Urban Plant Life is the only established garden centre within Dublin city centre. Irish-owned and managed, Plant Life has been in business since the early 1980s providing plant maintenance and light landscaping work to Co Dublin. An urban oasis in the historic Liberties, we have products and plants to suit all of your gardening needs. We stock a large selection of indoor and outdoor plants. We also supply compost, planters and garden equipment such as tools, fencing and hanging baskets. We are located at 110-111 Cork Street, Dublin 8, D08 E1VN. Best plants and staff you can find
Wonderful selection of plants that are clearly cared for before I got them. The staff are beyond helpful and I didn’t encounter any problems with my order. In fact they went out of their way to accommodate me and with changing a plant, sent me photos of new stock that may interest me after I asked if they had a similar orchid in stock. Best range of plants and flowers, best range of orchids I could ever find, the supplies and all you need are there to choose from and I can’t wait to go back. Even asked for a voucher for Christmas. Good location and they have a cat who chills out there too!

Hi Adrian, Thank you for your review. We reached out several times regarding your order. Phone calls were made and emails were sent on 10/11 and 03/12 to let you know your order was ready for collection from the garden centre. At checkout, the local pickup option was selected, not delivery. We allow up to two weeks for collection and if we don’t hear from a customer within that time, or receive a request for an extension, the order is automatically cancelled. In these cases, a refund unfortunately isn’t available. Happy but could be better.
I am in general - happy. Unfortunately the one plant that naturally only has four leaves lost one in the transportation and the other is dying, but should survive, fingers crossed. The packaging could have been better. The other plant I got looks happy, healthy and beautiful. It took close to 3 weeks to be delivered even tho I stay in Dublin.

Hi, Thank you for your review. We’re sorry for the delay with your order we had to source plants from our supplier in Holland. Regarding the condition of the plants on arrival, they were delivered via An Post and unfortunately, delicate plants can sometimes be damaged despite our best efforts to package them carefully. We’re glad to hear that your other plant arrived healthy and beautiful and we hope the one that was damaged recovers with a little tlc.

Delays, mistakes and frustration
The order took three weeks to be delivered. I received a call telling me that some items were unavailable and suggesting changes in pot colours. They didn't mention there would be also changes in size. I received less articles than I ordered. I finally got a refund more than a week after the delivery, but the whole process was extremely frustrating. Never again.

Hi Julia, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are really sorry to hear about your experience and the frustration caused by the delays, unavailable items and changes to your order.
As I explained previously, our website is not updated in real time, so items may sometimes appear in stock online even if they are not currently available in the garden centre or from our suppliers.
We completely understand how disappointing it must have been to receive fewer items than expected and to wait longer than anticipated for a refund. Our garden centre manager was away at the time and I needed to check with her before issuing the refund. Thank you for your patience and we sincerely apologise for the delay.

Delivery expensive
Ease of ordering, not bad value tiny bit expensive. Plant was growing well, delivery very expensive as ye only deliver in Dublin. Any deliver guy on a bike would have done the run for €10 and be delighted, but I paid €20 which is a bit Irish. Otherwise good company good plant.

Online order
I ordered a lot of plants online. I didn't even receive an acknowledgement. I had to check the money was gone from my account. It was. Eventually, I was able to chase the order up and it was sent out a week later. There was one plant where they sent the wrong plant, two missing. one covered in mealy bugs and one with mealy bug eggs. Communication with the company is awful. They do not seem to care. They have now refunded the missing plants. I'll have to go source them elsewhere but they refuse to refund the one they mixed up. Now, they say both plants are actually the same plant but both names are listed on the site and I already have two of the one they sent. I am not at all happy. Also, if you bought from them recently, check your plants and isolate them for a while before you put them with others. Now they are saying they called me. On the forth week they called me. After I told them email would be easier for me. And the call was to say they will not do anything for me. Just send the plant I ordered or refund me. This is so simple.

Regarding the plant you received: Cissus striata is the currently accepted scientific name, while Parthenocissus striata is an older synonym. They refer to the same species, the difference is purely taxonomic. The label on your plant was provided by the supplier and unfortunately, we don’t have control over which name they choose to use.I understand how this might have been confusing and I’m sorry for any frustration it caused. As for the mealybugs, could you please send us a photo of the plant showing the pests or eggs? We'll be happy to look into it further for you. You can email us at info@plantlife.ie
Edit: You sent us a photo of the plant you received and we’ve reviewed it. We can confirm that it is the correct plant you ordered: Cissus striata. The label says Parthenocissus striata, but it is in fact the same plant.
