METRO Not fit for purpose

So over the last 4 weeks. At Felling packed metro doors would not open doors flashed red around them pulled away at Heworth same again passengers stuck on again get almost to Felling signal failures, long wait, oh on the move then just before Brockley another signal failure oh forgot week before from Brockley just before Pelaw points failure told repair crew would be 30 minutes 😳 Then this morning packed train nothing within reach to hold onto very scary also no seats but I am 75 have disabilities got in front of grey priority seats and taken one by a young girl BUT sat next to her two men with Nexus I'd cards around their necks looking at the floor. Disgusting 🫣
Why no announcements telling the likes of them to give up the priority seats to those that need them and come on why are the grab handles so far apart when busy we the elderly and others are at risk of falling going to report this health and safty issue to the proper authorities

I stopped using all public transport…

I stopped using all public transport the vast majority of the time a few years ago, I used to spend a significant sum of money on transport I now spend less than £100 in a year. Ever since then I have only used busses when I have had no other choice.

I have found that I am significantly less stressed, I don't need any extra time to do cardio because I do this when traveling. I also have much more money. I can take my son out everyday now, I don't need to worry about money. I honestly did not realise how much I was spending on transport. I would honestly quit any job if it required me to use public transport now, now I know how easy life is without public transport and how much of my working hours can go just towards getting to work I am confident I will always find an alternative to using public transport.

People may be thinking this sounds difficult but consider this, if I get the bus to see my child it takes over an hour. It costs £5 both ways. I can easily cycle the same distance in 40 minutes. So this along can save me more than £40 a week easily.

I have realised that using these services are actually a significant cause of stress and financial hardship on our lives. Much more than we realise. I believe this has had a powerful effect on my mental health.

I went from going out costing way too much, to being able to take people out for free regularly. Before it was like everything was a chore, I didnt want to go out because it is so hard to justify spending so much money just to get to the shops.

Now I realise how much I have been ripped off I no longer want to give my money to shops, or anyone els, because I see them for what they are now. These people are parasites and they weave their way into scenarios where people have no choice but to give over their money. They want you to be helpless and have no other choice but to hand over your money. Don't let them do it. Spend your money on your family or something you like.

The Metro: a frightening experience

Seventy two years of age, poor health, misplaced my specs, visiting Newcastle from Wales, never used the Metro before bought the wrong ticket in the rush hour and Nexus fined me £104 for a 90p difference in the fare. Threatened to take me to court despite using their appeal procedure which they ignored. A disgraceful, thieving, company that the Mayor and Newcastle upon Tyne should be ashamed of.

Absolutely disgraceful company

Absolutely disgraceful company, robbing old age pensioners and disabled people with mobility problems. With ludicrous parking charges. The appeal process is a joke. This company should have their licence removed. Just avoid any car park they manage. No receipt after online payment. Scum of the earth.

NexusPark Parking

NexusParkParking is easy. That’s where it ends. Paying for parking is another story.
Dishing out parking fines for payment machines that DON’T work and laying the blame on the person for their Unless system ( Car parking company GroupNexus haven’t even got phone line to make contact (Prefering BULLYING tactics to hide behind rather than their failures).
Tried four times to use payment machines (didn’t know my car reg: when I put it in didn’t know my arrival time wouldn’t take my card and to top it all was asking for my pin number and didn’t even recognise my pin)
Appealed refused by GroupNexus because there are other was to pay "they claim". I’m 70 years old not tech savvy.
What am I suppose at 70 walk all around Northampton General Hospital to find ways to make payment on a system that doesn’t work.
I thought GroupNexus would help Hospital patients rather that discriminate against the vulnerable.
I’m a proud man and always paid my way since 15 years of age. I’ll face health deteriorating rather than another parking fine.
GroupNexus can be proud of their BULLYING and my health deteriorating, such a wonderfully company

Disgusting

Saturday morning took the metro into Newcastle, normally drive but parking difficult where we were going. Shocking journey. Many standing, using vapes (horrible when you have bad sinuses), drinking alcohol and being loud and nobody to stop them. One guy was off his head, playing rap on his mobile, knocked his drink all over the floor which gradually went right along the carriage, and he got it all over his hands which he then wiped all over the seat next to him (small seats and nobody wanted to sit next to him). Oh and then he also started retching. Nobody enforcing the rules of no alcohol etc. Truly disgusting.

I have parked on Russell’s hospital car…

I have parked on Russell’s hospital car park for my partner scan in relation to her being pregnant.

I have then received a fine via the post even though I have made a clear attempt to pay through the app with a payment reference.

I have disputed this and been told it has been rejected based on I had still parked there. I told them there is a clear issue with the app as there is a payment reference and has been a clear attempt to pay.

Because they are day light thieves I have still been demanded to pay the fine even though I tried to pay on sight and there was no actual transaction.

I never really write reviews actually this is my first one and can honestly say don’t park where they operate and find somewhere free to park and just walk to your destination. It will save you £40.

ID required for under 16's

No where does it mention that under 16's need ID to travel and have to go through a member of staff to enter the metro system. My 15 year old was caught out and embarrassed and upset by a member of staff who didn't believe she was under 16. Nexus response was basically should have read website terms and conditions and lucky she wasn't fined

Check their confusing documents!

No one is going to give 5 stars, but its access I have an issue with and a possible breach of equality standards. Tiny print, poorly laid out documents with inaccesseible layout and, so far as I can tell, no means to request easier to read documents. As a public service provider under the 2010 Equality Act,
reasonable sdjustments should be made and I cant see that they are.

Also, if you appeal it seems you lose the early payment discount. I appealed, got turned down on 9th December but they held the £60 charge for a further 14 days from then, however, 3 days later, I received a notice requiring me to pay £101.50. I will have to call them.

No resilience, so fragile it's unusable

The Metro network has no resilience at all. It is so fragile that it is simply too unreliable to use. From infrastructure, trains to staffing the delay excuses are the only reliable constant of this failing and expensive to use transport system.

If you have to be somewhere on time - do yourself a huge favour and use another way to get to where you need to be.

It's is quickly becoming a let down to the North East. It's probably about time for our local politicians to consider if Nexus is capable of running this service.

What a grubby little company

What a grubby little company. Don't attempt to pay your parking charge by phone. Their system doesn't answer and the time ticks away making them a profit. You then get a surprise when your mobile bill arrives. Then you complain about them breaching an implicit contract by offering this so called"service" and not delivering. Following this your complaint and request for a refund will simply be ignored. Utter scumbags of the first order.

Absolute robbing b******s

Absolute robbing b******s. I work at the hospital and pay as staff to park then get charged for dropping my mum off at an appointment. Impossible to read small signs. The other company that ran the hospital parking let staff park where they wanted.
