Absolutely dreadful customer service…
Absolutely dreadful customer service and no way to contact them other than by their message service, which incidentally, no one seems to respond to. I am sick of emailing this company. They took my money and gave me the wrong order, basically stealing! 6 weeks in and still nothing. I hope someone from this company has the decency to respond to this review and give me some answers.
Plants ordered and paid, but received 1/3 of the plants ONLY.
Plants ordered and paid more than two weeks. Only one-third of the Plants have arrived. No reply to online form or emails and do not have a phone number. Very disappointed, I wish I had read reviews before ordering.
Poor quality of several plants
I ordered nearly £900 of plants in August and September: a few were good, most were acceptable; but some were not as described, and very poor.
I contacted them: after seven days, back came the computer response of pictures needed of the plants and the white stickers on the pots. Most pots didn’t have them.
I sent the pictures: nearly three weeks on now, nothing more.
Plants are now on the compost heap.
Will never use them again.
Poor quality plants
I ordered various plants two weeks ago. They arrived today. To say the quality and condition of what arrived had very little resemblance to the website photographs would be an understatement. I can only compare them to the quality you sometimes see on a sales table at a garden centre when they are trying to flog off the poor quality plants. This purchase was a test run, we have a very large garden and need lots of plants. I would not buy from this website again.

I have 3 outstanding orders all paid for and no one to contact about it. all the orders on the tracking are supposed to be with the courier.
Growing excuses
My partner ordered 3 roses and one failed to grow we contacted this company and they wanted pictures so we sent pictures and then excuse after excuse for not sending another rose, will never purchase from this rubbish company again.
PLEASE don't use this company because....
This was my very first order from this company, I placed a order on about 20 perennials late September, they tell you about the plant, example in bloom etc, I was getting my order delivered and maybe I was abit nieve but I was expecting a waggon turning up with my 20 plants on a pallet, so i was shocked when DHL turned up with 3 cardboard boxes, I opened a box in front of him and said to him, there smaller than expected, he looked and said ooh plants, after throwing the boxes around as they didn't know what was in them, i opened the 3 boxes to be utterly gobsmacked to find most of the plants had been laid down facing each other with foliage, so most had lost there compost and most were broken or crushed, I took loads of pictures as I knew they wouldn't believe the state of them, i salvaged what I could and obviously got straight online to leave a complaint telling them and showing them the damage, 2 weeks passed heard nothing, so i sent another message and adding to this complaint that I was disgusted with the lack of communication, after another 6 days, I received a message saying " that most of the plants are Hardy types and would come back if I water them when they arrive and repot them on if needed, and they should be fine, but any problems I had to get back to them " they sent that 3 weeks after they were delivered, no apologise, no offer of compensation, no nothing. This company, by far, is the worst company, worst experience, I have ever come across, if this is how they run there business, they need closing down, the thing what hurts the most is that no management has made any kind of apology, its the most appalling company I've ever used.
Please don't spend your money with this company, I urge you to go elsewhere.
At this moment I am seeking some legal advice to get my money back.

Aweful never use them my plants were mouldy on arrival they took 7 weeks to arrive most died and they never ever reply to emails it's been 3 months and nothing from them

