If I could give this company zero stars, I would. They completely mishandled my policy by removing the wrong vehicle, and instead of lowering my premium, they actually increased it. I reached out to get this fixed, but no one could take responsibility or correct their own mistake. This level of incompetence and lack of accountability is unacceptable.
I have a classic car- declined insurance
I have a classic car I wanted to insure. Car is in restoration Mode right now. I went on line to get a quote but some of the questions don’t apply. So I called for a quote. Went thru the questions they asked me. When she asked me about how much horsepower I told her 800hp. Right away I was disqualified by their standards. The motor is not even in the car yet. Far from being on the road. I was very disappointed considering many car enthusiasts advised me that Hagerty was the best. Well not in my books.
Guaranteed Quotes Mean Nothing
Received a quote online (end of August). After calling in, 4 days later (Sept 2) was quoted a higher premium, 15% (+$100). Only 4 days went by. The rep and manager both claimed that rates went up. The online quote specifically says 30 days guaranteed! However there is no guarantee because if rates go up and then your rate changes. Why even state a guarantee if you’re not going to guarantee it? Horrible service!!!

I just cancelled my insurance policy. Hagerty billed me $409 more for my policy than the quote they sent me. They claimed my broker had verbally approved the increase, which my broker denies. I believe my broker. Since this made the Hagerty policy 25% more expensive, I cancelled and returned to my prior insurer.
Hagerty one of the worst
Hagerty won't insure people for reason that aren't logical most of the time. And they stand by it even if they are wrong. Even the other insurance companies out there aren't as stupid as Hagerty. I feel as though Hagerty does all these cool thing just to try to keep a clean image in the public eye. No one should trust Hagerty. If they don't have your back to begin with, why would you trust them if something happens to your classic car.
Ridiculous Demands !!
They told me that If you have, say 8 people in your home of legal driving age, each person has to have their own daily driver to ensure you won't use your beloved, cherished, classic car as a daily driver. Who would ? And even if you did, they would have no control over it anyways. It's beyond ridiculous. All they did was waste my time. Awful experience

Was a little difficult getting insurance sent many photos. Hagerty had a hard time ensuring as he looked at seven photos given yet thought in one photos the wheels were staggered so they wouldn’t ensure until I had to call to ensure it’s just the way the angle the photo was.
How did you receive my PIN number when they submitted my policy to Service Ontario I wasn’t able to renew my license plate renewal.
Prior to this pulled over by police charge for no insurance when I want him to go they advised the insurance company submitted wrong VIN number to the MTO.
I called Haggerty right away. Agent acknowledged not one but two numbers in a letter off in the policy sent to Ministry. Transportation agent was super fix. The problem was very disappointed as I have been so Instacart and have to pay a representative fee.
Agent’s reply it’s our responsibility to see policy screw ups?
Was very disappointed by that comment, and that Hagerty‘s gonna do nothing to at least cover someone of my retaining fees.

I would have left a good 5 star but for that huge era being an insurance company they should own that big mistake.

Everything the Hagerty does for clients is awesome, very clear and great for their clients.
I can log in and check policy and use…
I can log in and check policy and use the valuation tool to gain market knowledge and trends. This helps when purchasing a vehicle so I know not over paying or what trends to help with negotiations. While not infallible it is a gauge on what values are doing to help make decisions on selling and buying.
