed with us that their terms and conditions state 6.4%.
We are just thankful that we went to different company who delivered our ebike promptly!

We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and frustration you experienced. We understand how disappointing the situation must have been.

Regarding your refund, we did process it initially, but unfortunately, it did not go through due to technical reasons. As soon as we identified this, we double-checked everything and issued a new refund immediately, which you later confirmed you had received.

According to our refund policy, when a customer cancels an order that we are still able to fulfil, a cancellation fee applies. This is standard practice to cover handling and reservation costs. However, we fully regret that the experience led to this outcome.
Just to clarify, we did not charge the 12.8% you mentioned. If you believe this amount was indeed deducted from your refund, please share the relevant statement or evidence, and we will be happy to investigate and refund any overcharged amount right away.

Since your case, we’ve made significant improvements to our customer service operations. Most importantly, we now keep all bike models in stock to avoid delivery delays and ensure a much smoother customer experience.

Great Budget Friendly E-Bike

I’ve had my Gin e-bike for a little over a year. It’s great, I use it mainly for commuting to work in London. I also fitted a child seat on the rack for taking my son to nursery.

The only thing worth noting is that the delivery took a little longer than they had originally said, it took roughly 5 months but this was due to third party supply issues out of their control. I did find the assembly a little tricky but I’m not that good at DIY type things. It’s unfortunate you can’t buy it pre-assembled. They also don’t have any partnerships yet with cycle stores for on-going maintenance so you will have to source a local bike shop who is happy to look it over yourself. These points aside I’m very happy with the actual bike and it’s been working great for me. I’m a little over a 1,000 km in and still riding great.

Ginx electric bike purchase

Had my bike just over 6 months. Very happy with my purchase. Did have a problem with the battery and it was replaced quickly. Good communication, kept updated at all stages. Would highly recommend.

Gin e-bike

Purchased e-bike last July. Had a bit of a wait for delivery, but well worth it.
Good quality build with parts to match. The accessories supplied were well thought of and appreciated. Big bonus is it’s a great ride, comfortable and powerful up them hills.
Would recommend the purchase of a GIN e-bike.

Stay away from this company.. not worth your time.
Had to wait 3-4 months to actually get my bike after order was placed. Their stock management is really poor. This is consistent with other reviews and I should have read that before I ordered. They do not provide updates to you and you will need to reach out yourself, their customer support is awful, incompetant and unprofessional. Why? They don't listen to anything you mention to them, they act like they are reading your query for the first time whenever you reply to them via email, and they are not truthful to anything they say. I finally received my bike in March and decided to leave this review now because I really wanted to give them a chance. The bike is fab, rides fab, and is genuinely lovely. However, the company is not. I paid extra for 5 accessories with my order (which were a camera, turn signal lights, cover, lock and 1 more) of which 2 turned up with my 4 month long delivery. Having not received any kind of warning that not all accessories would be sent, I had to again reach out to THEM asking for an explanation to which they responded that they did not have the stock ready for these accessories... really? For bike accessories you are struggling with stock? Ok, that's fine, I'll just wait I said. 2+ months later, it is now May, I still have not received my accessories. With constant chasing and emailing for updates, they kept on telling me that they do not have the stock yet for the accessories and are waiting for them. As of the most recent update, on April 1st, their head support informed me "We expect to deliver this to you in a month" and I have given them over a month and still nothing, not even an update. So I've sent them an email now, and I'm leaving this review because honestly I have never dealt with such an unprofessional and incompetant company before. It is not worth your time, I promise you. Don't make the same mistake I did. While the bike they have are great, you can find something similar and get it quickly with a much more supportive company. Also, my bike came with a missing piece (an important piece that, connects the front mudguard) which I could not do because they didn't send it with my bike. They said they'd send that in a week and well, 2+ months later, still haven't received it lol. In the end I got a bike shop to sort that for me.

They might try to respond saying "we kept you informed with updates" yes - only AFTER I kept chasing you for them about it. Not once did the company ever send out an update on their own accord during my lengthy 4 month wait. I have all the receipts for that on my email if anyone wants the proof. Truly a painful experience and I wish I went with another bike. For 4 months while I wait for their poor stock management, I finally receive a tracking number being told the bike is now ready to be shipped to my address. You will not get your tracking number until they are ready to send the bike to your address. That's if you even managed to wait for them to get the bike in stock. And now I'm waiting another 2+ months to get my 5 accessories that **I PAID EXTRA FOR BTW**

I would like to also mention that during this entire process, I have not received ANY kind of compensation nor have they offered anything. Nothing for any of the delays whatsoever.

