Absolute Scammers

Descriptions not clear on vehicles. They put the VAT status of their vehicles far down on a separate tab. The load on 2 sets of fees all put into 1 section on the bidding platform Bidspotter. We then cancelled the sale of a vehicle we bid £48k on to which the invoice was made out to over £81k. Cancelled sale and they almost instantly sent out a Statutory Demand. Shows that they do this often, but they got their legalities wrong and didn't think we would put up a fight. We now have an interim injunction against them filing a winding up petition that has been threatened from day 1. Legal advisors have said they have very questionable business tactics which won't hold up well in business court especially if they have been in prison before for their questionable business activities. As soon as we responded to their threats, they turned to replies like you are just wasting time and drowning us in litigation so we will just action the winding up petition. These people clearly have never had anyone come back at them and from other reviews it seems like people have just folded to their demands and paid them. Avoid this and Bidspotter at all costs. It's not worth the hassle and stress caused to us

NEVER BUY FROM HERE!!! Unprofessional Scammers

NEVER BUY FROM HERE!!!
If I could give a negative star review I would!
Unprofessional and unclear, rude and blunt members of staff
Over £3500 in fees were charged on a £3400 car.
They change auction timing, and reserves, just so that they can give me the car, did not even show up on my account, and then proceeded to combine my invoice, then charged late fees 3%. I was forced to pay, as they wouldn’t release any of my cars.
When I went to collect vehicles, and had spent almost £10,000, they couldn’t wait a few mins for me to tax and insure my vehicle, they told us to leave the yard so they can close up forcing me onto the roadside.
Cars not as described at all.
They scam people! Would never buy again!

The devil is in the detail BEWARE

The devil is in the detail, BEWARE this auction house is very black/white no grey no discretion.
They take an admin fee accepted, they take 32% on top of the hammer price.
They take 3% late payment fees no exceptions or latitude
Auction closes Friday afternoon, they want paying by 5pm Saturday no exceptions or latitude, even though our bank does no process transactions sat/Sunday. They confirmed bid was accepted at 15.03 on Friday afternoon whilst i was away, they sent an invoice shortly after & e mailed reminders over the weekend,
despite the fact I did inform them of, we would settle the invoice the following day, without realising the banks would not process until the Monday, as we have a daily limit on our account we paid the balance the following day in full. They the hit us with another invoice for their sales commission which was over £8 k, their admin fees of £695 , OK the late payment fees of over £4 k for late payment & storage. We contested the late payment fees they his behind their T&Cs.
All that said the lot was described as coming with all manuals & warranted miles, reality was the delivery driver brought the new keeper slip that was all, nothing else in the vehicle. On checking the vehicle there was no locking wheel nut key either. They said they would ask the vendor
We have chased them all week, they claim they handed the docs to the delivery company, they deny that & I believe them.
Basically they are not interested, in my opinion they are modern day highwaymen, who have taken as much money as they could from our purchase.
WOULD NOT EVER USE THEM AGAIN

My experience with Joseph Jones &…

My experience with Joseph Jones & Partners has been absolutely appalling.

I purchased a vehicle through their auction with a hammer price of just **£2,500**. What followed was, in my opinion, a relentless and deeply distressing ordeal. Within approximately two weeks, I was being pressurised into paying **almost £4,000** in additional charges following a series of notices threatening bankruptcy proceedings and severe financial consequences if payment was not made promptly. This was despite the fact that I had not even taken possession of what ultimately turned out to be a piece of scrap.

In my opinion, the fee structure was fragmented and not presented in a clear and transparent manner. The various charges, penalties and late fees appeared to escalate rapidly, leaving me feeling trapped and with very little option but to pay.

What I find particularly concerning is that the vehicle was described as **"Categorised Total Loss – Hence Price."** However, this critical information was not prominently displayed alongside the main auction details. Instead, it only became apparent much further down the listing, after scrolling through extensive specifications and descriptions.

Even now, I struggle to understand the wording **"Hence Price"** in the context of a live auction. How can anyone write **"Hence Price"** when nobody knows what the final hammer price will actually be? The whole purpose of an auction is that the market determines the price through competitive bidding. In my opinion, wording of this nature is ambiguous and fails to adequately convey the significance of a vehicle having been declared a total loss. Information of this importance should be displayed clearly and prominently at the very top of the listing, not buried deep within the description.

I have been buying through auction platforms for many years and have spent substantial sums over that time, yet this has been one of the worst experiences I have ever encountered. Having read other reviews, it appears that many others have also raised serious concerns regarding Joseph Jones & Partners.

