Gordons Property Lawyers were great. I have a few properties and have dealt with various solicitors in the past. I must say Gordons were the best by far. I would like to personally thank Saira Latif for dealing with my complex case. She kept me informed at all times and her response time on all matters was very speedy. I would highly recommend this firm and I certainly will be back in the future. Thanks guys!

Very, very, very incredibly bad solicitors. I would never, ever recommend using them.

My remortgage completed over two weeks ago, yet I am still waiting to receive my funds. My lender has already started taking the new monthly mortgage payments, but the solicitors have still not sent me the remortgage money.

The lack of communication and unnecessary delays have been extremely frustrating. I strongly advise anyone considering this firm to look elsewhere and avoid using them.

We have just completed our mortgage renewal process with Gordons, and in particular Umayr. We received regular updates throughout, making the process smooth & simple. We would highly recommend their services & hope Umayr is still around when our next switch is due.

We used Gordons Property Lawyers for a remortgage and transfer of equity. The early stages were fine but the completion stage was a series of errors we as clients had to catch and correct ourselves.

Stamp duty: They wrongly calculated SDLT by dividing the mortgage debt by two when there were three owners on the title. They admitted in writing it was wrong then just days before our completion date re-sent the same incorrect letter demanding an urgent response on a figure they had already conceded was not owed. This caused us real anxiety so close to completing. After all their talk of urgency they never came back to confirm we were right even after calling 3 times with no answer.

£9,000+ shortfall: The completion statement showed over £9,000 due, based on the wrong redemption figure. The lender’s own statement confirmed it was around £8,000 too high. We had to spot it and challenge it and our broker also had to contact them separately to point out the same error.

ID check fee: We paid £7.20 each for all three of us and provided the payment dates. They kept insisting a further £7.20 was outstanding. They emailed to confirm it was all paid and nothing was owed, then emailed again claiming a shortfall of the same £7.20. When we called, no one could explain what it was for, we were given several different answers like interest, before eventually being told it was the ID check again, then later that it was a separate fee for ‘organising’ the ID check. When we were told to contact our case handler, we called, only to be told she was on annual leave.

Urgent responses, ignored: Regarding that urgent response they demanded about the stamp duty, we replied within 20 minutes. An hour after we’d already sent our reply, they called to chase us for a response we’d obviously sent. A further example of the left hand not knowing what the right is doing.

The recurring theme was poor internal coordination. Different staff gave contradictory information and one would reopen an issue another had just closed. We spent a lot of time and stress correcting mistakes. To be fair, the transaction did complete on time. Our frustration is with the accuracy and coordination rather than the outcome. With tighter checking and better internal communication this would have been a far smoother and less stressful process.

Unprofessional, lost important paperwork yet received some even though it was sent in the same envelope and sent via 1st class special delivery and tracked! Lost confidence in representing me so did not use

Absolutely dire.. do no touch this company with a barge pole. Shocking communication, promised call backs which never happen...Gordon Property Lawyers have cost my daughter and son in law thousands of pounds in procrastination, ineptitude. AVOID

Poor communication and customer service throughout. Direct contact with the case handler was not possible, with callback requests never fulfilled. Multiple paperwork errors led to repeated resigning and resubmission at the customer's expense and unnecessary delays. Communication with the other party's solicitor was lacking, responses to queries were vague, and documents were sent to the wrong correspondence address. Lack of professionalism throughout.

As first time buyers, Michelle & Holly were great as giving us updates and being on the other end of the phone when we needed.

We had a very complex leasehold to battle with, well Michelle & Holly did all the hard work but were great at explaining the detail and keeping us in the loop.

I could not recommend Gordons enough, 5 star service!

We were recommended to use Gordons property lawyers for our remortgage, with Umayr Waraich handling our case throughout the process.

Our remortgage was not entirely straightforward, which meant it took longer than originally anticipated. However, Umayr was consistently supportive, professional, and responsive—qualities that are incredibly important when dealing with something as significant and often stressful as a mortgage or remortgage. He was always willing to answer our questions, kept us informed, and demonstrated excellent knowledge of the process. Whenever we needed clarification, he responded promptly and provided clear guidance, which gave us confidence throughout.

The only aspect of our experience that fell short of expectations was our interaction with the reception team. On a few occasions, we found the communication to be somewhat combative and defensive, which was disappointing and contrasted with the excellent service we received from Umayr. As a result, this slightly detracted from an otherwise positive experience.

Overall, I would recommend Gordons property lawyers, particularly because of the support and professionalism provided by Umayr. My advice to anyone going through the mortgage or remortgage process would be to maintain regular contact with your case handler to ensure you have the most up-to-date information and guidance when needed.

We all know that securing a mortgage or completing a remortgage can be a stressful experience, so having a knowledgeable and responsive case handler can make a significant difference. Despite the challenges we encountered, Umayr's support helped make the process much more manageable, and for that we are very grateful.

This was my second time dealing with Gordon's Property Lawyers and my experience with them has always been excellent throughout. I would like to especially thank Michelle Riordan and Holly Mapes for dealing with my case professionally and smoothly. I would highly recommend.

My experience with Gordons Property Lawyers has been extremely disappointing from start to finish. Communication throughout my sale and purchase was consistently poor, with long delays, unanswered emails, and no proactive updates at key stages of the transaction.

Staff changed without any introduction or explanation, and on several occasions team members went on holiday without any handover or monitoring of my case. This left me completely unaware of who was responsible for progressing my file. Some interactions were noticeably rude, and basic questions were dismissed rather than answered.

The most serious issue is that, despite completion taking place almost a week ago and my mortgage being redeemed, my surplus funds have still not been released. No final completion statement has been provided, no confirmation of payment, and no explanation for the delay. Incorrect automated emails were also sent about an amended mortgage offer, causing unnecessary concern.

This level of service is far below what should be expected from a conveyancing firm, especially when dealing with client money. I would not recommend based on my experience.

Nothing but praise for both Holly and Michelle for leading the way to make my dreams come true and complete the purchase of my first house. Proactive with great communication from start to finish. Through no fault of Gordon's, the last couple of week before completion was extremely busy but Holly and Michelle were brilliant in getting everything done and I can't thank you both enough!
