Cleaning with Brush while we eat - Muffin Break Essex…
My name is Mike. Our visit was to Muffin Break Essex which is situated in a mall off the high street near Berger king. Facility was empty upon our arrival. We entered and placed an order. while we sat and waited, a member of staff was sweeping the floor nearby. To my surprise when our cake and coffee arrived, the lady continued with the sweeping throwing dust into the air where we were eating. This was a slightly unusual behavioural pattern for Cleaning teams.
We had two large cappuccinos £4.00, both of which were fine and stayed nice and hot throughout the period that we were in the facility. We also had coffee cake which for my personal taste was okay but a little sticky for cake. The size of the cake was reasonable but the product was £4.85 which was somewhat expensive. My partner had carrot cake which is a large square cake and apparently tasted okay but also £4.85. We decided to Try another cake we took a sample of Biscoff cheesecake. This is the most expensive £5.35. It however happened to be the best of the three cakes from my personal point of view? Overall, the experience was okay spoiled only by somebody sweeping around the tables when the place was practically empty. I would’ve expected the cleaning lady to clean the tables to the rear of the facility which are empty and clear and then come to the front and perhaps reposition people as they arrive so that they go to the rear of facility which is already clean and they can then continue to clean the front of the facility. Only one operative on the main counter who was polite and efficient. If I was grading this on a 0 to 10 rating, it would be somewhere around seven. The main spoiler being the Cleaning and dust. As others have noted the facility is slightly pricey. One other issue to add, I used the WC when we were there & a point of note was that the seat and lid would not stay up. this made it difficult to use. it required the user to stand to the side & hold the lid up with the leg. I was not keen to have a toilet lid resting against my clothes so it was a matter of hygiene that should not exist. I notified the serving agent & he was polite & took the information advising that the manager will deal with it. Be interesting to review this site in a week or so to see if its fixed.
no wonder your reviews are 1 star.!
Having emailed Muffin Break and had no reply in 8 days i,ve decided on the Trust Pilot route, although i don't expect it will change anything.
Had an e mail offering me a free item when you buy a coffee or muffin. ( ie, either way.)
went into my local Norwich Branch and ordered two Latte's , immediately the assistant tapped in two large in the till, i said no, two regular please.
then choosing two muffins she scanned my Muffin Break loyalty card and said. " oh you've got a free drink AND a free birthday item.
So disregarding my free item on my e mail i went for a free muffin for my Birthday treat and a free drink from my loyalty card. NO she replied YOU ARE ONLY ALLOWED ONE OF THEM AT A TIME.!
if you go to Greggs, BB'S, M&S ect etc you get Exactly what you are entitled to at that time, so if it's a free drink AND a free muffin that's what you get.
so why not Muffin Break then.??
Won,t bother going here again if this is the companys attitude.
Didcot branch
Didcot branch. Very polite staff and the best coffee I have tasted in several years. They do need to improve their app as it takes several attempts for purchases to register and most times they don't. You will not get every 6th coffee free as only 1 per day seems to count. I have only tried one cake (several times) and it got staler by the day. Toasted ciabatta is delicious but smaller and more expensive than the Greggs counterpart. They have an extensive menu and I have a mental list to complete before passing judgement. The coffee is what will keep me coming back.
I COME IN THE CHELTENHAM MUFFIN BREAK…
I COME IN THE CHELTENHAM MUFFIN BREAK ALMOST EVERY DAY AND THE STAFF ARE SO FRIENDLY. THEY KNOW WHAT I WANT AND IT'S GREAT COFFEE AND A GREAT SERVICE. THE FEMALE MANGER ALWAYS SPEAKS TO ME AND ALWAYS HAS A SMILE ON HER FACE. IT'S A PLEASURE TO COME IN HERE.
Muffin Break - Newbury
We popped along to Muffin Break on Saturday 30th May; opting for a variety of hot meals and cold drinks to consume on the premises followed by cakes to take away.
The customer service, especially from the gentleman who served us; Khubaib, was impeccable. His manners and warmth was second to none. When my child couldn't finish their meal, they were kind enough to help us wrap it up to take home with us.
I felt that the food was (very) slightly on the pricey side, but having never been before, we were unsure what to expect.
However, that being said, the quality of the food was outstanding and fresh and worth every penny.
