WARNING

WARNING: AVOID PROKIL & SERENITY! Over £8,100 Paid for a Disastrous DIY Job.
I hired Prokil (damp-proofing, approx. £6,924) and Serenity Construction (reinstatement, approx. £1,200) for work in my kitchen and small utility room, paying a total of over £8,100. The result was an unbelievable disaster.
The quality of work was so bad like a terrible DIY attempt that I felt completely robbed. I ended up paying the full amount just to get them off my property because I was so stressed and frustrated, but I am furious that I have to hire other professionals to fix their mess.
Key Failures on This Contract (Costing Over £8,100):
• Contractual Breach: Their quote promised the final plaster finish would be a "multi-finish plaster, leaving the area ready for decoration." What I received was patchy, uneven, unblended plaster that looks absolutely unprofessional and is impossible to paint without extensive, expensive remedial work.
• Damp-Proofing Incomplete: Despite two attempts, they failed to meet their core promise: plaster should have been chiselled off from floor to 1.5 metres high on all walls and floor, first attempt they only done half and left the wall with mould on until I told them and came with excuse and apologised. They left major sections untreated and moldy, including behind the kitchen units, which they knew was a problem.
• Damage to Kitchen Units & Plumbing: I paid extra for them to handle the kitchen units, and they completely failed. They lost crucial plumbing parts (washers, nuts, screws) and left the units in such a state that I have to replace fixtures entirely.
• Reinstatement Failure & Safety Risk: The sister company, Serenity, left skirting boards falling off the wall and electrical wiring exposed and unsecured. The floor screed (epoxy resin DPM) was visibly uneven.
• No Clean Up: They failed to clear any of the demolition rubbish and waste after they left.
This entire experience was a complete failure of service. If you are looking for professional work, DO NOT HIRE PROKIL OR SERENITY CONSTRUCTION.
I have photos, videos, and the original quote to prove every single one of these claims.

1st Class Rising Damp Job

Used this company in Exeter for a Rising Damp issue in my sitting & dining room and am very pleased that i did. Thorough Survey, polite and on time. The work undertaken was first class, and they left the house clean and tidy afterwards, which was appreciated. They came in at almost half price of a competitor who have both done properties in the street. Would highly recommend!

Suvey was a complete joke.Said we lived in a downstairs appartment,we live in a 5 bedroom house,said downstairs bedroom at the back of the house had damp,all our bedrooms are upstairs the room was a lounge at the very front of the house.Many other mistakes in survey.Quoted for unnecessary work.refused to feturn money for unfit survey.did not answer phone calls or emails.Refused to follow their own complaints proceedure.Worst company i have dealt with over the last 70 years.AVOID

My first appointment was cancelled with…

My first appointment was cancelled with just a few days notice. At that time I was not offered any new date/time, only that they would be in touch (this is after having paid a deposit). I had to chase multiple times for a new date/time.
Then they turn up over an hour late (after having confirmed the time and not contacted the tenant to advise of a delay) and are trying to charge a fee as the tenant had to leave and so they were unable ti carry out the work.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!

Awful experience

Awful experience. They treated our whole house for damp proof and we had so many issues with it. Later on we had wet patches and when we complained about it they said it was an external problem so I wouldn’t be covered by their warranty. Once we opened ourselves we realised they didn’t do the job properly. They left untreated the wall that had wed patches and when we contacted them they basically said that because we opened the wall ourselves they couldn’t prove it was actually their fault, when they clearly fail to do the job we paid them for (we sent them photos and videos opening the wall). Clare, who was the person who replied, basically said they wouldn’t do anything about it. Honestly avoid this company at all cost.

Prokill Exeter

Prokill Exeter just fixed my rising damp issue. The team of Peters Were amazing from start to finish they did a fantastic job very reasonable quote. I would highly recommend them as they are extremely professional and hard-working I’m very happy with the result and communication thank you 🙏

If I could give no stars I would

If I could give no stars I would. Today I called to ask about a quote on mould and damp in a rental property. The lady I spoke to was extremely rude to me, refused to help me and then said the mould was my fault because I'd created it with not enough heat or ventilation. Just calling for a quote I don't expect to be judged. The damp is a result of leaks from an external source, the roof, not my fault and even if it was I was calling to ask for help to make things better not to be judged and been rude to. Really poor and disgusting customer service. Also just because I do not own my home I was treated with complete disrespect and contempt.I'd like an apology please.

Pro kill advertise free survey

Pro kill advertise free survey , you call them to make an appointment to be told it’s £95 ,I said you advertise a free survey so he said well the website is wrong 🤷‍♀️
Booked it anyway then got sent an invoice to pay upfront . Cancelled immediately. Would never ever do business with company

Absolutely shocking customer service!
Had the roundel of an oast house treated and replastered in spring of 2022, and all seemed ok.
I contacted thier offices on 3rd January 2023, saying that we had issues with damp coming through the walls.
Finally got a response on 20 Feb, that a manager would visit shortly.
Michael visited, and said that he could see the problem, and not to worry, all would be resolved under their guarentee.
We are now in August, and despite countless emails, voice mails etc, have not had a single response!

My 8 year old had pneumonia

My 8 year old had pneumonia, my own health was suffering. I asked them to complete a survey for damp and mould, the guy was here for a short period of time and didn’t even access the loft where I felt the issue was coming from. He gave several recommendations verbally, it took weeks for any formal paperwork so we had work’s completed he suggested since it was time sensitive. Symptoms have returned, I asked the company for a second opinion and explained my concerns that since they didn’t look in the loft the root cause had not been correctly identified. They refused. The customer service I received in my exchanges with them were awful. My advice is to give your money to another company.

Excellent Service

I contacted Prokill as we had a mouse problem at our mothers house. They put me in contact with the Haverhill Branch manager Dave Holt who responded incredibly quickly and dealt with the problem immediately. Dave was also extremely accommodating with appointment times. A great customer experience from start to finish and I would strongly recommend Prokill

Friendly team who get the job done on…

Friendly team who get the job done on time but I was very disappointed with the finish on their plasterwork. It's uneven and looks pretty amateur. Not necessarily want you want if you have a wall that is very visible to guests!

Waste of time

Had someone come out from the Southend branch, very disappointed in service. The chap was at our home for 5 minutes sprayed some stuff and then left. Nothing has changed we have contacted him numerous times and doesn’t seem to be bothered about helping us resolve our issue. We still have bugs and now have to use a different company. Do not use Prokill!

Excellent Service

We called Justin this morning, fortunately for us he was working in the area and was able to visit us within the hour. He is very professional, knowledgeable and courteous. We would not hesitate in recommending Justin to anyone who has a pest problem.

I arranged agreed time date etc with a two window slot. I took time off from my job in a hospital. Prokill not only did not attend but didnt even bother to ring me to let me know .
