They sold the lodge we were booked to stay in and I’ve been trying all week to get a reply to my emails and nothing so it looks like resolver and the ombudsman next

Terrible experience at Finlake

Terrible experience at Finlake. Arrived to unheated accomodation in January. Ruined first night of stay sitting in cold van with our coats on. Paid for premium. Response limited to platitudes with no responsibility taken. Recommend you book through a company that cares about their customers and brand.

I stayed at the Devon Hills Haulfryn…

I stayed at the Devon Hills Haulfryn site for one week and it deserves a complimentary review! The site was very well maintained overall and the newish “Hive” facility that includes an indoor pool, smallish but adequate and DDA accessible gym and bar/cafe facilities is a great place! The Luxury Lodge hot tub 4 l stayed in was a newer lodge and it was very very clean and had every accessory l needed! The site has ample parking and waste disposal facilities and a Launderette Overall I was very happy to have stayed there. One word of advice is don’t book Blagdon Way (no:s 1/2/3/4) as the noise from the road is constant until about 8/9 ish if this type of traffic noise bothers you.
I was out most days and so it wasn’t too much of a problem for me.

A word on Hoseasons, they are mostly awful!! But Haulfryn only use them which is a pity tbh.

Our revisit to Cornwall

We liked the that the Caravan was close to the Club Complex by walking.
On arrival at the club on the first night ready to pay for a pint, oh! we don't take cash I said nothing on the sites about this there's a sign over the by the window.
Ok was my reply. The only think which was a dislike in the Caravan was no plug to charge a shaver, not everyone has a shaver with USB charge facilities and also nowhere in either of the Bathrooms was there any hooks for house coat/dressing gown. We just had a feeling that Praa Sands Holiday Park was for Owners and Holidaymakers were a side line for revenue for owners and lets make no mistakes "This is not a 5 star Holiday venue sorry.

Absolutely do not care about their…

Absolutely do not care about their owners, greedy company, increasing site fees by a ridiculous % with zero investment in the site, not even a full time site manager anymore, intermittent access to facilities we should have full access too. Over 60% of site owners raised complaints but nothing changes. Do not buy a caravan or lodge with this company.

Great location but check everything is working

We stayed for a week to see family and friends in the area, having stayed last year and enjoyed the experience. With a few days to go until the holiday, we checked in to be told 'we don't allow commercial vehicles' on site - we said, 'it's not a commercial vehicle, it's a campervan' so were told 'we don't allow campervans on our site'. So I said what do we do with our expensive bikes then? Answer: lock them up on the balcony and park up the lane. As it was too late to change our plans as had 3 of us plus 3 bikes to transport plus all our luggage so we ignored this didact as completely impractical. (The site promotes itself as ideal location for walking and cycling but facilities for bikes like a bike wash and secure bike storage are non-existent.) We then received an email after a couple of days saying 'we don't allow campervans on the site bla bla bla'. So I responded saying it's not in your Ts&Cs and your website says 'ample parking' plus, due to illness, we need access to transport at all times. I could have added that we were not going to walk half a mile down a dark, narrow, dangerous country lane in the rain and leave our van in a public car park when there is a lot of theft around (had a bike stolen in Peaslake during the stay). Heard no more about it after that but after an awful year, it was a shame to have this extra stress to deal with.

We also had a leak in the kitchen that the maintenance guy said was the washing machine, it wasn't, and the thermostat was impossible to adjust so we were either boiling hot or chilly, depending on whether the room had a working rad or not. Again maintenance man didn't resolve these issues. Apart from these problems, which somewhat spoilt the holiday, it's a good value peaceful site and we will probably use it again as location is ideal but Ts&Cs should make it clearer what vehicles are and aren't allowed and why.

Poor state of vans…

Hi now staying at gimblet rock over xmas first van had no working boiler packed up again and moved to another van,no smoke alarm,worrying no working radiator in main bedroom,no blind up kitchen window,missing cooking equipment, not to clean,what can I say just poor.

Finlake

They desperately need an updated booking system, it's a technical nightmare and almost impossible to navigate. They have no email address and the park phone goes through to voicemail. Booked trip for 4 adults and a tiny baby and the issues are endless:

1. They use Ho Seasons as a booking agent, this is who you are transferred to when you call to book. The Ho Seasons website would only let us count the baby as an extra adult (so 4 bedded lodges with a cot weren't available when we added the baby). Agent on the phone had the same issue, so advised leaving her off to get the property we needed for our size of party.

2. The first two agents we spoke to gave a 'best guess' at the facilities at the property (e.g. washing machine, shower, etc - you can't view this on the website, it just says 'in selected properties'. They literally said 'it probably has a shower but there's no guarantee'. I guess some only have baths. With a young baby we need to know what is there). The third agent was much more helpful and able to look it up. However, despite him encouraging us to email him about the booking initially, as soon as we paid he went completely dark and ignored my queries. There's no email for the park and they don't answer the phones, so we're stuck. I have unresolved issues, for example: it doesn't specify on our booking confirmation that we need a pet free property, despite this being promised on the phone. Fingers crossed it's recorded in their system somewhere.

3. They never sent the code you need to book activities; the booking agent ignored this in my email and we had to call the park several times to get through and find out what it is (FLFLB0140970); they promised to also send it in an email - never arrived.

