The Ginger Pig Avis 

I made an online order during the heatwave around three weeks ago. The order consisted of the cheaper cuts of steak with some sausages.

Upon arriving to collect the order The Ginger Pig upgraded me to an Onglet and Rump steak free of charge due to a transport concern due to the high temperature.

The steaks and sausages were noticeably more delicious than my usual fare from Sainsburys and Lidl.

They cooked easily, smelt fresh and tasted wonderful. I will no longer be dining out at say Gaucho or Goodmans and will instead opt for the Ginger Pig - it was that good!

The staff were friendly and professional and so the experience all round was exceptionally great - 10/10.

First online order from Ginger Pig, and won't be the last! The sausage, bacon, chicken were absolutely fantastic, all packed perfectly, and products wrapped in butchers paper rather than vacuum packed. Looking forward to our next order. Oh. And don't forget to try the pork scratchings - delicious!

Great experience. The location is near the playhouse in Weston so convenient if you're going there. the surroundings area doesn't have the most up-market feel about it but once you get in to the restaurant all that is forgotten.

It has a lovely feel about the place, lots of space, you're not crammed in like so many other eateries. the staff were fabulous, so helpful, polite and efficient. Orders were taken and served quickly, but not in a "get on with it we need the table" way.

The food was excellent, good slices of roast beef with a larger than average yorkshire. Veggies on the side so that anyone that despises cauliflower cheese can avoid it like the plague (thank you). Optional extras and plenty of gravy without having to ask for more.

Desert was sticky toffee pudding with custard and was steaming hot and tasty so all good.

Overall we had a lovely meal in comfortable surroundings attended by lovely people and all at a sensible price. Thanks GPK

I placed a specific order at this butcher on behalf of a friend while speaking to him on the phone, clearly explaining that he needed a piglet’s head, small trotters, ox tail, and a smoked knuckle for a particular dish. I was assured this was understood. When I collected the order, the knuckle had no label, no date, no origin, no best-before, nothing at all — just vacuum-packed plastic. When my friend saw the rest of the order, it was obvious the head was not a piglet’s head but a very large, mature pig, completely unsuitable for the dish, as were the trotters. When I called to raise this issue, the man who served me was extremely rude, spoke over me, contradicted what he had previously told me, refused to listen, and eventually hung up the phone while I was making a complaint. This is unacceptable customer service. There are two men working there — one of them in particular is very disrespectful and unwilling to listen. I would strongly advise customers to be cautious when placing special orders and to get everything confirmed clearly, as this person twists what was said instead of taking responsibility. This was the Askew road store.

Extremely disrespectful staff member. He misled me about the size and age of the product to make it sound more appealing so that I would place an order. I only ordered because of what he told me, but after realising the meat was from a much older animal than described, I called to clarify. Instead of addressing the issue, he denied what he had previously said and gave contradictory explanations before abruptly hanging up on me mid-conversation.

The product was also significantly overpriced for the very poor quality received.

Do not visit this terrible establishment.

Loughton Ginger Pig

Ordered and paid for a turkey. The owner NEVER said this was a deposit payment only. Subsequently, when I went to collect, it was only then that he told me that I had MORE MONEY to pay on the ordered turkey. This is appallingly bad business and underhand and misleading. I was then effectively forced by the Ginger Pig to hand over an extortionate sum of money for a turkey.
The turkey honestly tasted NO BETTER than a bog standard supermarket turkey. Beware of this place, they will rip you off, given half a chance.

I recently celebrated an impromptu BIG Birthday here (actually October 2025) with some family and friends.

The food was amazing but it was the attention to detail and the attentive staff team that makes this venue truly 5Star. I cannot recommend The Ginger Pig warmly enough!!

The most amazing customer service from those manning the instagram account. I live in cleethorpes and my husband and I visited the borough market location during a summer trip to London. Since then he has been obsessed. I bought him the Christmas cook book as an early gift which he’s used to plan our Christmas dinner and I wanted to get him the apron as a surprise gift so that he could wear this whilst cooking it. I went online to order it to find they were sold out. I got in touch with the company via instagram and asked if there was any way I could acquire an apron in time for Christmas. I explained I had friends who live in London who could potentially pick one up from a shop if there were any in store. Nicola quickly checked and found there to be one available in the Shepherd’s Bush store. She then went one step further and arranged for the apron to be moved via the delivery drivers to a shop location more accessible to my friends.
The most incredible customer service and I couldn’t be more grateful. Thank you for saving Christmas ! ⭐️

I hate to be giving the Loughton store 1 star. I have been a ginger pig customer for years. I attended a butchering course in the West End store years ago that was fantastic. My local store was Wanstead but moved and nwt its Loughton.

I used to get my Christmas order there until it got so expensive it became silly. This year Turkeys are seriously ridiculous prices.

Today was the final straw. 2 aged fillet steaks. Should have known better as they were tied with string. £86/kilo seriously? One was pure sinue and inedible, went in the bin.

If you are going to spend top money then you assume the butcher will not rip you off and sell you crap. The butcher would have known when cut and tied it.

Buying fillet? Don’t buy tied up. It’s crap. Watch it cut off the fillet fresh at that price.

Or better still. Go next door to M&S and buy it there. It’s half the price.

I visited the shop in Loughton today wanting to purchase a few slices of lambs liver. Was informed they never have it. I spotted some calves liver which I have never bought before. I asked for just 4 slices during which time was told that calves liver can be expensive but was more than shocked to be charged £25.45 for 0.426 weight. I will never repeat this visit and I feel that had I known the price prior to asking for 4 slices I wouldn't have purchased it.

Recently went in to purchase the Guinness sausages for St Patrick’s day. Please can you make this a regular item to purchase. The guys in. Ginger pig Wanstead are great staff and friendly

If I could leave 0 I would. Rude rude man in Askew Road. No wonder it was empty. Absolutely no manners or customer service or class. First and last time I will go there.

Online ordering fundamentally flawed. Ordered numerous items from their Christmas range delivered as scheduled on 21st December. Most of the produce has a 3 day expiry date, one has only 2 days. Needless to say this will be unfit for consumption and will have to go in the bin. At this price point I expect something that wasn’t packed 4 days before delivery and could last longer than 2 days once received. Very disappointing, their London competitors are much better

Meat always fantastic there steaks are so tender and full of flavour best steaks I have ever had.
I can't find another butcher's that comes close to there quality of meat.
As for there bacon its thick dry cured full of flavour.
Not like so many other butcher's now pumped with water and tasteless.
I'm pleased to say they now do free delivery when you spend over a certain amount well done Ginger Pig. A lot of time effort and packaging has gone into having meat delivered and keeping it at the right temperature.
After opening the box I received it was like opening my fridge and the weather was very hot aswell that day.

I recently placed my first online order and have been very impressed. I had a few queries on a couple of things and Indre could not have been more helpful, getting these sorted very quickly. Great quality products and I will be back!

Been a GP fan for a long time, but don't visit often these days. Yesterday I bought a scotch egg. Not a massive purchase I know, but I was charged £5.75 for item labelled £5.25. When I pointed that out I was told in perfunctory fashion that the label was wrong, as it was whipped away. I wasn't offered a refund, an explanation or an apology. That's rude rubbish service. I won't be back.

BTW. I would not expect to see preservative E221, Flavour enhancer E621, Colour E120 or sulphites in a premium product like this. Not yummy.
