Avoid Oak and Hearth at all costs

Do not go anywhere near this company. You will think you are buying a product. You are not told about any membership and basically this company places credit card charges monthly without your authorisation. The only solution is to avoid giving any credit card details to these robbers. They will tell you that you signed up which you won’t have.

If you have been caught out, ring your credit card company and place a block on the company making any further charges. Then follow the section 75 claim back routines. You will heed to ask Oak and Hearth for a refund and they will reply with more farce suggesting that you ordered a membership which of course you didn’t. Keep your emails as you will need them to let the credit card company do the claim back.

This portion of the review is prepared after the company’s review below. As expected, the company attempts to suggest that when you buy something, you are given the choice about membership. As it happens, you aren’t aware that the company has the intention of placing you into their membership plan and the first you will know about it us when they start taking the money from your credit card. There is no transparency in the so called membership. You aren’t given any choice whatsoever and in my humble opinion, the process of membership is a company policy of theft. In the UK, you cannot use unsolicited means to contract people into commitment. Customers always have choice and companies cannot use one sided processes to take money off their customers. If you are caught out by this company, make sure you ask for your money back and if the company refuses, ask your credit card to get your money back.

Do NOT order from this company! Quality is so POOR and they started charging my credit card $18.33 a month for a membership that I did not sign up for!
Never will order again and now I am trying to get the money back from my credit card company.
Buyer beware It's a SCAM!

I contacted the company and they claim that an email was sent to me welcoming me to the membership. I didn't receive the email, possibly it went to junk mail. They also say that at checkout it states that you are told you are signing up for a membership. I DID NOT SEE THIS AT CHECK OUT! It must be in the fine print somewhere. I would never agree to a membership of $18.33 a month.
I purchased an item valued at $36.00 and had no plans of ordering anything else from this company. Why would I want to pay for a membership that costs $18.33 a month.
I am asking that I get refunded for the 4 months of charges, $18.33 x 4 = $73.32.
So far the company has only agreed to refund me for 1 month for a total of $18.33.
This is unacceptable.

I have been mislead in their "membership"
A membership should be something you sign up for, not something hidden in fine print and automatically applied.

I did not have any intentions of signing up for this.
Also wouldn't you know it, I have been charged for something I did not want.

Different amounts every month so you can't block the amount.

It would appear I am not the first to experience this.

Now I will wait for a reply to my email and see if I get any refund.

Do not order from them they charge me every month ( Never the exact charge by the way !!!! about 50$/mth in my case after I buy from them in December. They do not refund they just sat they will stop charging the membership charges. This is FRAUD !!! Do not buy at that place.

What a joke of a company. Buy something and 6 days later get another credit card charge for half the item by sneaking in a membership in the fine print. What a bunch of scam artists. Beware everyone!!! Don't worry though, they tell you that you had every chance to not sign up for it.

unapproved memebership fees charged

As for others, I have had monthly charges against my card that I did not authorise. I note that all of their responses are the same pointing to terms and conditions.
There is no way that i would have missed that i was signing up for a regular membership fee at checkout. I have now found the email about membership which is the last one of 5(!) that i received from them on the day i placed my order and any mention of fees is way down the bottom of the email.
This is clearly fraudulent activity. Avoid this company at all costs.
I'm predicting that i will get the same response as everyone else from the company which is insufficient at best. If multiple people are telling you they are unaware of the membership fee you are clearly not providing the right information when we purchase.

Update: company has refunded the purchase price without having to return the item.

I would give ZERO Stars if I could, purchased a bag which fell apart after 1 use and have been charged a monthly fee of $18.33 USD every month for nothing ever since, I will be taking this through the legal system if they don't refund, it is a total scam, the bag was probably worth $2 all up! The response from Oak & Hearth is that customers sign up! They default to a sign up versus prompting you to select to sign up, very unethical IMO

Horrible Customer Service and product sizing

Edit: I followed up as requested based on my review and they were kind enough to refund the purchase price and provided an additional credit for a future order. I appreciate that this was resolved. I just wish it could have been an easier process to do so.

Ordered 2 winter dog coat/harness for Christmas. The items took weeks to arrive. Once they arrived one coat was too small and the other barely fit. I followed their size chart before ordering. I tried to exchange one of the coats for a larger one. It took them 30 days to acknowledge the request which they denied because it was beyond the date of receipt. I submitted the return authorization the day I received the item. Prices may be good and they have some cute things but they have a long way to go to be a contender. I will not buy from them again.

The fee for membership which I never signed up for came weeks after I ordered the dog coat that is so far off size wise it’s a joke. They billed it weeks later and when I saw it on my credit card I was shocked! Called and was told “too bad”, it was somewhere when I clicked the button for expedited shipping.
Then after a week of trying to get thru to do a return, when I finally did it said my order was outside of the return period! What is it…a week???
Total scamsters!!!

yes agree, i bought a bag before christmas and stupidly have only just seen the 'membership' monthly fee on my statement with the hassle etc of christmas. ridiculous! im trying to get it stopped, i didnt receive an 'welcome' to the club email, and im sure i didnt 'tick' a box to say i would pay £15 pm for NOTHING. I actuaully wont be buying from outside UK again.

Would give Zero stars if I could...

Bought a couple of things from them, and then I discover they are charging me $18/month for "membership". They claim I approved this but show no documentation. Put these charges in dispute with the credit card company, which insisted on sending me a new card based on this transaction. That should tell you something. Filed complaint with BBB but they aren't a member and don't really care.