4. Suddenly, today, it is saying 'no reservation found' when we tried to log in with this number to book the pool. I've left two voicemail messages and they are not returning the calls.

Really hoping they haven't gone bust or something. It seems like the most unfit system for 2022, reminds me of when you used to call Teletext to book a holiday. I hope they'll return my calls (or even email me using the above ref number if someone sees this - it's really hard to answer the phone with a young baby and shocking that they just don't answer).

I'll update this review after our stay, if we ever get there! Just really hoping it's clean, reading some of the other reviews, I'm not overly confident!

11 Templar rise finlake.

Arrived at our lodge at finlake to find that it was in poor condition. The carpets were worn out and the sofas were hidden by vile poorly fitted covers. The lodge had a horrible smell too. There were nails sticking out of the post on the decking. I found photos of this lodge online and it had not been touched or maintained for ten years. The supervisor was not very helpful and didn't really want to move us and suggested a refund. After driving 250 miles the last thing we wanted to do was to have to find somewhere to stay. Thankfully hoseasons stepped in in arranged for us to have another lodge which was much nicer thankfully. Finlake seen to have no minimum standards and need to monitor the accommodation on their site better. Would also be great if they improved the vegetarian range on the menu especially for breakfast. Halloumi and garden peas are not my idea of breakfast and could offer vegetarian sausages instead.

Stay away from them they can not be trusted

We looked around the site and put a £3 k deposit o a lodge but then read the terrible reviews and the very next morning I told them we had changed out minds after reading the reviews. There is a 5 day Collins off period and obviously we are well in it. This was 19th June and we ares till waiting for our refund. I have just had to tell them if not in by tomorrow morning I will need to go to my bank to make a claim about them. I would be very wary of them.
Update is just checked and money in bank 👍

Can not get into your lodge until 5’0…

Can not get into your lodge until 5’0 clock due to cleaning.
What cleaning ???, the place was disgusting, couldn’t use the cooker due to being filthy, thick cobwebs on lighting above dining area, empty crisps packets left under beds, hot tub didn’t work, blinds in kitchen didn’t close, 6 coat hangers for 6 people (one each)
rusty kitchen stools, balcony furniture absolutely filthy, and the threshold on entering the lodge was black & didn’t look like it had ever been cleaned.
We reported this 4 times & each time we were told someone will come to lodge to check. No one came.
They have offered me as a good will gesture £50. Insult.
We will definitely not be going back ever.

Stayed at the most unhygienic and dirty…

Stayed at the most unhygienic and dirty lodge at Finlake Resort Devon.
Came away with bites on our skin from dirty bedding and mattresses.
Informed the resort and refunded £175 as a goodwill gesture on a holiday for a week costing over £800.
We wish other customers to know how bad the lodges on the resort where and to be cautious.
An holiday experience we never ever want to repeat and never stay at any of the companies other locations.

Devon Hills, Paignton

Devon Hills, Paignton (Hoseseasons)..
unfortunately the weather was rubbish, a deluge of rain every day, which you have to expect in the UK.
Now for the Devon Hills holiday site.!!!
The accommodation was not very well maintained, bathroom had to be re-cleaned!
We had to check for damages as they will take £100, so we reported three issues, which had not been reported, checking quality should be the sites responsibility.
We went for a meal @ 7pm we hadn't booked, the chef wasn't prepared to cook for us? the restaurant was less than 25% occupied? Fortunately, there are plenty of takeaways restaurant's nearby two miles away.
The jacuzzi is checked every morning about 9am, unfortunately the service personnel raise the covers and drop them at height making maximum noise, bare in mind your head is less than three feet away, on the other side of the van wall, so you get a rude awakening. We will not be coming here again and certainly wouldn't recommend this site..Sorry :( Brixham was a Great place to visit,,,

Do not buy from this company!!

Do not buy from this company. The sales rep lied through his teeth. Told us there would be no development on the site for at least five years. Tourers would not be allowed on the parking space next to the static. Told us the Internet was good enough to support up to ten devices. We have a business, so need to oversee it whilst away. No commercial vehicles allowed on site. Dogs allowed but only on a lead. Never mentioned that even if we sold privately there would be a 15% charge on the sale.
They start to develope next year and are filling every scrap of land. Tourers were parked next to us with the occupants using our decking to tie stuff too. The Internet was awful, barely supported one device. When I complained they said we could upgrade it for an extra £200 a year or £25 per week. Dogs were always running around off the lead and our dog doesn't like being approached by strangers dogs, luckily he never got hold of one. There were commercial vans regularly on sight. Plenty of dodgy looking characters in them. Partying until the early hours when 11pm was the rule. When we decided to sell because of all the issues we were charged loads ben though we sold privately. We were not properly reimbursed on paid fees. All in all it cost us thousands for a static we barely used!! Never again!! They just don't give a damn as long as they are making loads of money. Hopefully these companies will become regulated. The only good thing about Holmans Wood site was Brian the maintenance/groundsman guy. He was always helpful and a credit to them. The manager Clare was useless as a manager as she didn't resolved issues or enforce the rules. Its a real shame because it was a lovely quiet site.