I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing . I think this company is the WORST I have ever used . Orders take forever to arrive and when they do the plants look like they have been in transit for weeks . If your plants survive you are lucky . Don’t try to communicate with this company as they just don’t reply …. How are they still trading . I think they should reported to trading standards . I wil just link this page with all negative reviews and let them do what they do .
Poor customer service
Poor customer service. My plant arrived damaged and I reached out to them immediately. They responded once and asked me.questions and never to be heard from again since my response. I do not trust this business and seeing the overall experience, it is clear that it is consistent. Something needs to be done about such businesses.
A dreadful experience
A dreadful experience. I bought 4 plants from them which apparently had been reduced from£17 to £3.99. They turned up in 1 litre pots which were meant to be 2 litre. They were dead twigs!! No response from them after two weeks. I’ll be claiming my money back through my credit card. Their guarantees mean nothing. I consider this theft!!
NO PLANTS
Plants have not arrived. It is impossible to get hold of GE to discuss this. They do not reply to online form or emails and do not have a phone number. Plants should have been collected over a week ago. I expect them to arrive in poor/dead condition. Don't expect a refund or compensation judging by other reviews. Wish I had read them before ordering, and wish I could give less than one star.
Good quality plants, but took some time to arrive
half of my order didn't arrive and their customer services was slow. but pleased to say I now have all of my plants, which look great!
i did not get what I ordered on 8th…
i did not get what I ordered on 8th September 2025 but no one from gardening express is responding to my requests for either a refund or a delivery. So basically they’ve taken my money and not delivered and are now ignoring me. Such a shame as I’ve used this company for many years but something seems to have changed in the last year. I ordered a pair of holly bushes, 2 pots and a bag of compost for my brother‘s Xmas present last year: he told me later that all he received from me before 25th was a bag of compost! Funny now, but he was too polite to say anything at the time!

My experience wasn't pleasant, some wrong products were sent and no matter how u tried to contact their customer service no one gets back to me, I sent at least 10 emails!! No contact number available either.. I will not recommend them to anyone
Very poor customer service
Very poor customer service. Purchased two Buxus trees advertised with “Flared BLACK SLATE Planters”. Two nice trees arrived but with two small black plastic planters. The word Plastic does not appear in their advertisement.
Emailed company stating disappointment in planters as they were also too small for trees. Their reply was “this is the only size we do and that we the customer is welcome to send them back at our own expense “.
My suggestion to this company is improve their marketing of said planters so customers are under no illusion as to what they will receive. Would not recommend this company.
Awful company
Awful company. Shoddy half dead, broken and infested plants. No telephone service for what becomes obvious when you use their contact form. They don't reply and when they do use delaying tactics and when all else fails they revert to ignoring. Report them to Trading Standards as currently they are getting away with daylight robbery as judging by the other reviews this seems to be a regular pattern of behaviour
Terrible company
Terrible company. I ordered 5 plants only one of which has survived. I planted the other 4 according to care instructions with the hope that they would improve but they have subsequently died. Because this process took longer than 14 days I am not eligible for a refund or replacement. It's a joke, clearly on their website it says 100% satisfaction guarantee but that is clearly not true.

Ordered a tree from this company when it arrived it was dead no signs of life at all. I contacted this company several weeks ago to see if they would refund me or at the very least replace it. Not even a single reply. Avoid this company at all costs.
Lousy customer service and illegal trading
This shabby company sent me a plant that was half-dead on arrival and failed to grow. I followed their refund process to the letter, but the guarantee which they purport to give customers is worthless - as you find out when you try to claim.
Their published T&Cs say that they do not refund outward or return postage costs when someone returns defective goods. That is a breach of the Consumer Rights Act 2015. So is their refusal to provide a cash refund for the defective goods when requested; instead they try to fob you off with a gift voucher. That refusal is also against the same legislation. Those refusals also contradict the final line in their own T&Cs, which says "THE STATUTORY RIGHTS OF THE CUSTOMER ARE NOT AFFECTED OR ALTERED BY THIS GUARANTEE." Meaning that they cannot opt out of the legislation, regardless of what the rest of their T&Cs purport to say. But that's exactly what they do ; they are trading illegally.
They also refuse to provide a contact phone number, instead routing all complaints via a customer "service" centre - whose job is to turn away any claims for cash refunds and postage costs with a stock line saying "we told you we don't do refunds".
They are clearly operating illegally, and I recommend that anyone thinking of buying plants looks elsewhere. Anyone who has been refused a refund should report them to their local Trading Standards team. If you can put up with the admin hassle, also bring a claim against them in the Small Claims Court.
