We went to the Covent Garden store…

We went to the Covent Garden store today as I wanted an authentic panama. I was not disappointed. From the moment I walked in I cannot stress how accommodating the staff member was. He was so knowledgeable and knew from looking at me the exact size I required. I am thrilled with my purchase and would highly recommend this shop. Such a pleasant experience. Thank you

Stay away, don’t even bother

Made a purchase more than a month ago and have yet to receive it. Emailed their “customer service” twice, and they didn’t even bother to respond. Filed a complaint with PayPal. Stay away, don’t even bother.

Bought their navy wool mariner cap

Bought their navy wool Mariner cap. I thought from the website that they were made in UK - came with Made in France label. 'Premium-grade wool' = 70% wool. Disappointed in that I thought I was paying a premium price for Made in UK.

An excellent experience.

My trip to the Covent Garden shop was thoroughly enjoyable. The shop is well stocked. The staff are delightful, very professional and helpful but also lively, bright and individual.
The hats, of which I now have 5, are irresistible, beautifully made and practical.

I brought a hat as brithday present for…

I brought a hat as brithday present for my partner. However, there is no advice about returns. Received with no invoice and I do not have an account or any advice about how I should go about this? Please can laird hatters explain to me how, I am to return my goods, the hat is fine but just too big, I would like to exchange size from M to S.

A London Must!

I discovered Laird Hatters on my first trip to London in September 2023. The salesperson was extremely friendly and helpful, the selection was great and the quality is apparent. I live in Los Angeles so I decided on a Linen Newsboy cap. I wear it all the time. So, when I was in London in March of 2024, I had to stop in and get another hat. This time I got a Diamond Silk Brooklyn Cap. I'm planning another trip to London this October and Laird Hatters will be one of my first stops!

Quality and durability

Quality of product, packaging and speed of dispatch all excellent.
My only criticism on the utility range would be to extend the sizing. It's a paradox to think I would have to reduce pub visits and only wear your garments at home.

Styles are boring and outdated

Styles are boring and outdated. Showed a pic of a hat that David Beckham wore in his doc series and her reply was that they don’t make that style. We're talking about David Beckham here.

Pleasure to deal with

It’s a pleasure to deal with you, whether over the phone or in person at one of your shops
All the staff I deal with are really polite and very helpful which is very refreshing in this day and age

hat was delayed by over three weeks…

hat was delayed by over three weeks without any update provided / 55cm is a a very loose fit compared to before / very expensive for what it is now / I have bought over 10 hats in the past from Laird, this is probably my last.

Just avoid this shop.

The staff is very friendly and definitely sweet-talker but I just want to point out several facts based on my personal experience.

1) Just watch out that the store does not do any returns or refunds and this is never communicated upfront. It’s my first time coming across such because most if not all UK store honour a return or refund without questions regardless of the reasons. I brought my friend from the States to get a Father’s Day gift but we later found out Father wants something else instead. So, we walked back to the store to return it since it longer fits our purpose, plus we’ve never opened the packaging. We were rejected upfront. Had this been communicated while we were shopping, we could’ve just video call and ask Father at the store.

2) We were then told to search for the HQ number on the website and call if we insist on the return. The number isn’t working but we’re giving the benefit of the doubt that it’s the weekend so we will try again. Meanwhile, we submitted our request via the website but soon learned that you can only submit the form with a UK phone number. I now fully understand why the lady has wished us luck as she turned us away from the shop.

3) As we were trying our luck on the website, I notice that there’s a 10% discount if you make your first purchase on the website. This deal is clearly not given to store customer but I thought it’d be good to share with the readers who’re taking the time to read this review. Each cap costs at least £90 so that’s about 2 cups of inflated coffee for you.

4) If your purchase is made using credit card, you’re covered under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Protection and this gives you a platform to speak with your bank for your onward action.

Laird’s customer service is excellent

Visited the Oxford Store and was very impressed with quality, styles and selections. But I was most impressed by the excellent customer service I received when I discovered (days later and back in London) I purchased the wrong hat size. Office manager Debbie worked with me across the miles to make things right! My husband couldn’t be happier…his hat fits perfectly! Thank you Debbie!

Nice, expensive hats, shocking customer service.

I have bought a number of hats and caps from Laird. The quality has been good, the products expensive but worthwhile. However, the quality of customer service is shocking.

I recently ordered three hats from them. I had to return one as it was the wrong size (their mistake, not mine - the simply shipped a different size). I emailed them to say I would return it but felt it wrong to have to pick up the postage cost (£7.65) as it was their error. They ignored the email completely. I have now sent two further emails, neither have which have been responded to. The seeming contempt with which they treat their customers is appalling.
