Worst bank ever!!!
Worst bank ever!!!! Stay away from keybank, they always holding your money for nonsense. key bank makes it difficult for you to wire money. They are full of it!!!
I would give a zero star if possible
I would give a zero star if possible. Key bank is exploiting it's clients y placing bogus holds on all deposited checks. I've been banking with key for over a decade without issues on my end and they still hold every check for 7 days. This is so they can use my money for their investment branch without my consent or cutting me in. The staff os extremely rude every time i call and management avoids calls like the plague. A terrible place to bank.

This is the worst corrupt bank I've…
This is the worst corrupt bank I've ever dealt with. They are literally trying to extort me for money. They are just demanding I pay them and wire them money without any reason or paperwork stating why. The people I've been dealing are Dawn Quint and Garett Beecher they are either completely incompetent or crooks because I have correspondence covering everything I've ever done with this bank and yet they said nope none of that matters and you owe us money. They now doubled my mortgage payment. I reported them for bank fraud and am now obtaining a lawyer. I will be suing for extortion, discrimination and pain and suffering. Please stay away they are horrible racists! They are trying to take away my rights because of the color of my skin.
TL;DR KeyBank has a company-wide policy where they don’t issue provisional credit to small businesses affected by fraud until their investigation can be completed. This can take up to 90 days.
We are going through a bit of a nightmare with KeyBank right now, so I just wanted to share this as a cautionary tale for any other businesses who already have an account with them or for those businesses considering opening an account.
I’m a bit paranoid about fraud, so I check my bank accounts every day. Last Thursday morning (03/27) I checked our business checking account with them and discovered that somebody had placed two separate charges totaling over $1,800. I did not get a fraud alert, despite these charges being made to two incredibly odd vendors and being for such high dollar amounts.
I immediately flagged this to KeyBank as fraud. They locked the account, issued a new card in the mail, and said that things would be fully resolved within 90 days. “Great!” I said to myself as a closed the chat, everything was resolved.
However, the next day I checked to see that money still missing from our account. I followed up on the live chat and their verbatim response was “Upon reviewing ‘We anticipate having your dispute resolved within 90 days.’”
And so I said to clarify, do they mean that $1,800 could be missing from our account for up to 90 days and they said, “That is correct.”
At this point furious, I sent an email to our local branch manager who set our account up. He called and apologizes, saying he would escalate it and then gave me an update a few days later via email, which verbatim read, “The response I just got back from my escalation was that Business accounts will not receive provisional credit.”
Still incredulous, I followed up again with KeyBank live chat just to be sure this really was company policy, and they once again informed me that they don’t issue the money back until the investigation is completed, which can take up to 90 days.
So here I am, having just used a lot of our reserve cash to pay for tax prep and pay for taxes, now essentially unable to place new orders for our shop until this is resolved. This has caused me so much stress and really is a huge blow to us, since I manage our budget incredibly carefully and in our retail business we really need to have that cash which I had allocated to place new inventory orders. Every time I chat with another agent, they all offer the same extremely callous response that it can take up to 90 days with absolutely no sympathy for the situation.
From what I’ve read about other major banks like Chase, if something like this happened they would issue the provisional credit immediately, no questions asked, then continue their investigation on the back end.
If I had known this was KeyBanks' business policy, there is absolutely no way I would have opened an account with them. If you are a business with a KeyBank account, I highly recommend closing it immediately and switching to another bank that actually protects its customers. If you are a new business shopping around for bank options, I highly recommend not using KeyBank. I sincerely hope nobody else has to go through this.
This Bank has total disregard for the…
This Bank has total disregard for the vision of consumers by blasting their TV commercials with a BRIGHT white screen background. With modern Ultra 4k TV’s the screen is literally blinding. As a result of their disregard for consumers having to deal with this poor decision of background color choice I would NEVER consider doing business with them!
Key needs to look up empathy
Key needs to look up empathy! I served this country with vigor and dedication. I picked KeyBank for my VA loan benefit BIG mistake. I'm disabled had my income changed around SS comes 3rd week retirement the end of the month requested a date change to avoid late fees. I have know control over this and they know this. No empathy here still threats with late fees. What a joke I got a letter today March 31 talking about my call on Jan 14 loss megation I know they really care about veterans! if it takes that long to address a situation you are not the BANK for Veterans! So Stop lying about a community want to help! 😔
Refused to cash Colorado State Income Tax refund…
Refused to cash State income Tax refund under $1000 for customer of 4 years with checking and savings accounts in good standing. Reason given was State Tax Refund check drawn on Wells Fargo Bank. KeyBank's rating of 1.4 is deceptive - you have to give them 1 star to write a review - their rating should be 0.4

