365 THE WORST ONLINE WORD PROCESSOR
What a remarkable fall from excellence to an outright disappointing product. After more than 40 years of development, Word should have stood as the gold standard of word processing—both online and offline. Instead, the shift toward the 365 model feels like a step sideways at best, and backwards at worst.
Documents feel less like personal property and more like something temporarily borrowed. The inability to fully control or delete uploaded files raises legitimate concerns around privacy and security.
Core features are also slipping. Automatic language detection struggles to distinguish between English and French, and word suggestions often feel disconnected from natural writing.
For a product with such a long legacy, this direction is difficult to justify. Progress should refine and elevate—not complicate and restrict.
It proves that greed has an inherent curse to short-circuit progress. And in all their knowledge, they ended up with a debased mindset. They went backwards in their thinking.
