SCAM FRAUD SCAM
SCAM FRAUD SCAM. Got a letter in the mail from PTO-US.COM company claiming my Trademark expires in a month and telling me I need to pay them $1800 for renewal. I knew this was a scam but for the heck of it, I loggedin to the real USPTO.GOV website and looked at my account. No renewal needed for another few years. Funny how the USPTO.GOV warns you stating that you will be getting these type of scammers mail and email.
SCAM! How are they allowed to remain in operation?
After extensive rounds of application editing, I was shocked to see this letter arrive in my mailbox. Nothing about it looked official, but I opened it anyway.
Nothing about it looks legit, except for the fact that they have my information. I am well within my term limit and don't have to renew for about seven years. They requested $1170 and I got angrier the more I read this. Please don't fall for this SCAM. Instead, report this company to the authorities.
The USPTO is NOT in Washington State, it is in D.C...please be careful. No one with a registered mark should be falling for this ridiculous scam! It is fraudulent and should be reported as such!
TOTAL SCAM
I can't believe we can't put these people (SCAMMERS) in jail! DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY!
Also, how is their average 1.6 when not even one review is over 1 star?
HELP end these scammers by reporting them at the reportfraud.ftc.gov site
Scam
Scam. The website is not the official US trademark office website. The official website is uspto.gov. - just google Trademark office and the legit website will come up. The website on the letter is pto(hyphen)us(dot)com. I don't even want to put the actual link. That url is a huge red flag - something from the government should have a url that ends in .gov, period. The first thing I did was check the actual, verified trademark website. Always go directly to the known website of an official entity you've supposedly received urgent mail or email like this from (especially instead of clicking a link in an email or text). Go there directly and see what it says. Also be leary of websites that have hyphens or an earlier period, as these link to a different website than one without. Also, it may seem like they have a lot of detailed information about your mark that makes it seem official, like the registration number and date, but I'm pretty sure it's all public information available on the uspto website, so don't be misled by that. I wasn't sure, but I did not believe my trademark was due for renewal, so I double checked that as well. It's 10 years, and I've only had my mark three. Super thankful for my company's regular security training and that we did it recently!
Please be careful
Please be careful. PATENT & TRADEMARK OFFICE is a SCAM!! The real trademark department, is USPTO.GOV and look for the legit mark. ALSO it's a government entity. I almost paid 1k!!! If you are very well aware of you Trademark status, please double check the mails you receive. It did look a little legit. But I knew I won't be due in a few more years. That was close!
This is a total scam company preying on…
This is a total scam company preying on small business. We received a letter requesting $1090 to renew the patent that was going to cancel in a few weeks! This company needs to be shut down and prosecuted for the evil they do!
DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM!!!!!!
This is a scam company
This is a scam company. They should not be allowed to exist. As below, my TM isn't due for 2 more years and they wanted $1090 to renew immediately!
Yes, it's a scam.
Just as the other reviews stated, this is a scam. We recieved the same letter today in the mail. Just toss it in the trash!
Scam
Scam. Says my trademark will expire and I need to pay $`1,000. My trademark isn't set to expire for another 2 years. BEWARE
clear scam.
PTO-US.com = SCAM
SCAM - This company is a scam company who sends out fake letters stating "PENDING TRADEMARK CANCELLATION" and requesting $1090 to keep it active. The earlies my Section 8 declaration can be filed is two years from now. Additionally, you can file through the USTPO directly for $49... not for the $1,090 this scam is wanting! Be careful! Do not fall for their illegitimate money SCAM!
* I sent a copy of their letter to the USTPO.
These garbage people...
These garbage people...
They send real-looking threatening letters that appear to be from the US Patent and Trademark Office but ARE NOT REAL. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM!
This business sends misleading…
This business sends misleading correspondence to folks -- I almost fell for it.
PLEASE AVOID DOING BUSINESS WITH THEM!!!!!!!!
If you have questions about your intellectual property rights PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE hire a real attorney or seek help from an appropriate government entity.
Scam alert - not associated with USTPO!
This company is a scam company who sends out fake letters stating "PENDING TRADEMARK CANCELLATION" and requesting $1090 to keep it active. This is a SCAM! For example, the earliest my Section 8 declaration can be files is in September of 2025, NOT in 2023 like they are claiming. Additionally, you can file through the USTPO directly for $49... not for the $1,090 this scam is wanting! Be careful! Do not fall for their illegitimate money SCAM!
* I am sending a copy of their letter and envelope to the USTPO fraud & legal department as well as filing a complaint with the FTC as I'm sure they take advantage of people all the time with this scam.
Such BS of a scam
Such BS of a scam. Almost got suckered in to "your trademark is about to expire" notification. This is a scam and the money they must be getting if people don't read the fine print is scary. I sent the notification back to them and asked them to stick it up their A#%*s. 8.5.23
SCAM
SCAM! The correct business is USPTO. This PTO-US tries to scam small businesses. Hopefully they wind up in jail.
Scam
Scam - got a letter from them. They pretend that they are the government agency for trademarks and we need to pay them to renew trademark
It's a full-blown scam
It's a full-blown scam. I'm glad I did my research before sending any money. Scammers like this do nothing useful for this world; life will phase out people like this.
This is a private company that does SCAM and send out FAKE officially-looking letters designed to extract $$$ from unsuspecting small business owners and others holding US trademarks!
Just like everyone else here, I received a letter from “Patent & Trademark Office” with case ID looking like this in the upper right hand corner
Case ID : 2023A01PR_20915
Up on top it says highlighted in red “ pending trademark cancellation”
Your trademark about to expire. Renewal date Jan 14 , 2023.
Today is 1/4/23.
The letter is official-looking. It has correct name of my company, correct address, correct trademark logo and writing , correct registration date and number. There is a vertical QR code with letter “ A” on top of it. The letter wants $1090 to renew my expiring trademark for “another 5 years”. There is a website address on the bottom pto-us dot com and phone 800-983-4701
Please beware:
1. It’s a full-blown SCAM
2. Government websites never end with .com but with .gov instead
3. The real USPTO NEVER sends any renewal notices and they never demand money.
4. There are no official “trademark expiration dates”. Sometimes yo I might be asked to file some additional documents or send samples proving you are in business and still using trademark you filed for legally and properly. Most of the time USPTO communicates through your attorney that filed it for you.
4. Moreover, these greedy folks offer you to send them an extra $400 for “declaration of incontestability” meaning you don’t want anyone to contest your trademark, imagine?
- Don’t forget that your trademark has already been finalized and registered. Public had at least 30 days to contest anything they wanted. Once your trademark is registered and published, it might get contested in a smallest percentage of cases.
- again, just like many others here pinpointed - DO NOT FALL FOR THIS. Report it to FTC and discard. It’s fake, scam and designed to fool innocent small unsuspecting business owners!