Please check other reviews about this company and you'll find the same crap by other people.

As expected, GIN X replied to this criticism faster than they reply to their support tickets, with a bunch of lies saying that I made incorrect statements and the typical "we had no stock" excuse. Check their replies to other reports, dating from December they've always said "We fixed our stock and are doing better now" but it's march and it's still the same problem lmao! Nothing's changed. Now they are saying that I did not pay extra for my accessories when I did pay £129 on a SEPERATE INVOICE they requested from me via Email. All evidenced and logged. Will be contacting my bank and raising a case and furthermore reporting the company for fraud, (taking payments and not delivering products and claiming to have not taken any payment.)

Sorry, allow me to clarify. I purchased their £1299 Black Friday deal which inc. 500w bike + 5 free accessories via my Bike2work scheme. They ended up saying that they cannot fulfill the order because it is being done through the scheme, and you cannot apply a scheme with a black friday deal due to loss in profit. They lose 10% due to commissions. They said I could pay that extra 10% on a seperate invoice (£129) to fulfil this order in which I did therefore paying (£1399) in total. Now they haven't given me my accessories + are saying that I haven't paid that extra 10% nor refunding it.

You did not pay anything extra for the accessories you mentioned — the camera, turn signal lights, cover, lock, etc. These items were part of a promotional bundle we were running at the time. The price you paid, £1,299, is the standard price for the bike alone, and the accessories were included as a free bonus with your purchase.

We understand your frustration around the delays in accessory delivery, and you are absolutely right that some items were temporarily out of stock. However, we communicated this clearly and even offered alternative accessories where stock was limited — an offer you accepted, choosing to wait for your preferred items instead.

We completely acknowledge that the experience could have been smoother and that we have faced challenges with our stock flow during peak periods. But it’s important to point out that throughout this process, we have done our best to respond to your inquiries and work toward resolving your concerns.

Lastly, your claim of “paying extra” for the accessories is incorrect, and it’s disappointing to see such a strong review based on a misunderstanding. We appreciate all feedback, even critical, as it helps us improve, but we kindly ask for fairness and accuracy in return.

Just to clarify, the additional 10% you paid was not directly for the bundle of accessories. It is due to the Cycle Scheme commission, which significantly reduces the amount we receive from your voucher.

Unfortunately, Black Friday promotions and similar offers are not applicable when using Cycle Scheme vouchers, simply because Cycle Scheme charges us a high commission (around 10%) on the full bike price. To make sure you could still enjoy the full accessory bundle and keep your benefits, we provided the option of covering this 10% — which represents the amount we lose in commission — so we could still provide you with the £1,299 value bike and all included accessories.
So, this was not about you paying more — it's about us, as the supplier, receiving significantly less when an order is processed through Cycle Scheme. We hope this gives a bit more insight into how this works behind the scenes.

Additionally, we’d also like to understand your position regarding the accessory delays. We proactively offered to replace the out-of-stock accessories with available alternatives, but you specifically chose to wait for the original ones. We respected your decision and reserved those items accordingly. Could you please clarify your current stance, as this choice was made with your full agreement?

RIDING A GIN X BIKE IS A PLEASURE TO RIDE

This review will be a pleasure to write I purchased my bike in April 2024 and it was delivered in Jul 2024, OK it took a long time to complete but it was worth it, I was updated ever step of the way with emails and phone calls from Joseph in customer service. Unfortunately, I was out of the country till November 2024 therefore unable to use it.

Upon my arrival back I set about assembling my Ebike I noticed it was well packed and secured, it came partly assembled. I downloaded the assembly instructions given by Gin X with photographs for the step-by-step stages and I found the process easy to complete.

As the bike was delivered in 2 stages the bike itself the other contained all the accessories you could wish for and received in perfect condition & correct the only criticism I have is the hand pump, I have ended up buying a small portable electric inflater as I couldn’t get the required pressure with a handpump

It was now time to try it out and I wasn’t disappointed, The Gin X ebike is extremely well made, good quality parts, and great value for money compared to other bikes in this price bracket.

I did a lot of research before committing definitely noting hat without media coverage this might not have been my choice as I was a bit sceptical about the price, having watched various videos and GIN X own video I was hooked and wanted one. The battery life is fabulous I have now found my best range which is setting 3 on the computer and depending on the terrain will easily do 50 miles.

I love the braking system Shimano top of the range which makes the slow down quick and smooth, and along with the front suspension gives you a feel of confidence (Don’t forget to unlock something I forgot to do which is located on the front fork). The gear system is easy to use and is smooth up and down without that jerking effect because it’s missed a gear.

