Susie came to my house within a few days of me contacting the company. She was very professional and knowledgeable. She give me competitive quotes on a range of options.
My panels were installed within a few weeks. The guys were to come 830am but there at 810am..excellent service. installation was quick and easy. John and Fergal were very tidy. Fergal even vacuumed up dust inside room where John had pulled wires through! John showed me how to work app. From start to finish I found the process very easy. Susie is very approachable and if I have any questions I text her or ring the office. The panels are working really well for me as I used pay between £5 and £10 pounds daily. Since installation 12 days ago I've only spent £7 on electric and I've exported over £20 back to grid. I'm very happy. I have no hesitation in recommending Susie and Start Solar to potential customers. I've already referred 2 customers and they both have agreed to install through Start Solar. If anyone wants more information I'm happy to provide it.

From initial consultation to completion was very well explained and the work was completed in a day with everything left clean and tidy. Electrician got the apps downloaded on my phone and explained how everything worked. Great company to do business with and I would highly recommend them

The initial sales process was strong, with an engaging site visit and prompt follow-ups to answer questions. However, that level of engagement dropped off significantly after signing the contract and paying the deposit.

Installation was originally scheduled for completion before Christmas 2025. In reality, works did not begin until mid-February and were not completed until mid-March, representing a significant delay with little proactive communication.

From the point of contract signing, communication was effectively non-existent. I received little to no proactive updates, experienced repeated missed callbacks, and had to continually chase for basic information. I was advised that the G99 Fast Track application to NIE was in progress; however, upon contacting NIE directly, I established that it had not been submitted when indicated and was only created significantly later.

The installation itself was also problematic at times:

* Incorrect panels were installed and later had to be replaced
* Work was left incomplete across multiple visits
* Site tidiness fell below an acceptable standard

In addition, invoices were issued outside of the agreed payment schedule and required challenge before being corrected.

Progress only improved after I persistently chased updates and made it clear I was prepared to withdraw from the contract. Following that, the outstanding issues were addressed, the correct panels were installed, and the system was completed with the required documentation provided.

The system is now up and running and performing well.

In summary, while the final outcome is acceptable, the overall experience fell well below expectations. This has been one of the poorest customer experiences I have encountered, and I would not recommend Start Solar based on my experience.

We recently had a PV solar panel system installed by Start Solar Ltd., and overall we are very happy with the quality of the work and the professionalism of the team.

Gerry, the Sales Director, was outstanding — professional, friendly, a great listener, and always available by phone, text, or email, regardless of time or day. He went well beyond his role and made the whole process much easier.

The electricians, John and Steven, and the roofers, Martin and Rim, were all very professional, approachable, and delivered high‑quality workmanship. They went the extra mile for a few things for me, which was greatly appreciated.

On the admin side, the experience was mixed. Sofia was responsive and helpful when contacted and clearly did her best to provide support and updates. In contrast, communication from Rowena was noticeably slower, which contributed to delays and a lack of clarity at times. Overall, the admin team appears overstretched, and this affected coordination — including a delay with the EV charger installation due to internal alignment and material ordering. Increasing admin capacity, improving coordination between departments, and providing clearer, more proactive status updates would significantly enhance the customer experience.

Despite these points, the installation quality and on‑site teams were excellent. I would confidently recommend Start Solar Ltd. to anyone considering solar PV in Ireland, and with some improvements on the admin side, their service could be exceptional from start to finish.

Six months after my new-build property was damaged during an installation, Start Solar has made no genuine effort to resolve the issue or carry out the necessary repairs. This is despite an independent roofer’s report clearly setting out exactly what is required to make the roof fully watertight.

Rather than accepting responsibility, the company has effectively distanced itself from the problem entirely, showing a blatant lack of accountability and no regard for the disruption and damage caused. Their customer service has been consistently unacceptable — there have been no proactive attempts to resolve the matter, only repeated excuses and vague, misleading emails that create the appearance of progress without any substance behind them. Dates were requested for repairs while I arranged to be available at home, only for these commitments to be repeatedly ignored or allowed to go nowhere. Numerous calls have also been deliberately or conveniently left unanswered or not returned.

Ultimately, once installation is complete, there appears to be no willingness to stand behind their work or take responsibility when serious issues arise. The entire experience has demonstrated a clear pattern of avoidance rather than resolution, leaving the customer to deal with the consequences alone.

Why can't all companies be like Start Solar? They were professional, efficient and friendly from the beginning to the end of our experience. The solar package they recommended was perfect for our needs, was well priced, expertly installed and all paperwork efficiently sent. We are now saving on our electricity, get free hot water and put a few miles in our car every day! I really could not recommend Start Solar highly enough. If you thinking of a solar system, and everyone should be at the moment, get a quote from Start Solar and start saving!

