Existing customer experience
I have been a customer for a number of years now and always find their customer support teams quick to respond and very helpful. They have recently introduced some new charges which is less positive but all in all it's a better service than my old line and they assisted me in reducing the cost slightly.

Terrible Porting Experience – Business Disrupted
Our experience with Number People has been extremely disappointing especially when trying to port our number to a new provider. While the service mostly functioned during our time with them, the process of leaving and retaining our business number has been nothing short of a nightmare.
Our company, a care provider that relies heavily on consistent communication with clients, has been trying to port our number for nearly a month without success. As soon as we requested the porting, our account was abruptly closed, leaving us unable to access our portal or any account information.
Even more frustrating is the lack of customer support. We submitted a support request on Friday night, and as of now, we have had no response. This delay is not just inconvenient it’s damaging. Our business has suffered significantly because customers cannot reach us. In the care sector, every missed call could mean a missed emergency or a family left in distress.
This experience has made what should be a straightforward process feel like an uphill battle. I would strongly advise other businesses to think carefully before using this provider, especially if having reliable support and continuity of service is critical to your operations.

We completely understand how vital it is for care providers to maintain reliable communication with their clients, and we're sorry for any disruption this may have caused.
To clarify the situation, your number was removed from the account due to prolonged non-usage and the absence of an active balance.
As a prepay service, our system keeps numbers active only while the account remains in credit. Unfortunately, in this case, the account was not topped up, despite several automated reminders, which led to the service expiring and the number being automatically removed, as per our terms.
That said, as soon as we became aware of your request to port the number, our team acted to facilitate the reactivation process to allow the porting to complete successfully.

Stopped working after buying bundle
Had a trial account and service was working with the Cisco spa122. As soon as I signed up it stopped working. Kept trying to get it to work with advice from support but no investigation of problems at their end. Gave up trying.

Fine for a small startup business
Fine for a small startup business. It has good functionality with extra apps and good customer service overall, but the bundles are misleading. Unlimited calls isn't actually unlimited and minutes are rounded up so you don't get what is advertised. then when you go over their 'fair use' and you start getting deducted at the most expensive rate. Also managing the running costs is very hard to track when you get several users at different start dates.

Only found out today, unknowingly regular payments taken from my bank account.
Money taken from my account without even realising it.
After checking my bank account today, I was shocked to discover that £5 payments have been going out every month for the past five months.
I don’t regularly monitor my account, so I only just noticed the charges – they were from a company called NumberPeople. I used their service a long time ago and made sure to disable auto top-up, as I had no plans to use it again.
What’s frustrating is that these payments relate to various optional features I never knowingly signed up for or authorised. I never opted into any of them – and yet, the charges kept coming.
Realistically, I know I’m unlikely to get a refund. If a company can take money without clear consent, chances are they won't be quick to return it.
This experience has completely put me off ever signing up to a service again unless it’s from a well-known, trusted company. And that’s a real shame – because it's the smaller companies that lose out when trust is broken like this.

To clarify, we’re only able to take payments where services remain active on an account, and when auto top-up has been enabled by the user. In this case, it sounds like auto top-up remained active and services were never cancelled, which is why the charges continued.

Credit balance gets confiscated after 90 days
Trying to port my landline but it got rejected. I've opened a ticket but I'm not sure I even want to continue after reading what I just have. I was looking to see how I get a refund on the £5 credit balance, but it seems you can't but not only that any balance on your account gets confiscated after 90 days (unless you top it up)!
I thought I'd make others aware of this. I don't know any other company that doesn't allow credit balances to be returned or that confiscates them.
Update 13/06/2025:
They now want another £20 to "try" to port it gain but recommend spending £40 first to confirm my phone provider!
What a racket this is! If other providers can port numbers for free, then these should be able to port a number for £20.
I've asked them to either port the number or refund my payment. I'm waiting for their reply.
Update 17/06/2025:
I think they have agreed to port my number, or try to port it again, for the £20 already paid although I'm not sure.

We understand that the porting process can be confusing, however we always aim to be as transparent as possible. During the process we make it clear to our customer that the onus is on them to make sure that they are providing us with the correct provider details, however we do advise that you contact your current provider in order to avoid any uncertainty. If the details provided are not correct then the customer will be recharged for the submission of an additional porting request. Unfortunately, we are charged by our carrier for each request, so we’re unable to refund the fee once submitted.
Regarding credit expiry; yes, all account credit expires after 90 days. This is outlined in our terms and helps us manage inactive services. That said, customers who are actively using their number and services typically use their credit well within that time, so it’s rarely an issue for regular users.
We understand your disappointment and are continuing to support you via your open ticket to help find the best resolution moving forward.

Trial period - refuse to refund
I signed up for their trial, but outgoing calls didn’t work while using a VPN (My current other virtual phone service with webex works) — something they never mention.
I ended up buying a call-out package (In trial period!) just to test it, only to find the issue was with their system that fails to make calls but incoming works only.
They refuse to refund the purchase, even though it was caused by their own limitations.
Poor transparency and bad customer support.

it looks like there is no tech team…
it looks like there is no tech team behind the portal, every thing i being managed through automated system that is pre-configured. i was trying to build ivr menu , i uploaded the wave file and it says it is under review, long time waiting nothing happened and the file disappeared automatically, tried to submit a support ticket , it says access denied. received 3 emails from them but every email is from noreply....., tried live chat but there is chat bot give knolwdge base documentation to read. so far i am trying to test their services , and learning how to manage the dash board features, lets see how it goes. at this point i would say you should look for other options as well if you budget allows. i will write a final review again after testing their all services and features, thank you

I just tried to register for their…
I just tried to register for their service. My home address (1980's build) is not in their address database, fault ticket raised. Then their system complained about my surname being invalid, which happens around once a year on some system or other. Nothing fancy, just a somewhat rare English surname that google tells me has some 45,000 UK census records.
I think I may have to find another supplier with systems that actually have error free data sets and that recognise English names as being valid.
