I have been a Dumpling shopper for the last five years and I absolutely love it. This way you’re your own boss you set your own prices and you’re allow yourself to shop for the same customers over and over again where you can build a rapport with your customers you learned them and they learn you. It is a great service much better than other apps way Much better than Instacart.

I live in Columbia SC and was using a shopper named Karen Boston. BEWARE! She made adjustments that were not authorized to my card and Dumpling closed my account because I complained. Wow
A+ shopper but the app is often…
A+ shopper but the app is often glitchy. if it's the least bit cloudy the app stops working. I have also had neighbors and friends say they won't use it if it isn't web-based. Trying to communicate with my shopper now and seeing that the app is once again not responding.
Shopper is unbeatable, app has just tanked.…
I'm staying with Dumpling because my shopper is the best I can imagine! However, the app has just changed their software, and it has slowed down to barely usable. In addition, the "saved items" list, which used to be a great convenience as a place to keep all items and quickly swipe to add the ones you need, is even slower than the rest of the app. Terrible decrement in quality.
Didn't like Dumpling at all
I don't know why people rave about this service. The shopping list is hideously bad, so it takes a lot of time to make up a list to get exactly what you need. Once I did, the shopper bought other stuff to replace that I didn't want and had to throw away as the store wasn't taking anything back due to Covid. I went back to Instacart as the shopping is easy. It's worth the extra price.
I love the service
I love the service. I can have The same person whenever I placed the order compared to other companies like shipt where they will send different people. the only thing I recommend is that this platform needs to be more sophisticated we have to add a cutting edge technology to catch up with other platforms it is very hard to add items it is hard to switch items they still have a lot to do with their platform

I rate the company with a two star as I liked the detailed shopping list for Trader Joe’s & the write ups on the shoppers. That said, after completing a shopping list I was unable to tender out with my debt card. The system (bot?) claimed it was a prepaid card. This debt card has purchased airline tickets, rented cars, but now it cannot buy $80 worth of groceries? Furthermore in contacting the company I have not received a response back. AnyCart and Shipt are much better options, along with Amazon.
Needs to be more user friendly, and update clients of any changes made by shoppers
I decided to try this app out, as I had heard good reviews. I have Amazon Prime, and I've tried other market delivery services, but unfortunately. . .Trader Joe's does not deliver/nor is partnered with platforms like Instacart, Doordash, etc.
At first glance, it's great that you can pick your shopper. However, Dumpling needs to improve the service area that each shopper covers, to indicate where they're based. I think I emailed two shoppers, and even though it showed they covered my area, both of them said they don't usually head out my way. On the third person I contacted, he said he would take care of me, but ended up changing the delivery date without telling me. On his profile, it said Sunday, so I was waiting around , expecting to have my groceries delivered. He didn't even notify me of the change.
I'll stick with Amazon Fresh, and heading to grocery stores.
Not the ethical alternative
They call themselves the ethical alternative to Instacart or Shipt...they have sold out and are as money hungry as anyone else. Drew in customers and changed their fees with no notice.
Different than the normal services
After leading gig economy apps started to flood the platforms with new people ( pulling away my regular shoppers i have had for 9 months) One of them found Dumpling! Not only am I at ease knowing it is always the same person, but they can go ANYWHERE within one trip to me! I dont have to worry about poor quality, missing items (because they can be found at a different store), and most of all, I know my shopper is clean and goes above and beyond to assure my foods safety.
Screw in dumplings
First time ever buying aunt Bessie's frozen dumplings, not going to lie they were nice, until my husband bit into one and a half inch screw was in it. Thank god our grandchildren didn't have that dumpling. Never buying aunt Bessie products again!!

This was my first time using a grocery delivery service, but it won't be my last. Janice was quick to respond, and fit me into the schedule right away. She kept me informed of where she was on the process. She also contacted me with questions about substitutions. Delivery was touchless, and she wore a mask. Highly recommend for people living in the Tacoma area.
My shopper Mary Beth is amazing!
My shopper Mary Beth is amazing!! If a store is out of a product, she goes all over town to get it for me. She will even carry the groceries in for me. One time I didn't get home in time so she put my groceries in the outdoor fridge so they wouldn't be in the sun!
They're not worth the aggravation!
It takes forever to build and place an order on this site; it is really tedious! It is enough to turn you off of the system right off the bat. However, I had a great personal shopper initially, so I stayed with her in spite of the ordering system.
The occasion came when my usual shopper wasn't available and I tried a new shopper. That's when it all went sideways. After 45 minutes painstakingly inputting the order, I received a message in half that time that said my order had been canceled! I messaged the shopper to ask why. She told me she didn't know why my order had been canceled, but she had been locked out of the dumpling system. She said she would phone them to inquire. I had to hunt to find a way to contact the admin by email (never did find a phone #) to ask them why they canceled my order. They replied the next day that they had not canceled the order; it must have been canceled by the shopper. Well, this is more time, aggravation, and run-around than my blood pressure will bear to have some stranger pick up groceries for me. It's too bad because as a senior with disabilities, I am the target consumer for a service like this. But neither their computer interface nor customer service seem to be built with us in mind.

The user friendliness of the app is terrible and the pricing of the items is way off.
Excellent shopper
My shopper, Paul, is excellent! He goes above and beyond, striving to find the correct items, the freshest products, and will even stop by another store if the store I selected doesn’t have the item I wanted. He stays in constant contact to ensure that I approve any substitutions he is forced to make. I highly recommend this service.
Dumpling is not like Instacart!
I don’t think people realize that Dumpling is the app that was created for individual people to be able to be their own boss. Dumpling is not like instacart. I have worked for several “Gig” companies. Instacart, Shipt, DoorDash to name a few. They say their shoppers are independent contractors but they still “work” for them. Dumpling is different in the fact that the shopper pretty much is their own entity. You are hiring the shopper, not dumpling. Please do not “hate” dumpling. The shopper sets their own prices for the shopping and delivery. Yes, dumpling gets a percentage to help support the app. You will pay more using instacart or just as much. The prices shown on dumpling app are national average prices! Not what you pay. You pay what ever your store prices are. Please tip your shopper well. Especially since they are front line workers going into the stores and shopping during Covid-19. They are putting their health at risk for you to stay home and be safe. If your personal shopper does not communicate with you, it’s not dumplings fault. You can reach out to your shopper. Your Dumpling shopper does not have the ability to see your credit information. That is Dumpling job to “bill” you once the shopper has shopped for you. Please be aware you will be charged prior to delivery in most cases as the shopper wants to be sure the transaction goes through. Hire local person vs a big billion dollar corporation in CA. Most of the dumpling shoppers are trying to support themselves and not live on the government. If you have an issue with a shopper do not write a bad review about Dumpling. It’s not Dumpling to hate... write a review about your personal shopper that you hired to shop and deliver for you. When you hire a dumpling shopper you will always have that shopper unless you change shoppers!! I need to go shop now for my 5 star business....