Very impressed from start to finish. No nonsense just straight to the facts. Have to say was very impressed with John and Fergal, credit to the company and took great care with installation putting me at ease. John positioned my battery well and was neat and tidy and Fergal positioned the panels very neatly causing no issues to the roof.

I got my solar panels and invertor / battery installed by Start Solar. After some initial mis-communication, on the whole, the install went OK. However when I tried to get an additional panel fitted, this took quite a few calls and time to arrange. Their customer service is an area which Start Solar need to work on. Although since speaking to the sales manager, I believe they have taken my concerns onboard and responded well.

Start Solar Ltd supply an excellent 5 star product that is exactly as described. Installation is rapid; professional; and efficient. The team are friendly and customer facing, and no trouble is too much to achieve client satisfaction. The overall experience and service is outstanding. Highly recommended.

From the moment I met the guys from start solar to the completion of the installation was seam less.
I had made an appointment with Andrew, called up to my house and told me the best places to mount the solar panels, then explained all the pros of solar and how it all worked. Any questions I asked were all answered very professional and with full explanations.
These guys knew there stuff and I felt very comfortable to place an order there and then.
About 8 weeks later my instal was arranged. The guys showed up around 8am - I went onto work and came back home at 4.30pm and the electrician was onsite just finishing up. I assumed they had to come the next day to finish, however they had everything done and dusted, and cleaned up. All my batteries and inverters was put up so tidy and out of the way in the attic. They explained all to me, downloaded the apps to my phone and showed me how to use the new car charger.
The icing on the cake for me was the phone call from start solars head office around 15mins after the engineer has left.
Follow up phone call to check that everything was done as it should be and what would happen moving forward.

Total professional service from the time Andrew walked down my driveway until the engineer walked back up it again with the job complete.

I would recommend having a chat with these guys even if you’re considering this for 6 months or a year down the line. Super helpful and professional with no pressure to buy their product.

After going through a robust procurement exercise, I made the decision to go with ‘Start Solar’ owned by Andrew McKee. Andrew took the time to explain all the features and benefits of solar power how it would all work on my roof and how investing money in my roof made better sense than keeping it in the bank. The installation day went smoothly and everything he said would did happen dead. I chose a system with 15 panels a 10 kW battery, an inverter and an Eddie. I can already see that I am generating my own electricity to run my household during the day and the night and also heat my water and yet it’s only the end of February. I highly recommend Andrew and his team.

Can’t recommend the team at Start Solar enough. From site survey to installation everything was clear and simple.

I obtained several quotes for my solar system and although StartSolar was not the cheapest for the spec of system I am glad I went with them. Installed without a hitch, very happy with system.

Very professional service, staff lovely, shout out to Ryan and James for being so patient. Andrew has a wealth of experience and knowledge which was very helpful when deciding what type of system to put in. The guys who came out to do the work were all very respectful and really friendly which always helps.

Initially the sales and organisation of installation seemed to go well but that is where things started to go wrong . The communication between my sales person and the workmen was very poor which resulted in mistakes being made and delay s. I am now 7months down the line but I still haven’t had the bird proofing completed which I was not offered at the time and I believe I should have been .I now have birds nesting under the panels which is a big problem .Numerous calls to head office and my original sales person has not resolved this

I would highly recommend Solar Start. The process was seamless from start to finish, completed professionally and to a high standard. Response to queries has been swift and every member of staff a pleasure.

Start solar ireland. There were a few glitches between quote and installation but nothing major. However they failed to register us as a provider and have not fully righted the situation. The fault is clearly theirs. Disappointing and frustrating that they are not engaging to address their negligence.

After 5 years my system still doesnt work correctly. Inverter has never provided correct information since install and they have no intention of fixing it instead blaming the supplier of the inverter. Stupidly bought additional batteries off them last year as they offered a good price. Surprisingly they have never worked correctly since installation, at the start they would randomly drop up to 20% of their charge, eventually not charging beyond 20%. still waiting on some sort of fix after constant calls to them. Again they are blaming the battery supplier, seems to be a pattern were its not their fault so not their problem. Never have i been called back, probably in the hopes they could avoid fixing it.

Recently just got solar panels done and can say absolutely pleased with the whole team from start to finish . Very professional and good workmen and workwoman lol . Thanks Andrew for all your help with my annoying questions which you answered . Can’t wait to see my bills come down !!!!
