Hung me out to dry when I needed them the most

It’s amazing to me that this terrible company is still in existence. There’s a very good reason that Relevant Radio and other Catholic outlets have distanced themselves from this operation. I faithfully paid their monthly rate that they somehow justified inflating to $300+ from the advertised $100+ for well over a year, just to have them screw me when I needed them the most. Right at the onset of all the COVID madness I was struck with appendicitis being my first claim ever. The public health crisis took a serious toll on my freshly started business and they were unwilling to help me. They kept saying there were complications because everyone was forced to work from home, but when threatened with collections their only advice to me was to pay on the bill, and they would “reimburse” me. I tried to explaining that I couldn’t even afford my monthly bill at the time, not to mention their inflated monthly rate, and now I’m supposed to pay this medical bill that I’m paying them to handle? Very unprofessional, and very embarrassing. They are giving Catholic businesses a bad name. I smell a chapter 11 coming soon, they can’t keep operating like this

Solidarity is a scam

Solidarity has failed to "share into" thousands and thousands of dollars of medical bills incurred in late 2021 and submitted and approved for processing in early 2022. We were members from 2020-late 2023. They have zero transparency in when these would be out of "processing" and have assured us that they are just waiting for "batch and match". It is now then of 2023. We had to switch from Solidarity so that we could afford to incur more medical expenses, and while assured by a representative that our old needs incurred would still be shared into, on inquiry thereafter were informed that while "We have been processing bills that were accrued while the member was active. However, we have recently decided to strictly abide by the guidelines that state only bills for active members are eligible. This will ensure a smoother process for all members." They "reprice" bills for ridiculously less than charged (we're talking tens of dollars instead of hundreds, hundreds instead of the billed thousands) and will only share into the repriced amount , but have no means of enforcing the repricing on the hospital, and AMPS is only of help in very minor expenses when the hospitals fill like writing it off, otherwise they can only send warnings to said hospital. This is a scam; it is no way Catholic and is profiting off of it's marketing as such. Run away, get off of Solidarity. Their claim that Covid caused a backlog is no longer valid. Your bills will marinate in Processing eternity and you'll only see a fraction of a return on your funds. They will hike your rates, create new excuses, assure you of one thing and then disingenuously do the opposite. Solidarity, I repeat, is a scam.

Sometimes Late is Never

When you go to access healthcare, one of the benefits of participating in a healthshare program is that it removes the anxiety and difficulties related to the process.

However, Solidarity has been much more of a headache for me than a reassurance. After spending hours upon hours on the phone with providers getting the requisite forms to submit, I found that I would wait a long time for a response. When providers actually submitted information to Solidarity directly, the responses were only slightly faster.

In April 2022, my doctor suggested I see a GI specialist for an endoscopy and colonoscopy to assess ongoing pain and other issues. Solidarity doesn't (or did not) have a way for me to submit anything in advance to get the ball rolling, but since I had not yet hit my unshared annual limit, I didn't really worry about this. I paid cash, had the procedure in May 2022, submitted the paperwork, and heard nothing for a long time.

Mind you, I had gone to the ER a few months earlier for unrelated issues. Even with just adjusting for cash payment, the two fees were likely to be less than the limit. My out-of-pocket after negotiation was about $5500 for the ER visit with its accompanying doctor and radiologist fees, the GI doctor, GI procedure, and a handful of tests related to the GI stuff and routine testing. If I had another event that year, I would have been over the $6000 sharing limit and should have been covered. Fortunately I did not, because Solidarity only finished accounting for those bills in 2023.

The good news is that as of September 2023, all my medical bills from 2022 are in the system. If the hospital and GI doctor had not been fair in their dealings, I could have been in a world of financial hurt.

The advice from Solidarity is that if they're slow in following up on bills, you should tell the collections people that the bill is being negotiated. I'm not sure how well that works, but they say the timeframe is 120 days from when they receive the bills.

It took me nearly a month to get all my ER bills from my hospital in the format Solidarity required. This was due to the hospital's confusion about what I needed. That meant that all the ER-related bills weren't resolved for almost six months after the visit–well into the time where they could have sent my bill to collections.

I paid in advance for the GI stuff, so it wasn't the same worry, but at the same time I don't expect 120 days to turn into more than a year before follow up.

I am leaving Solidarity Healthshare. I suggest others learn from my experience.