This is the second week my simple Hassle Free account has been in the negative due to Key Banks negligence with their quote end quote. Deposit issues on 03/03/2025. I am low income and had my taxes come back split the refund between check/savings and made a withdrawal of $330.00 I have the receipt from the day. I had $270.00 left afterward. I made two more deposits that day into said account.. Overnight I am $200.00- ! The next day fixed. Two days later overnight $245.00-! I call the AVR and They claim issues with deposits being deducted... They freeze my account I can't make payments, get the run around at 3 branches excuses etc. They credit my withdrawal trying to fix the deposit issues then debit my account $330.00- again? Putting me $269.00 and treat me like I did something wrong. My deposits from 3/3/2025 are still missing causing the overdraft and 5 call center executives later no resolution?? I have been hacked or someone within their bank did this I have a date stamped receipt from Friday in the branch $65.00 in my account Saturday morning 03/7 -$269.99 I spent nothing! They are giving me the run around and have taken my money. They are horrible. No consistent explanation of the error and it's effecting my credit. A bunch of poorly spoken, poorly trained employees who really don't care about the clients whatsoever.
Horrible company
KeyBank is terrible at customer service and taking advantage of its customers. They waited over two years to inform me that I was behind on escrow, all due to their assessments. When I inquired to see if we had possibly caught up to avoid paying an extra $600 per month, they failed to follow up until I messaged them seven months later, only to discover that not only were we caught up but we had overpaid. I also had an appraisal done by US Bank and a verified appraiser, sent it in to try to get my $376 PMI dropped. They said the appraisal had to be done internally by them, and I had to pay $190 for someone to take pictures of my property and tell me that my $1,100 appraisal from US Bank, valuing my property at $614,000, was wrong and that my property was only valued at $525,000. It seems like a lowball internal appraisal to keep taking my money, as if it's not hard enough to make ends meet in this economy. Anyway, stay away from KeyBank and consider doing your mortgage through anyone else
Corporate Greed
Here is the review I will post everywhere I can. Gone are the days of customer service. And by that, I do not mean to disparage the people that answer the phone. I'm talking about people that make decisions at your company. People are really starting to make difficult changes to combat corporate greed... so I hope at some point, you all feel the pain of customers leaving you.
I've been with Key Bank for a while. Each year, perks are removed or reduced. I'm old school... all I want is a paper copy of my statement. Now, they want $3 per month for a paper copy. It sounds ridiculous, but I am changing banks over this. It's just the last straw. They already changed me to a non-interest bearing account. I guess the 16 cents per year I was making in interest was too much for them to handle. Meanwhile they use my money sitting in the bank to their advantage. Also, ask yourself, when you pay your credit card bill online... a credit card that is from the same bank as your checking account... the money is immediately removed from your checking account, yet it takes nearly 4 days to post on your credit card. Insane.
Just moved here
Just moved here. Went in to open new accounts (checking & money market) plus safe deposit box. Waited 15 minutes. Bank employee came and told us someone would be with us shortly. 10 minutes later - still waiting. Decided to leave. Bank employee told us it would be another 5 minutes. I guess they didn't want our money.

This is the worst bank on this side of the Mississippi. Horrible customer service
3 holds on 1 check. Accuse customers of being criminals.
Stay away from keybank
They want to control how I spend my money
I was buying gift cards to be able to do some online casino play because the Key Bank debit card I had wouldn't work on BetRiver online.
Now I get a call from Mr. Antonio Crayton of heir fraud department. I told him that I made all those purchases and there was no fraud involved whatsoever. Not being happy he decided to send this for review within Key Bank, but my debit cards are frozen and I can only for transactions at the branch office. Unacceptable. I thought PNC was bad, but I'm going ack to them. At least they treat me with respect. Remember his name...Antonio Crayton.
SIMPLY THE BEST!
I go to the Keybank on Main St. In Niagara Falls. I absolutely LOVE this branch! The workers there are very knowledgeable and friendly. Tasha and Tracy are both wonderful! I always leave there with a smile on my face.
Always frustrating, never helpful
I find it VERY unusual that customers cannot make ACH payments from their Key Bank checking accounts to other people or accounts, as I have at other banks. I also find it VERY frustrating that this information is unavailable on Key Bank's website. The only way to get assistance is to go to a branch or call an 800 number. The people who answer on the 800 number are no help, having to go to the branch defeats my ability to do my banking online, when I have time to do so.
Keybank — travelers beware
Keybank’s fraud controls block are inconsistent and a little ridiculous. I travel multiple times a year to a single city in Germany and Keybank regularly allows some transactions and then freezes my card due to its fraud controls. Each time it takes a half hour of my time to unfreeze the card. The controls are tripped even for small transactions.
Inherited CD from deceased relative
Inherited CD from deceased relative. Kept in CD until maturity to avoid fees.
Unable to move funds to another bank without going into a branch office 3000 miles away to authorize ACH or wire transfer.
This bank is living in the stone ages technology wise.
Best to keep money in banks that have modern policies. You will have trouble getting your money if you are not near one of their branches.
I'm disabled living in Anderson Indiana…
I'm disabled living in Anderson Indiana and KeyBank's ATM stole $300 from me on January 2nd at 9:23 am. Took money from my account but didn't give me my money.
Their customer service told me that they can't do anything about it even though it's their ATM. Don't use them. They are more than willing to steal from the disabled .
They are thieves and liars willing to let others suffer.
they froze my account saying they…
they froze my account saying they suspect fraudulent activity, days later they sent a letter to go to the bank and open an account and they'd transfer any of my money in first account into new account. I had 30 days to to this and went to the bank on day 14. They bank said there was no authorization even though i showed them the letter. I called fraud and they called the branch which had not reached out to me. I asked fraud can they just open it and they said it was sent to another dept. So, the left hand doesn't know the right had is doing and has no concern of me keeping the account. Is there no good trustworthy banks around ?