My wife rides an Gtech and we now both regularly go out together (aprrox 800 miles since November 2024), I’m not going to compare bikes as both have their own characteristics, what I will say is that the GIN X battery comes into its own with it’s great range.

To summarise I would definitely recommend buying a Gin E bike exceptional for the price, customer service is great thank you Joseph, I’m more than happy for anyone to contact me to discuss my experiences.

Took receipt of my Gin X E bike Nov…

Took receipt of my Gin X E bike Nov 2024 - Purchased July 2024
E Bike c/w all the free accessories was received in perfect condition & correct.
Assembly of bike itself to completion was very easy to do with no issues.
Gin x E bike itself Can’t fault anything about it - The bike is very well built - Handling & performance of the 500 Watt motor brings a smile to your face, integrated handle bar monitor display is a great accessory to have, the gear changing is brilliant, brakes - best to date I have had.
Battery use (mod 5) highest setting used all the time - Received approx 35 miles and this is very good for my needs.
Had puncture & needed to remove the rear wheel & disconnect power socket to completion !! Then had a small issue with power to the rear wheel going on & off / use off pedal assist - Needed to call Gin X Support team / Phone # Is not easy to get through on for assistance but when you do can’t fault the response of the support team - My fault was down to the setting within the (1to11) mods Change made / saved & is all now good to go again.
Thanks to All the Gin X Support Team for my support / experience & online video support to completion & would strongly recommend a Gin X E bike to my friends.

Great Value, lots of kit, powerful motor

Great bike for the cost with lots of extras. Comes complete with front & rear lights, front & rear mudguards, extra comfortable seat, alarm, luggage rack & panier. Battery seems to work well and the power assist easily took me around the Great Orme in Lllandudno which was a pleasant surprise and great experience. Done 200+ miles now and loving this bike.

I can thoroughly recommend Gin bikes. Whilst it took a while to be delivered, the quality of the bike is excellent and it is a really smooth ride. I have tried electric bikes three time this price and the Gin is better. When I have had issues, such as the charger needing replacing, the customer service has been both efficient and speedy.

The e-bike suits my needs well

The e-bike suits my needs well, been a hybrid style it is practical as it offers a comfortable, upright riding position, which is beneficial for my to commute to and from work. With the panier rack it makes it practical to transport my work case and some groceries from the shops. It may only be a 250W motor but it makes the commute a breeze and I am not a light puppy at 110kg. As of yet the battery still has the same range and has been charging fine. The black finish is a pleasure to look at, overall this bike is a pleasure to ride.

Excellent ebike. Great value for money.

My experience with Gin sales was good.
They were honest about delivery time and my bike arrived on time. I was promised accessories and received all as promised.
I've had my bike for almost a year and done 800 miles so far without any problems.
My Gin X is a good ebike and fantastic value for money compared to similar spec ebikrs

Hi the bike is great thank you no complaints. It took along time for the delivery but I was warned by the Gin staff so i was prepared to wait. Overall, the bike is v good and dealing with Gin E was generally good. Could be improved by answering calls quicker and responding to emails quicker. But I would recommend.

Better than a G&T...

I did a ton of online research into e-bike and the Gin came out top on a range of fronts - all the parts are standard, a tesla battery, long range and programmable. It's worth pointing out that theres a 3 month ordering window, but the bikes are built bespoke in China and are worth the wait. I've invested in a tow bar mounted bike rack for taking it around with me and I absolutely love it. Sleek matt black finish, a lovely ride (I bought a super comfy saddle and paid a local bike expert to put it together). Love riding it and it eats up the miles with effortless pedalling - no more getting buzzed past by Bradley Wiggins wannabes. Now they have to work if they want to overtake - I don't!

600 miles since July last year and…

Had the bike since July last year and it's been excellent. I bought this bike as a heavy older rider and it suits perfectly, and, for a very good price for the spec.
Now done over 600 miles without a single hitch with the bike. I have changed the tyres and pedals to suit a more gravel and dirt route as much of my riding is in the local forest. Most rides are around 15miles and battery easily copes with this, even with higher assists up the hills.
Extremely pleased with my purchase.

An all round great ebike with innovative features!

I decided to upgrade my old 250w ebike to a new 500w sleek display Gin X bike. Absolutely thrilled with it..delivery did take a while but once the bike arrived I couldn't be happier. Plenty of power, solid build and does not stand out like a traditional ebike so less likely to get stolen. Thankyou Gin eBikes!