Would never recommend…

Would never recommend Solidarity....this healthshare borders on being a complete scam. Invoices from 16 months ago have still not be evaluated for sharing. Every time my husband and I call customer service, we are told a different story. We've been told every excuse from computer glitches to varying employees to delays from oversharing. Our rate was raised $249 in one year!
Sadly, we've wasted so much money in hopes of "sharing" through Solidarity.

I have been a member since May 2019

I have been a member since May 2019 and Solidarity has not paid a dime of my bills. I have contributed over $20K and not received a dime of benefits. A pre-approved surgery from 2021 is still not paid and I was sent to collections by the Medical facility for non -payment. I am a practicing Catholic and thought this organization would be a good fit. I was wrong, they give Catholics a bad reputation.

Great Customer Support

This was my first time using Solidarity Healthshare after changing from having insurance. My first experience of going to the pharmacy to get a flu shot was great! I had to call customer support to confirm whether I had to pay out of pocket or the pharmacy needed to bill Solidarity instead. Customer support answered the call quickly and was extremely helpful. She explained everything and answered all my questions. I've already submitted all the paperwork so I should be getting reimbursed shortly. Thanks Solidarity for making my first use experience a great one!

Doesn't Deserve a Star

If I can give them less than one star, I would do that. I've been a policyholder with Solidarity HealthShare for over 4 years, and I can say without a doubt that they are just as bad as Liberty HealthShare, which we switched from four years ago. Here are just a few of the many reasons why you should avoid them at all costs:

Solidarity HealthShare lured me in with the promise of comprehensive coverage at an affordable rate and timely claims processing. Looking back, that was only true for about the first year with them. Then each year after that, they got worse.

Submitting a claim with Solidarity HealthShare is an exercise in frustration. They seem to have a policy of denying claims by default. It doesn't matter how well-documented or legitimate your claim is; they will find any reason to deny it. It's as if they exist solely to collect premiums which went up recently by almost 50% and avoid paying out on claims.

If you're fortunate enough to have a claim approved for reimbursement, don't expect a check for years. Solidarity HealthShare has a strict policy that you must submit any claims within 90 days or it will not be covered. And yet it took them over one year to reimburse me for getting a $60 vaccine that is a covered preventative care. Reimbursement for cash payments to doctors have not been paid to me since 2021. Now, I avoid going to a doctor that would require me to pay upfront. They are slow in processing claims that will require member reimbursement. Though, they are very quick to process a claim when it falls under your annual unshared amount.

All customer service representatives I’ve dealt with were pleasant, but that is it. I’ve called in to ask if a procedure needed prior authorization and given different answers for the same question! It is very confusing when you need to know what the protocol is before having a pricey medical procedure done!! I repeatedly call the customer reps to ask for a timeline on my reimbursements, they always tell me they don’t know. And when I ask to speak to a manager to get an answer, they tell me that they won’t have that information for me either. That is unbelievable!!!

In conclusion, I feel that Solidarity HealthShare is a disgrace to the Christian health share industry. Their practices and endless claim denials make them a company that should be avoided at all costs. I regret ever signing up with them and urge anyone considering their services to explore other options that will actually provide the coverage and support you need when it matters most.

Terrible Experience with Solidarity HealthShare

I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Solidarity HealthShare, and I must say it was one of the most frustrating and disappointing encounters I've had with any company, let alone a medical share provider.

They owe me reimbursement of over $3,800 dating back to 2021! I call every month, but I never get an answer as to when I will be paid. Transparency is crucial when it comes to sharing, but Solidarity HealthShare seems to have a policy of keeping customers in the dark about important information. They are very good at getting our premium every month, but not good at fulfilling their end of the contract. Not very Christian!

Two months ago, they significantly increased my premiums and have still not reimbursed me.

Many times when I submitted a claim, there was always some excuse or loophole they used to deny or partially cover my expenses. It felt like they were actively searching for reasons not to pay even when I gave them all the information they requested.

The policies and terms provided by Solidarity were difficult to understand. When I tried to seek clarification, their customer service representatives often gave me explanations that were conflicting with the previous representative I talked to about their own policies.

When I discussed having access to my portal when I cancel, I was told that I would have access for only 100 days and if I canceled, there would be a chance that Solidarity will not reimburse me all the claims that they already approved. This would not be fair at all!

