Extremely disappointed with my experience purchasing the Maidstone Leather Duffle Bag from Saddle Leather Goods. I would strongly advise potential customers to think twice before ordering.
The company presents itself as a British leather goods retailer, with a London address, a UK website and products named after British locations. However, when my bag arrived, the FedEx documentation confirmed it had actually been shipped directly from Krishna Handicrafts Trading Pvt Ltd in Udaipur, India.
There is nothing inherently wrong with products coming from India, but I find the lack of transparency concerning. The company’s marketing gave me a very different impression of the business I was purchasing from.
The quality of the bag itself was equally disappointing. Despite being advertised as a premium handcrafted leather product, it arrived with:
* Visible scratches and scuffs across the leather.
* Significant creasing, marks and indentations.
* Rough, unfinished-looking edges along the carrying handle.
* An overall finish that falls well below what I would expect from a premium leather bag.
I contacted the company before receiving my order to raise concerns and request a refund. I received no response. After receiving the bag and discovering these quality issues, I submitted a further formal complaint with photographic evidence, requesting a full refund.
For a company that places such emphasis on craftsmanship, quality and customer satisfaction, my experience has been extremely disappointing.
I paid for what was marketed as a premium leather bag, but the product I received simply does not reflect that standard.
My advice: Be cautious about the company’s British branding, ask where the products are actually manufactured and research the business thoroughly before spending your money.
I certainly wouldn’t purchase from them again based on my experience.
