Great but don’t advertise discounts if they don’t work

The last star is for the false advertising on discounts. I’m told to provide email and get a discount but when I input the discount code on checkout it’s not valid. Apart from that, everything ordered is always top notch

Good selection of products

Good selection of products. However l ordered 2 bottles of rum and they were sent in a plastic bag with a layer of bubble wrap round them. Amazingly one survived the Royal Mail the other did not. So for a small (200ml) bottle of rum it cost me over £32 with carriage and VAT(this is added to the carriage aswell). If they had been boxed they might have both survived.
Since writing the above l have been contacted by the store and informed l will get a refund for the damaged item. Very friendly staff. Great customer service.

THEY TRIED THEIR VERY BEST TO MAKE IT RIGHT

I was called by the CEO, and I understand the process of investigation, and he mutually understood my concerns and the offer I was making to him. I am happy that a resolution was found.

I will be sending you the items through the post, hopefully, on inspection, it will make more sense to you.

However, I really do appreciate the time and effort the Founder of this company went through in bringing this to a close and finding an amicable solution for both parties.

I really do appreciate it. My last review has changed since, as there is a positive update to write about.

Yes, I will be shopping again, as their Yams and Plaintains are super fresh. I have given him a 5* from a 1*, because, BC really did try to make it right. Although he didn't believe me to begin with, isn't the issue, as sometimes pictures aren't always clear. But hopefully, when he sees the products he will understand.

Niyis has protocols to protect themselves and customers, this is important in all business. I respect that. Great lessons learned all around.

We will try to reply to your review in different parts.

PART 1: Regarding the duration we've been in business.

Your affirmation is wrong, we are not sure where you got this information from, however, our business has been in the market for 3 years not 10 years.


PART 2: Regarding the expiry date on the products.

What you said doesn’t have any backing and is borderline defamatory. We would never do such a thing and our customers know this fully well, as we put trust and integrity at the centre of our business.

These products you are talking about come already packaged from our supplier and all the information on the package comes from them. There is simply no way for us to change an expiry date on a product.


PART 3: As we already explained to you on the phone and via email, from the pictures sent by you, we can’t see anything wrong with the items. Also, please allow us to assure you that we would never intentionally send out to a customer a product that is not fit for consumption. Apart from the moral side of this, there would be no gain for us, as we try to build a relationship based on trust with our customers to ensure they will return to use our services. Nonetheless, we offered to raise an investigation for these products as this is normal procedure. As explained to you these items would have been sent back to the supplier and they would have raised an investigation and make their conclusions. This has nothing to do with us. The investigation on the products wouldn't have been done by us, it would've been done by the supplier, so it's not on us to decide if the items are good for consumption or not, it's for the supplier to decide as they are the ones who put the product on the market for sale and we are just selling it on our website.

Even more, we also offered to copy you in all communications with our supplier for transparency.


PART 4: We mentioned we are unable to take back open products, only because you suggested you will send it back and we should refund you. However, this is not the procedure in this case. While opened products can’t be returned if a customer changes their mind, in your case you were complaining about something, which needed to be investigated, and so we will need those products in order to do so.


PART 5: We do indeed request customers to pay the return fee initially. This is only because in a situation where the items are deemed as fit for consumption by the supplier, we won’t be able to refund you, and so us paying for the return fee will only complicate matters. However, we explained to you, that this shipping fee and the cost of the products would be refunded to you fully if the investigation concluded that the items were not good for consumption.


As already mentioned to you, we did not receive any communication from the bank regarding the money for your order.
However, should we receive any message from the bank, we'll be absolutely happy to provide them with all the details needed for them to investigate and reach a conclusion on this situation.

It is sad indeed that our African mentality ‘someone is always ready to take advantage of me’ is not allowing you to see the truth in this situation and make you go against us, when we truly haven’t done anything wrong. Proof of this is the fact that most of your review is based on false information, which we are sure is not intentionally done, but unfortunately there are those (you in this case) who would allow themselves to post untruthful information about someone else (us in this case) based on what they think and not on a real understanding of the situation. Just because you do not understand the procedure in this case or you choose not to believe us when we say that an investigation will be raised with the supplier, doesn’t mean that we’ve done something wrong. Nonetheless, if you decide to take us up on our offer of raising an investigation, we are still happy to do so.
