Solidarity HealthShare Avis 

I retired in January and was looking for insurance through other insurance agencies. I learned of health share and Solidarities Christian values, the team was very helpful in the onboarding process and has been very responsive to questions.

1) My wife spends 1-3 hours a week on the phone with Solidarity trying to get things paid.

2) If, and that’s a big IF, they do pay, be prepared to wait over 12 months for payment. You therefore need to be prepared to pay thousands of dollars for large expenses to avoid collections, and then pray Solidarity will satisfy its obligations, which it likely will not.

3) It arbitrarily refuses to share into things if it says the hospital/doctor charged too much, leaving you with the bill… but will provide not support or guidance on how to deal with the hospital.

4) They say they will notify you if anything is missing from claims you upload so that it can get promptly corrected; instead they will wait 6 months or more and let you know that the claim is rejected, and they will not provide a reason.

5) Processes and policies are constantly changing. Staff is wildly condescending when you aren’t up to speed on the new set of internal processes that they do not inform you about.

At best, Solidarity is negligently managed and inept. At worst, it’s a scam and needs to be investigated.

In true Solidarity form, the reply tries to blame the member for not providing proper coding information. This is absolute bologna, and Solidarity knows it. In a call with them, they have CONFIRMED that we have had multiple instances of providing the SAME information, and that their software has failed to recognize it or process it correctly.

This is not an honest organization. We have terminated our membership. Predictably, they will cut off our access to the billing system 100 days after the service ends, but it takes over 120 BUSINESS days for them to process charges. We expect to be engaged with them for the next couple years trying to get paid, and providing the same information over and over again.

6 days ago, and only after I posted a negative review, their "Member Resolutions Manager" contacted us via email. I responded requesting a time to speak about a specific bill, and have not heard back from them. So it's laughable that the response asks me to contact their "Member Care Team"

Stay away. If you're already a member, hold them accountable and keep on them.

Any Catholic person or entity endorsing them should reconsider.

Solidarity still has not responded to my request for a call with customer care.

Solidarity canceled our coverage after they charged for monthly dues. They claimed it was for insufficient funds when they tried to pull funds, this was not the case. Did not receive any phone call or notification that they had cancelled coverage when this had happened. Took a lengthy phone call to straighten things up. Not impressed for a Catholic HealthShare program. They only seem to take funds and not cover anything!! Not impressed with the program!!

I had the initial Wellness Check-in over the phone and it was a pleasant conversation. I got suggestions on what to do and some brochures to read for my knowledge.

I have been waiting to get reimbursed for a doctor bill since May. This is quite a hardship for me. I have spoke to many people and they keep telling me they don’t have a receipt and then I speak with another one and they say they do have the receipt, Ida is the best person that I have talk to. I think the turnaround for paying bills and getting reimbursed is ridiculously slow.

I needed help and instead of getting stuck in a maze or automated answers a real person called and handled the issue with ease. A refreshing blessing!

My health coach Samantha is always patient, knowledgeable and encouraging. She always has new information to share with me to help in lowering my diabetes.

I am a new member since 8/1/2022 and I still cannot get into member portal because of not having an SSN (student on F1 visa). Have asked for help several times and still no resolution. Please help Kennedy Paden get a solution. Thank you!

Solidarity is always good about responding to my questions. As a new member to health sharing, I really appreciate their time!

I feel that Solidarity is an amazing program. The people are extremely helpful and kind. My only issue is with how long it takes to process claims.

Solidarity Health Share has provided the BEST customer service, support and care I have ever had. Solidarity is NOT health insurance in the traditional sense, and thank God it isn't, or I wouldn't have been aligned, approved and covered for the unforeseen health issues I have had this year. They have been instrumental in saving my life! Solidarity has considered my life valuable and unquestionably worth the treatment regime I required. I can honestly say, I have been treated mercifully, as part of their family. Solidarity Health Share is people helping people. The extraordinary health care I receive as a member with Solidary, inspires me to tell everyone to experience it for themselves!

If I could give less stars at this point, I would. I have been with Solidarity for over four years now.
I have never been late with a payment. It started out as a great experience and they covered all my bills. Starting in late 2019 early 2020 that’s when it started to rapidly decline but I still hung in there. I hadn’t had a lot of doctor visits so I really didn’t have serious concerns.
Fast forward to 2021 and the pandemic. I had an emergency room visit and some well care appointments and NONE OF MY BILLS going forward since April of 2021 have been paid.
I have been making my monthly dues payment of a little over $300 per month for myself alone.
I have made countless calls, sent letters, but to no avail. They reply to me with cut and pasted replies saying they are processing bills at 120 days past receipt… when I replied and said my bills are 365 + days past receipt they literally don’t know what to say. Crickets.

