Disappointed

After doing a comparison site search I chose Rightsure, not as the cheapest but the best policy that suited my needs.

Following my payment I had communication that the company wanted to do a data check. I was happy with this as I wanted the insurance to be correct and valid.

I rang to complete this check and was firstly fobbed off that I needed to talk to a colleague and they would phone back. I didn’t receive a call back so I had to ring again the next day.

Following the data check I had mistyped the date I bought the car. Unfortunately I am not perfect. So I owned the mistake. However I was then quoted £120 to change the policy for my mistake. So I requested to cancel the policy.

I was told this would cost me a £80 due to charges. I sought citizens advice bureau advice and this is illegal to charge fees within the first 14 days and no terms can over rule this cool off period. Plus if I cancelled the policy with the fees and reset the policy this would cost me £100 so this would have saved me £20.

After fighting this for a whole day they did give me a full refund.

Just be aware to get all your details correct before going ahead with the insurance.

It is interesting in your reply that you don’t believe the 14 day cool off period is a statutory right. And this is why I lost confidence in your company. Please see advice from citizens advice bureau about 14 day cool off period. The only way terms and conditions effect it is if you give a longer amount of time!

Firstly, please accept our sincere apologies for not receiving a callback. It appears your allocated handler was on another call at the time and, unfortunately, a follow-up call back was not made. This falls below the standard of service we expect, and we will raise this internally.

As noted in your review, there was an error in the purchase date that needed correcting. The change caused an increase in your premium, and as a result, you decided to cancel.

The correct information must be provided to any insurance company. Had your policy been allowed to continue unaltered, you could have faced serious problems in the event of needing to make a claim. It is better for you if we check your information at the start of your policy so that if you need to make a claim, it can be handled swiftly and without delay.

Your policy was cancelled in line with our Terms and Conditions, which you agreed to at point of purchase and confirmed this by ticking a box. These charges are in place to cover some of the costs we incur in setting up policies that are cancelled through no fault of our own. We keep this as low as possible and only apply it to cover genuine costs.

It's also worth noting that all insurance policies include a 14-day cooling-off period however, this does not mean cancellation is free of charge. If a policy is cancelled during this period, we are entitled to apply cancellation and/or administration fees, as well as charge for any time the policy was active.

As you have mentioned, you have spoken with our team and this matter has been resolved, and we trust that is to your satisfaction. Should there be anything else we can help you with, please let us know.

With the information being corrected, this resulted in an increase to your premium. You decided to cancel, and your policy was cancelled in line with our Terms and Conditions.

When you bought your policy, you agreed to our Terms of Business and confirmed this by ticking a box.
