MakerBot Avis 136

I’m one of the original owners of a MakerBot 3D Printer. In the last 15 years I purchased four other 3D Printers, including an upgrade to A Replicator Plus. The mechanical reliability and ease of use is so excellent, the MakerBot machine is the only one I currently use. The only problems I can point to have been in ordering materials. Log in security was such a nightmare, I had to call MakerBot help lines more than once to straighten it out. I assume this is a particular problem with MakerBot, because it hasn’t occurred with any other online log in security I've used. It should be noted the latest version of MakerBot Print software no longer allows me to transfer my CAD Fusion 360 drawings in one step to an .stl MakerBot printing file. Finally, i’ve never been able to make a clean print from a MakerBot laser scanner. It seems like an insufficient software issue.

In conclusion, however, I love my Replicater Plus. I’ve used mine to repair numerous household items, build housing for electronic devices, robots, toys and jewelry. Thingiverse is a brilliant idea, and I use it frequently for ideas and fun builds. I’m forever excited about the creativity the MakerBot Printer stimulates.

The product has some shortcomings as do most (all?) 3D printers. However, MakerBot support makes up for them.

MakerBot print quality, reliability, and speed has all been on a steady decline. My makerspace has multiple generations of MakerBots, the older ones are more reliable, faster, and have better print quality with less fuss than the newer generations. Print issues on the older generations are also easier to diagnose and fix. They do have some good quality machines, but print quality over time is beaten by machines that cost one third the price, and are easier to maintain.

Machines are low quality and customer service is very slow. I regret purchasing the makerbots.

The Z18s we purchased has been a great addition to our classes. Working with the guys from Makerbot is so easy. They are friendly but professional. They also go above and beyond, especially working with us because we're always on a tight deadline. I appreciate doing business with them.

The order was great but I wish you had the maker club back again. :(

Equipment works great,except I cannot successfully connect the Tough PLA Extruder and make it work. I have 2 of them, and they are useless.

I like the REPLICATOR+ becauase it is VERY EASY to use as it is is just like a regular printer that's ONLY print a XEROXGRAPHIC, other copy paper does

The Makerbot replicator 2 has been nothing but problems. The wiring was designed in such a way that it failed in exactly the same way after a year in both my machines. The builds often delaminate or peel away from the base tray. I would not recommend them.

Always take care of all my needs. Couldn't thank Makerbot more for their consistently great service. Ramon and Company are always on the job!

Great products, great support!

Though I have not had to get further support from Makerbot, that area was the weakest link. The printer works great and I have not trouble getting filament quickly from their website.

Extruders have been my only problem. When I first received the Makerbot, I went through multiple extruders until the Extruder+ was received. I was not aware of the Extruder+ until someone at a technology convention told me about it. Upon returning from the convention, I was able to obtain an Extruder+ and it was better. I still had some clogs but not as often.

I was happy with the time frame when I received my package.

MakerBot has done an excellent job of making a user friendly 3D printer. The custom settings are easy to understand the final results are often great.
