Serious Lights for Serious Readers. Daylight reading lights for people who want to see detail and colour without straining to see.
Reading gets harder in the evening, and most people put that down to their eyes. Often it is the light. An ordinary bulb or LED is built on a blue chip, so it looks white while leaving gaps across the spectrum, and your eyes work to fill them in. You get glare across the room while the small print stays hard work. Daylight has no gaps in it, which is why reading by a window on a clear morning is easy.
What a Serious Light does
Rebuilding daylight indoors is the only thing we have done for forty years. Daylight Wavelength Technology™ reaches 98 per cent colour accuracy across the full spectrum, and an HD Original puts up to 7,200 lux on your page at 50cm, which is about twelve times the light you get from an ordinary 60 watt bulb at the same distance. The beam adjusts from a paperback to a full broadsheet, and the dimmer remembers the setting you read by.
The range
We make floor lamps, table lamps and wall-mounted reading lights, in Black and Heritage White. The HD Pro is the most adjustable, with a flexible arm, a remote handset and a cordless option. The HD Original is the one most people choose. The HD Essential is the simplest mains light we make. The HD Mini and the HD ROAM are cordless and portable, for reading nowhere near a socket. The HD Original and HD Essential are hand-built in Aylesbury, around fifty a day.

A first class company

Making light of buying a floor lamp online
Excellent service all round. The website was easy to navigate. There were useful and timely updates by email from both the seller and the carrier (DHL). The floor lamp was delivered within a couple of days. It was well packaged and in use in minutes. No assembly required. Reading is much easier now.

The lamp is fabulous
The lamp is fabulous, I can see to crochet dark colours once more. It has a stable base and is easy to position the lamp.
Customer Service were so helpful, acting on my issue within minutes of me emailing. Highly recommended.

I already have a Serious reader table…
I already have a Serious reader table lamp which I use to read in bed, I am very happy with it so decided to order another for my study. Customer service was very prompt to answer my pre order query, delivery was very swift.
My one complaint is that there base is not truly flat and so wobbles slightly when touched.

The 4 hr battery life is more than sufficient but can be used as a corded unit - a win win.

Your eyes deserve these lights
Beautiful lights, just where you want them, and kind to the eyes. Floor, table, or cordless, all offer variable light levels that are easy to adjust and focus where needed. Packaging and delivery are excellent, and service is friendly and helpful.

Well made
The floor standing lamp arrived in a beautfully packed environmentally sound multi cardboard boxed transit case.
The lamp was a sustantially built item whicj stood perfectly perpendicularly on its heavy base, with a "swan neck" of similar high quality.
Afjustment of the lamp head was easy and the qualty and controlabilty of the light made reading and close work a pleasure.