I need my bills paid. At this point, I’m terribly afraid if I get sick or need to go to the hospital, I’ll be in serious debt due to the negligence of this company.
Being a Catholic company I feel they have so much more to answer for. I have asked to speak to those with real authority in the company but they hide behind their telephone reps and you can’t get any help.
You’re told to be patient.
I said to the young man on the phone, if I stopped paying my dues and said, “Be patient – I am 120 days out from being able to pay my dues, what would you tell me?”
He said, “We would cancel your membership.”
So I am paying $311 dollars per month to have none of my medical bills shared into.

I also found a terrible article about them in the Pillar Catholic online site. Just do a google search of pillar catholic and solidarity health share.

This didn’t make me feel much better.

If anyone knows of a way they can help me, I would greatly appreciate it… but if you’re looking for a good health share, this isn’t it. 🙁

Great experience! It was so easy and the price was half that of my wife's insurance through her work.

If I could rate zero stars I would. It has to be illegal to take premiums every month and then not pay out a dime. That's what will happen if you go this route. A routine colonoscopy, should be a straight for payment but here I am six months later as my bills are being sent to collections. Stay as far away as you can from this option.

Our family signed up with Solidarity in 2014 as it was much cheaper than Excellus and I was a newly converted Catholic, my husband still a Protestant but went along with it. For the first 6 years, they paid their share and we had few claims (me, my husband, 2 sons). I was proud to introduce Solidarity to the local medical community and after the first visit, they didn't question. I also talked our son and daughter in law to sign up even though other members of the family thought it was 'Catholic health insurance, (DIL a baptized Catholic at least). July of 2020 my DIL, a young mother of 3 little girls nearly died from a burst septic appendix, misdiagnosed three times, nothing to do with Solidarity. You can imagine the medical bills in the tens of thousands. She submitted everything more than once and kept getting the run around, codes, etc. At one point, I called on their behalf but got no where either. I Don't think their bills have been paid yet, and Solidarity assured both of us that they would not have to pay more then $1500. Their credit is in the can. Fast forward November 2021. I am diagnosed with Covid, get monoclonal antibodies and wait for payment. I called several times over the course of this past winter/spring. They tell me the are having computer problems, ask for codes, then tell me in April that the government is supposed to pay Covid costs. No one ever told me that before. I look up that claim and find out the government ran out of money in March. I was left with just under $2000 to pay which I am making payments for and am obviously not a member any longer. Sorry to have this happen as it soured my family on the Church.

I joined Solidarity to help save in health care costs. I was told at the time of joining that each member receives a complementary visit to a wellness provider each year and to submit paperwork to receive compensation. I submitted paperwork in September 2021 and heard nothing back. I called in several times and was told they were "behind on processing" and it would be completed because they were within the window of time. A couple of months go by and I call in to follow up as I'd not heard anything back or received the compensation for what I paid. When I called they said they needed diagnostic codes. BUT NO ONE TOLD ME THEY NEEDED THEM. I got them and called in and was told I was good to go and it would be processed. Called again when no money came. Told they needed different ones. NO ONE TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NEEDED. Got the new codes and when I gave them to the rep was told I was good to go and should receive money soon. Nothing. Called in again and was told now they needed procedural codes. Got them and called in. Same song and dance. When no money came, I called again BY THIS TIME I'VE SPENT HOURS OF TIME on calls etc. They said they needed different procedure codes. I got them and was told it was good to go and they'd expedite it. NOTHING. Just called just now and they said there is an error and the rep fixed it and just sent it back to billing to be paid out. AGAIN I AM NEVER TOLD THERE IS A PROBLEM. IT IS JUNE OF 2022 (9 MONTHS LATER!!!!) and I have no trust these folks will pay me the $669 they promised. Please help!

Looks like they run out of money or something. I have been happy with them in the past, but in the last year they completely stopped paying out for the bills. I have $7,000 in medical bills and have been waiting for a reimbursement for a year now, while still paying my membership every month. They admit that their typical time to reimburse is 6 months, but they don't even fulfil that promise. DO NOT SIGN UP!

We’ve been contributing members since 2018 and have been trying to get a substantial medical bill paid by Solidarity since 2020. They’ve either ignored us or given us the run around every step of the way. The bill is now accruing interest in collections and Solidarity still can’t figure out how to pay it. As soon as we can get this fiasco resolved, we're gone.

Run, run, run away from engaging with this company. To put themselves out there as a Christian based company is an embarrassment! We have been members for 16 months and put in our first two cost shares in October and December 2021 and now Middle of April 2022 and still have not been settled and both were only for check ups totaling just over $500, we pay $500 for my family of 3 each month, would have been better off not having any health coverage because that is basically what we had...they make every excuse and put as many obstacles in place not to pay anything. We have reached out about 10 times to customer service and continually get the run around and that someone will let us know if additional information is needed by reaching out to us, they never do. Save yourself some frustration, money and time by not choosing this company to engage with.