My advice to anyone considering bidding with this auction house is simple: **proceed with extreme caution.** Read every single line of the listing, scrutinise every fee, and do not assume that important information will be highlighted clearly or transparently. Based on my personal experience, I would strongly recommend keeping a very wide berth.

This review reflects my genuine personal experience and opinions arising from my dealings with Joseph Jones & Partners.

The worst seller ever.

The worst seller on all years we are buying from Auctions in Uk. It is a hard word to descripe this company as a scammer but actually is the most accurate as they sell me a vehicle with too many problems that never wrote on the description. In order to understand how unprofessional they are it was an electric vehicle and they didn't even charge it when I sent someone to collect it. So unprofessional. But the worst from all by far is that they charge too many fees and comissions that you could not imagine (to be honest I had to see it before) but it is hidden in a way so they force you later to pay. Avoid this company at any cost.

Avoid

Avoid – Hidden Charges & Rude Staff
Very bad customer service. The staff were rude and unhelpful when asked simple questions. Instead of explaining properly, they kept saying “it’s mentioned,” even when the information was not clearly advertised.
There were hidden additional charges that were not made clear upfront. The cars are not properly advertised and are not as described. When you raise concerns, they are dismissive and unprofessional.
Overall, a very disappointing experience. I would strongly advise others to avoid this auction.

Very Disappointing Experience

Very Disappointing Experience – Hidden Charges & Unprofessional Staff
I used to buy from different auctions regularly, but this was by far the worst experience I’ve had.
The staff were rude, untrained, and completely unprofessional in the way they spoke to customers. After winning a vehicle with a bid of £4,500, I was shocked by the constant additional charges. The first invoice was already much higher than expected. After paying that, I was sent another invoice for an additional £1,728 with no proper explanation.
As a trader, this kind of lack of transparency is unacceptable. In the end, I paid £8,200 for a car that was originally bid at £4,500.
When collecting the vehicle, they refused to provide the full logbook and only gave the green slip. The entire process felt disorganized and unprofessional.
At the very least, the auction should ensure their staff are properly trained and know how to communicate respectfully with customers. I will not be using this auction again.

£6378 on a hammer price of £3500 for a car worth £2000

Additional charges of over £1120 applied once I had paid the auction price of £3500 + £695 admin. fees. This meant I had paid an additional £1815 on the hammer price. When I collected the car, it was filled with bluemold due to rain penetration. The car had many warning lights and was in limp mode. The air conditioning and heating systems didn't work, and the timing chain needs replacing. I paid a total of £6378 for a 2017 Range Rover Evoque, which was little more than scrap

Mr Andrews,

In response to your recent review...

Firstly, All applicable fees are clearly highlighted within the 'Additional Fees Tab' - As a returning customer with iBidder.com we would certainly assume you are aware of how 'Additional Fees' are displayed.

As for the vehicle itself, Having looked into this we can confirm that the vehicle in question was entered into a 'Non Graded Sale' However, Viewing & Inspection was most welcome prior to bidding.

We would simply ask, Why did not not View or Inspect the lot prior to bidding to fully satisfy yourself.

Also to add, At the point of collection you did not express these feelings to our staff either ?

Nevertheless, Best wishes for the future.

STAY WELL CLEAR LEGAL SCAMMERS

DO NOT USE STEER CLEAR. LEGAL SCAMMERS.
Bid on rangerover didn't make reserve. Went out country for 10 days after a few days I realised they had dropped reserve I had won it. I called them to say ile sort it when I get back. As soon as I got back I payed them about 3.5k. Then they hit me with another 2700 for storage and late fee's ten said do you know its spare or repairs. they asked me if I want to cancel but it would cost me as much as I've payed allready and I had to do it now. That's when alarm bells rang. I left it and they were really arsy when I asked what's the total they said to late we've canceled sale and wanted another £274 for the privlage. I had payed for vehcle I just owed late fees and storage andnever said i did not want the vehcle just wanted fee's addressing. SCAMMERS. I've been on deep Web doing my research and been looking into the stretton family that run it. Interesting reading just doing a search on their personal addresses only got gingers but will have Billy's and haigs soon and post them if anybody want to try takeing direct legal action.

i wanted to add regarding this bunch of crooks. they got me to write a email to them for me to get out of the auction and this email traps me in every way to try to claim any money back. even though none runner was hidden and the millage on the van was in fact 30,000 more then they advertised the van to have. if i save one person from losing there cash to these legal fraudsters, i won a little bit. the mot was April 2025 with 119.000 miles and i bought the van on may 1st 2025 advertised with 89,000 miles. crooks and in a year or so they will close the company and start another. ibidder should do something to help. shame on them.
