The sales team provided me with a quote of $270, which was signed, dated, and agreed to by both parties. The replacement part arrived shortly after, and I followed up with SAE Group to schedule an installation. Instead, I received a new quote—this time tripled to $750.
I asked for clarification, but the only response I received was “Please sign the updated quote.” I refused and requested an explanation. I was then sent yet another quote, now $500, still with no explanation as to why the price kept changing.
I attempted to contact customer service multiple times, leaving voicemails as instructed by their phone system. Three weeks passed with no response. When I finally got through to someone, I was told a supervisor would call me back—another week went by, and nothing. I called again and eventually got an explanation: their prices had changed, and an additional person was required onsite.
By that point, I was extremely frustrated. If someone had simply explained this clearly and acknowledged the mistake from the beginning, I would have been far more understanding. Instead, I was left chasing answers for over a month.
I pushed for SAE Group to honour the original agreed quote, and later that same day I received a call confirming they would. I was told they would be in touch shortly to arrange installation. One week later… still nothing.
This has been one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had. As someone with a background in customer service, I’m genuinely appalled. A simple apology, clear explanation, and timely follow-up would have made all the difference—but instead, I was met with silence, shifting prices, and broken promises.
DO NOT waste your time or energy with this company.

I was slightly disconcerted by staff having a safety meeting for over an hour on our front veranda in the middle of installation ( bit odd place and time for inservice ).
The communication from office staff or those organising installation was at the best hit and miss. Also the waiting time from deposit to installation seems excessive. Once installed we paid immediately on that day only to be sent a please pay account 3 days later and yes proof of payment was sent in reply to previous email request, I find this a little rude considering the amount of time we waited for installation post deposit.
Mostly people were pleasant to deal with but the problem seems to be timing.

Weeks later still no installation date and I am two months past my original promised install date.
This is just disgusting no communication.
I have now cancelled the contract just waiting for my deposit to be refunded.

Avoid SAE at all costs. They installed air-conditioning units a few years back when they did Air Conditioning .. the units are great. SAE used brackets to support the air-conditioning units and also the electrical wiring in conduit all around the outside of my house which have now rusted with rust stains on the outside of my house running down the walls. I have appriached SAE Kingscliff many many times and get fobbed off each time telling me it’s not their problem. If they had offered me a choice between brackets that rust and brackets that don’t rust, even if they were a bit more expensive, I would’ve chosen the latter. I was never given this opportunity. So now I have to pay for all new brackets plus the walls of my house to be painted. A big job. Don’t use this company if you want any after sales service.
terrible experience, they installed a new system in jan 2025, after a few months the roof developed a leak, reached out to them straight away and asked for a fix, they said someone will come out to inspect, it took a few weeks and in the meantime the roof leak steadily got worse, after multiple attempts to deal with them they sent out a repair guy who just took photos and said they will go back to the company and ill hear back from someone, also had a team who came and removed the panels in december,
since then i have been trying to contact someone to get the system up and running and the roof fixed which has now caved in,
multiple calls go unanswered, messages not responded to and false promises of someone will call back but no calls ever recieved
really disappointing experience

We had used SAE a decade ago for our original solar panel installation and chose to use them again for a battery wall based on our positive dealings with them. The sales person was so easy to deal with and did a superb job of helping us understand everything on offer. They accommodated our later start date to fit in with renovations already underway. The installation itself was seamless and we opted to update all of our solar panels as well. We are so happy with the results as we are producing more power than we ever anticipated. Thank you SAE. We highly recommend your company.
We upgraded our 8-year-old system (which was still working perfectly) to 19.11kW SunPower panels, a 10kW Sungrow hybrid inverter, and a 25kWh battery. The whole process was amazing—informative, smooth, and professional. The installation team, lead by Ryan were punctual, tidy, respectful and explained everything clearly. The new system is fantastic! Monitoring has made us smarter with our energy use. Couldn’t be happier! Highly recommend SAE Group.
I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but I feel I need to share my experience with SAE Solar to hopefully help others make an informed choice.
We had solar panels installed by SAE. Not long after, we noticed a roof leak directly under where the panels were installed. What started as a small issue quickly turned into significant internal damage to our ceiling due to the significant amount of rain we have had over the last few months.
I contacted them straight away, but it took over a month—and several follow-up emails—before anyone even got back to me. I only received a proper response after escalating things and mentioning I’d be lodging formal complaints. That really shouldn’t be necessary just to get someone to take responsibility.
A technician finally came out in early May, but since then I’ve been stuck chasing answers. I’ve followed up multiple times, even assisting to arrange a local builder to do the repair work, but weeks later I’m still waiting for a decision or timeline.
The installation itself might have been fine, but the customer service and aftercare have been extremely disappointing. If something goes wrong, you want a company that takes ownership and communicates properly. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been my experience with SAE Solar.
I had received a few quotes & calls before speaking with Luke, I had done my own research, heard just about every spiel there was on why I should choose their company, adding Solar to my home had consumed my life for days & I had honestly heard enough of the sales pitches.
When Luke called me, he had his work cut out for him, I was fairly blunt & let him know I didn’t want to hear another sales pitch, he was very understanding & proceeded to give me FACTS, I felt he wasn’t trying to ‘sweeten’ any deals or ‘beat’ any prices that I had received.
The system that I had installed was not the cheapest quote that I received nor was it the most expensive but I feel that SAE offered value for money with components of quality.
The installation was booked & done quickly & the guys were great.
Jack gave me a run down of the system, the app & all the information.
I would have no hesitation in recommending SAE.
In response to seeking quotations to add to our pre-existing small (3.3kW) West-facing roof solar system, SAE sent one of their nearby Sales Team. He reviewed our situation in late 2023, recommended a 6.6kW system, outlined the Terms, Conditions and excellent Guarantees on equipment and work-manship. An East-facing system of 15 Seraphim panels, a 5kW Sungrow Inverter, and smart meter were efficiently installed on 31January 2024, at a fair, but by no means lowest, quoted price.
We chose SAE because of the materials, guarantees, and to support a local business.
It transpired that the Sales Rep was unknown to the Installers, and to the cleaning team who checked and cleaned all our panels and related fittings at a later date as a separate contract. Following initial installation, instructions were shared with me on the use of the iSolarCloud Wi-fi-linked App. This is an excellent tool to monitor generation, usage and costs. Monitoring has changed our awareness and scheduling of major power-reliant appliances, such as the A/C / Heater, washer / dryer, and washing-up machine. Our power bills this year are substantially below those of 2023, even considering the 2024 further reduction in offsets, and some extended periods of overcast and wet weather when solar generation has been minimal.
This is the fifth request for a review of our experience with SAE. It would be sensible for SAE to read what was previously submitted, and to do something about SAE-initiated follow-through communications and contact people.

The product itself is great - their after sales service leaves a lot to be desired. If you need technical help after installation - forget it. I have left messages and numerous emails for them only to respond weeks later and my app issue still isn’t resolved - disappointed - don’t care if they are short staffed or have employee issues the focus should be on their clients.
They have now fixed my issues, so far so good