In summary, my experience with Solidarity HealthShare has been nothing short of a nightmare. Their lack of transparency, poor customer service, and seemingly deceptive practices make them a company I cannot recommend to anyone. I strongly advise potential customers to look elsewhere for their medical insurance needs and save themselves from the frustration and disappointment that I endured.

How I would give them 0 stars if I…

How I would give them 0 stars if I could. They make up excuses as to why they can’t share in certain things or ask for paperwork to be sent over and over again. My maternity bills are still waiting to be paid well over the 120 business day mark. Feels like an utter scam to me!!! Stay far away from this one.

Solidarity has unfortunately not been…

Solidarity has unfortunately not been helpful, nor given us reimbursement for bills. Two bills haven’t been paid and it’s been almost a year. I would not recommend them. Employees usually give the run around and aren’t helpful. My husband and I have gotten different answers as to when we will be reimbursed for bill, but they always say they aren’t responsible for payment?!? Isn’t this supposed to be a Catholic health share? I wish there was more transparency. Wouldn’t recommend.

THE BEST WORD IS HYPOCRISY

When we joined it sounded great and many words were shared about everything that would be paid and how easy it would be. My husband joined a year or two before I did. I joined in 2021 and had a baby that year they told me how easy it would be to submit and they talk with the hospital and pay. They have never paid and 2 years later. We have paid $614 a month for 2 years and they have paid less than $1000 in 2 years. I am not stuck with $20,000 in medical bills and have wasted over $13,000 is monthly payments when I was told my bills would be paid. I am a believer and this company has a lot of nerve saying they have christian values yet do this to their customers. My husband and I own our own business and would never lie and treat our employees or customers this way. I will be sure to tell people the truth about this company.

STAY AWAY!

When we joined in 2018 it was great then several years ago their entire database system crashed. A customer rep informed of this on one of my million phone calls searching for answers (which was later confirmed by my own research). It has been a nightmare of an experience after that with this company! They make all kinds of mistakes and then when you try to call to get answers you are treated in an extremely condescending and patronizing manner. There was one supervisor that I was finally able to connect with (after threatening legal action) that was able to unscramble all of the messes that they had created, but do not expect to be treated by the customer service representatives with anything resembling professionalism since they are obviously untrained not only in terms of not having answers but in basic phone etiquette.

Contact HCP, Collections is having me pay

Please communicate to my Health Care Providers when they call and email.
I'm getting many bills from Health Care Providers due to NO commincation from Solidarity with the repricing.
Some over a year old.
So I'm left having to pay for the non contracted amount or go into collections because Solidarity will not communicate with health care provider or myself

I have paid my plan for many years and I feel like all my payments where for nothing. They have provided no resolve on any bills over the year. They collect your monthly payments and turn away with their part.

If there were a zero star option

If there were a zero star option, I'd be choosing that. They have their "way" of repricing a bill without notifying the provider, applying their own discount to your annual paid in amount, and leave you with the rest of the bill. Littered with red tape in order to submit a bill, then just to have them - months later - say your bill is insufficient because it is missing a diagnosis code or something else, when infact it is on the document. They do everything they can not to pay anything, but still collect your monthly payment.

All that, then my son got cancer, and the bottom line was - go somewhere else. They have it in their paperwork that we can not sue them (red flag?). They say we are covered for the time we were members, then do nothing.

Know this. If you have solidarity for your family, and think you are covered, you're not. Thats the bottom line.

If you're thinking about signing up, don't. If you currently have them, make no more payments and choose another avenue. They will leave you high and dry in your family's time of need, and finish with "we're going to pray for you"

Solidarity, Do me a favor. Take those prayers and request to almighty God you are not judged according to what you have done.

Solidarity Healthshare uses the term…

Solidarity Healthshare uses the term Christian in their company press releases and "PROPAGANDA" and they are anything but Christian and it gives Christianity a BAD NAME !!!
We have had outstanding bills from 2+ years ago that are still in processing ! I have made a claim to the Arizona BBB and our state Attorney General in Minnesota and that really hasn't made a difference in their ability to do the right thing as Christians and a legitimate business that would take care of their paying customers. THEY ARE A BAD BAD BUSINESS !
They should be shut down by their AZ State Attorney General and the Federal Government should be looking into their books. Maybe a call to 60 Minutes and they could do a little dance with them !
