Cleo did an outreach workshop with the Young Adult Carers I work with. It was tailored perfectly to their needs - Cleo was relatable and empathic, pitching the subject of mental health and Kooth in an informal, down to earth way that enabled the YP to engage fully with what was going on.

I waited over 2 hours and then gave up. This is the 3rd time I've logged on and not been able to get a chat.
Looking at the other reviews on here I'm not the only one that thinks this is a terrible service. Thankfully I've managed to get help elsewhere wirh an actual counsellor, not a robot.

I waited for a while for my chat queue and I received a message saying that I cannot join it as I have a named person, but I already told them I was struggling and they did not take this into account. The named person I had was not available and I was struggling a lot at the time.
Not only this, they do not let me join a forum and it was not even stated what age group it was for, I was very excited to connect and join the live forum and when I received the message saying I could not join it, I was very disheartened and disappointed. I messaged back saying I was able to join a forum in the past but still have not received a response.

I used this site when I was in year 11. At the time I was going through severe mental health issues due to bullying and exam stress. I tried using this site two years ago in hopes for finding support and guidance, only to be left undesired.
Every time I tried to reach out to a counsellor, their responses were incredibly dull and focused more on sticking to a script rather than truly listening to my calls for help. They would always promote a live chat session that could not guarantee an opportunity to speak with an actual counsellor. In fact, they kicked me out of the queue multiple times! They could not keep promises they made, and their service is absolutely appalling!
In conclusion, I would not recommend this site to anyone!

One time i felt pretty left out of my friend group, so i went on Kooth and messaged a member of staff. The reply back felt so robotic and automated it was crazy, the worst part was the only piece of advice they gave me was to join a live call. If i had any intention on doing that, which i don’t and never will, i would have just done that in the first place.

It's as if Kooth prioritizes quantity over quality in its counseling services.
Furthermore, the response time from counselors is inconsistent, and there is a noticeable lack of real-time interaction. Waiting for a response can be frustrating, especially when dealing with urgent mental health concerns. The asynchronous nature of communication on Kooth diminishes the effectiveness of the counseling experience.
The platform also claims to offer a sense of community through forums and group discussions. However, the community aspect is marred by a lack of moderation and the presence of potentially triggering content. Kooth's commitment to fostering a safe and supportive environment for users seems half-hearted at best.
Privacy concerns are another significant issue. While Kooth emphasizes the importance of user confidentiality, the security measures in place are questionable. Users entrust the platform with sensitive personal information, and the lack of transparency about data protection measures raises serious red flags.
In conclusion, Kooth fails to deliver on its promises of accessible, quality mental health support. From a confusing user interface to subpar counseling services and privacy concerns, the platform leaves much to be desired. In the ever-growing landscape of digital mental health solutions, Kooth stands out as a disappointing option that falls short of meeting the needs of those seeking genuine and effective support.

Not sure what’s gone wrong with this site but it used to be amazing years ago and staff would be like “hi lovely how are you?” Or send me emojis which would really cheer me up but then it all became robotic? I reckon it’s all bots now. When I asked they said they’re not allowed to do that anymore? Why? Now it’s so impersonal and business like I feel like a number not a person anymore. I get hugs from my CAMHS worker and teachers but can’t get smiley face from Kooth 😂? And don’t get me started on the wait times to try and talk to someone. Bring back the old Kooth cos this one just ain’t working 😭

Great idea, terrible execution. 4 of my posts weren’t even reviewed or looked at and immediately deleted by Kooth, and there was nobody who would tell me why or talk about what was upsetting me. It was fine by the guidelines and I tried to many times, but I felt invalidated and hurt by what felt like lack of care. Would not recommend.