The store was clean and the staff were welcoming. It was our first visit today and it definitely won't be our last!
Thank you!
awfull experience
i went there the other day to get a coffee and ordered with no problems however the young female staff were getting verbally abused by the male managers in-front of customers witch is highly inappropriate. i asked to 2 shots of coffee and only got 1 after i paid and left. i DONT recommend this place and they need to take accountability for there horrible actions!! don’t support this business there is so many other better places for a lot cheaper too!!
Really disappointed with my favourite…
Really disappointed with my favourite duffin, the Nutella muffin. It had some sort of cinnamon-style dusting on top which completely ruined the flavour for me. I absolutely hate cinnamon, so it was really off-putting and not what I expected at all. Usually love these, but this one was a let down.
Was recently employed at Muffin Break…
I too was recently employed at Muffin Break in Worthing, the staff have no idea how to run a business, constantly rude and degrading, making you feel stupid even tho you’re still in training. They shout at you and show you how to do things a million different ways and get annoyed when you do it wrong. Contract was all over the place breaking many UK Laws. Do NOT recommend this place.
Was recently employed for muffin break…
Was recently employed for muffin break in worthing and let go within a week of my training for forgetting to charge a customer for a £3 drink. no warning, no help or encouragement even after i offered to pay for it out of my pocket, immediately let go. Abusive management taking advantage of all staff especially the girls- it’s a horrible environment to be amongst especially knowing this is many of their first jobs. Lies upon lies on the contract and favouritism has been apparent since day 1. Please DO NOT visit this store and profit this god awful business
I went in to muffin break the other day…
I went in to muffin break the other day saw the management giving abuse to one of the young female employees I will not be recommending this place
Everything Looks wrong - Muffin Break Worthing
Just wanted to start by saying. This place is a complete cover up. Everything on social media and in the news, decorating the newly opened Café as Fresh and pretty and all together a lovely place to go. When i went in on Friday Afternoon. It seems to be all grown men Shouting and emotionally abusing Younger women who look no older than 18. Not only is this completely morally wrong. But it is disgraceful to the general public. Whoever these managers and supervisors are just seem to be really horrible and intimidating. I wouldn’t be surprised if they are paying all the younger staff the most minimum wage possible also! Really wouldn’t recommend visiting this café or keeping them in business!
Went to muffin break in Worthing
Went to muffin break in Worthing. The manager there was absolutely awful constantly giving abuse and shouting at the women members of staff there, where as the women members of staff were great it’s really sad to see such horrible management take down a good experience at this place, will not be coming back until this is resolved.
ABSOLUTELY AWFUL!!!
ABSOLUTELY AWFUL!!!! Evil manager was horrible to staff and shouted at a girl working in Worthing. Appalling behaviour from manager!!! Will never be going back if that’s how they treat staff. They better sort their behaviour out if they want to keep this god awful abusive business running! Staff are working minimum wage and the girls are getting screamed at by power hungry man. They do not deserve it! The girl was lovely however cake was stale. My advice to staff would be to leave.
Went to muffin break
Went to muffin break in Worthing. Saw Indian manager abusing female staff behind the counter, yelling at her. Won't go back again if that's how they treat there staff.
The food is always delicious 😋 Hull
The food is always delicious 😋 High standard, great quality
So much choice, the muffins, brownies, cakes, I even tried something a bit different was gorgeous. You will not be disappointed, the staff are lovely and go out of the way to look after us.

Awful!
Awful! Often walked past this cafe and should have done so today too! Friendly chap served us but the place stunk of stieff, so our jackets stunk of that greasy cafe smell when we left. There were eight tables around us with dirty dishes on them for the duration of our visit and there were fruit flies which stopped us eating our sandwich and had the distinct feeling things were not clean. Cappuccino was terrible and we didn’t eat our bland sandwich either. Will defo not be back!

I craved for Red velvet cake and was excited to see it in Muffin Break Staines.Disappointed it’s dry and overpriced.
On the positive side
On the positive side, the coffee is great. BUT, on the negative side I have lost several free rewards because "their scanner" didn't accept a Christmas special, or because I had problems downloading their app (although another customer was allowed to use a saving card). It may not sound like much, but pensioners do appreciate a 'freebie'. Muffin Break, do you want to lose older pensioners especially in Eastbourne?
