We have indeed replied to your emails promptly. We received an email from you on 15 May 2023 enquiring about the status of your application which was replied to on 15 May 2023 itself. We then received another follow up asking the same thing on 21 May 2023 which was again replied to the same day. I wish you had taken our a few seconds to check all your folders before leaving this incorrect and hasty review; and you would have seen that your emails were responded to.

For all tutors reading this, we would like to state that it is not possible for us to reply to every applicant. We receive over 500 tutor registrations a week. It is practically not feasible to get back to all of them. We have stated on our website as well that if a tutor's application is approved, they will receive an email from us informing them of the subsequent onboarding procedure. Repeated follow ups will not expedite applications.

I tried to register as a tutor for Native monks, but I couldn't get verified because they were unable to send an OTP to my phone number. I emailed support but got no answer for a while now. Please work on your support, it's terrible.

I vastly improved my vocabulary

Like many students from my country, I need to use the English language when corresponding with my professors. I had some difficulties in the beginning, so that's why I decided to look for a tutor's help. A friend of mine recommended this platform to me. My teacher did a pretty fine job with me. The lessons were holistic and I could see a marked improvement in my vocabulary. I might add that I was so satisfied with the results that I enlisted in another course - this time, I chose the German language.

Native Monks were helpful in the…

Native Monks were helpful in the process of learning a new language. Having a chance to speak with native speakers gave me some extra confidence and made my learning process fun. I need a different approach to learning which is not so boring and which will focus on the words that I use. I recommend Native Monks to everyone who likes real-life conversation.

italky a much better experience, better site & cheaper…

Wouldn't recommend this site as there are too many things wrong with it! Had to find an alternative, language trainers is one choice, they offer more but in the end I went with italky & am very happy with their service, it's a better site & much cheaper.

Really disappointing experience

Really disappointing experience. I usually go out of my way to give 5 stars but this was so bad I couldn't. The platform they use for language lessons is their own and it really isn't fit for purpose.
I spent the first 20 minutes of my lesson trying to make it work (I use Zoom, Teams, Learn Dash, Kajabi etc with no issues so it wasn't user error). I contacted support and no response. Worse still, every single lesson is RECORDED with no opt out facility. There are clear privacy issues here. There is no mention of this on the site.
When support eventually did respond I asked if I could opt out of being recorded (this can be done on EVERY other language platform). Not on Native Monk.
They just weren't interested in user experience. I gave my feedback as their platform is a beta version but they just weren't concerned about all of the things that didn't work (no share facility, no drag and drop, no whiteboard) all necessary for a teaching platform. Customer service feels like the platform, amateurish, rigid, rushed and dreadfully second rate.
One teacher was great, the other just didn't turn up. I had to go through PayPal to get my money back. Native monk blamed the teacher, the teacher blamed the platform. No apology. There is a real theme here in terms of lack of quality, care and attention to detail. It makes no sense to use their own inadequate platform when everything else available is vastly superior on every metric. It feels like this has been cobbled together and is working out of someone's home which is fine if works, but it doesn't.
I should have done my due diligence there are cases online of teachers not being paid accompanied by a curt, passive aggressive response from Native Monk - I fully expect the same to this review. They clearly don't want to reflect and address the poor quality of their platform and customer service. There is no accountability for this shoddy, cobbled together platform. There are many, many language learning platforms, life is too short to choose a bad one that doesn't work. I won't be using Native Monk again.

We would also like to bring to your attention that we have received emails from you appreciating our prompt replies.

We make full disclosure that the lessons are recorded. If we wanted to conceal the fact that the lessons are recorded, there was no way for a customer to realize this on their own.

We go out of our way to monitor our tutors to make sure their conduct is professional and customers have a good experience with them. A lot of companies may not care how about well the lessons go, but we make sure the quality of lessons never dips.

As per our Privacy Policy, the recordings are protected and safe. All this was explained to you over the email and you were also respectfully given an option to choose another platform if you were not okay with this. I think this may not have gone down well with you prompting you to leave this review.

You need not have contacted Paypal. Had you emailed us asking for a refund, we would have been happy to do so. In case you have any further complaints, feel free to write to us at support@nativemonks.com.

Very useful

My experience with Native Monks started a year ago. Last semester I got the opportunity to study abroad in Barcelona. It was an exciting prospect, but I did not want to go without knowing at least some Spanish. I had intensive lessons 4 times a week and was quite pleased by their approach. I am still far from being an experienced Spanish speaker, but the knowledge I gained with Native Monks has been an immense help during my semester abroad.

I worked for 1 year and had a credit 90 USD on the platform, They refused to pay. Absolutely Fake.
Fake, Fake.

I shared with them all ways that they could paid, I suggested to pay my Payoneer bank account, I filled all PayPal required information all they refused. They suggested to pay on Fiverr and gave them my fiverr account and they lately refused to pay. I requested to pay via Money transfer. They refused also.they were not ready to give me my rights. I saw many teachers complaining like me. Anyway, they will burn my rights in a day. But I warn other teachers not to be fooled.

I asked my self: All other institutions send Money via my PayPal account without complaining, what is wrong with Native? They are not ready to send me, but want to use my rights. Okay.

Hello, we have always paid all our tutors in time, with one odd exceptions where the tutors were found to be in breach of our policies.

After having checked your account, we have found that there is indeed a payment of $90 due to you. Your mode of payment being PayPal, when our payments team tried effectuating the transfer to your account, the payment did not go through.

Upon further investigation and getting in touch with PayPal, we found that owing to a glitch your account isn't eligible to receive payments. A screenshot of this failed payment was also shared with you.

Our payments team requested you to change a small setting in your PayPal account and send us a screenshot for confirmation.

Please write to us at support@nativemonks.com after having changed this setting as explained to you many times.

Absolute fraud

My fiancee worked for 22 hours and had a credit of more than 200 Euro on the platform, which was refused to pay. Absolutely inacceptable.

A great site to find Teachers of MANY languages

I can only write a review for my own intents, purposes and experiences, which is a passion for African languages. I found, through Nativemonks, a very competent Xhosa teacher, for which I will be forever grateful. The site however is ok, and also under construction/modification (I have been told) for the better I am sure, but for now it does do what it needs and is intended, which is to serve as a platform for tutors and students, teaching and learning their respective languages. I would recommend this platform, but beware of timeframes when purchasing a package of lessons. The staff are more than helpful and will accommodate their customers if there occurs any hiccups or issues along the way.
