Brooke Castillo is brilliant. I'm so grateful I could spend a year with her in Get Coached.

I absolutely LOVED Brooke's Self-Coaching Scholars/Get Coached. It was the best investment I have ever made in myself. Brooke's skills of coaching and communicating ideas and concepts are brilliant. She changed my life. I joined the last year of GC. Every 1:1 coaching session I had was excellent. The study vault and all the materials were packed with useful and helpful tools to improve my life. I'm looking forward to anything else Brooke releases. Worth every penny.

I got certified during a vulnerable…

I got certified during a vulnerable time which was right after covid, yes years ago, and yes I was lured in by the prospect of the chance to get work on Scholars their coaching network of graduate coaches to recoup the money. And I also cringe and have out of body experiences when I realise how much money I've spent on her program. The price would have allowed me to complete x 2 uk masters degrees plus living costs and how this qualification is worthless, and as others have mentioned should have could have been with an ICF org to at least be employable. Because this qualification does not make your employable in any way, shape, or form. The whole thing turned out to be a s show that I am still paying for today very unfortunately. One would have been way better off doing a degree in cognitive behavioral therapy which is the model she took everything from. signed, unemployable and broke x x

Life-changing, best investment I ever made

I've dated my experience today, but I've been learning from Brooke Castillo and the Life Coach School since 2018. First the podcast, then Self-Coaching Scholars -- then I did Certification and Master Coach Training with the school. If there was a next/higher level, I'd sign up for that too! I find the concepts taught almost miraculous. Once you have them and have learned how to use them properly, you can change, or help yourself in relation to, absolutely any aspect of your life. A lot of people seem to think it's overpriced. I strongly disagree. Why? Because Brooke's teachings, methods, approach and general vibe are just *gazillions of miles better* than anything else on offer in the coaching space. (In my opinion, obviously -- but I've never experienced anything else that's even come close.) Brooke Castillo is a genius, and I feel hugely lucky to have been able to spend all these years learning from her.

Definitely not worth the price

I have much regret and shame for spending (not investing, as I thought) all that money into LCS coach certification. As many other comments explain, you basically access recorded classroom training for 18+K USD along with a number of 1:1 coaching calls of 20mn each; these calls happen with a different coach each time so you don't actually get a continued coaching program with 1 coach. After all the stories of LCS grads 'transforming their lives', I was really hoping for the tools to allow me to do the same, but nothing changed.
I was blindsided by the success of some of their coaches -- including european ones, who're making a lot of money (and not coaching coaches). I was hoping to emulate their success but understand now that their success is not due to the school, but to their previous sucessful careers and great business skills.
And of course - I should have known. I've been very naive, and been abused, including by another coach from the school whom I paid an outrageous amount and got 0 results from to grow my business.
1 thing this very expensive lesson taught me: I'm done buying from high-ticket online coaches. The marketing tactics are diabolically persuasive but pure illusion.

The Life Coach School Exposed: A Masterclass in Deception and Empty Guarantees

I feel compelled to contribute to this conversation, as it’s frustrating to read the praise and justification some have given for Brooke Castillo and The Life Coach School (LCS). For the record, I have no vested interest here—I’m simply sharing my experiences to help others avoid falling into what I believe is a deeply misleading system.

My ex-fiancé earned her certification from LCS about two years ago. As a lawyer (Juris Doctor from UC Hastings), with nearly two decades since I took my last exam, I was excited to support her dream of becoming a life coach. Her belief in the program, the Model, and Brooke Castillo herself was huge—so infectious that I listened to the podcasts and shared her enthusiasm. I believed in her ability to help others and in what the program promised.

Brooke Castillo is, without a doubt, a brilliant marketer. She took something she neither created nor improved, branded it, and promised employment guarantees to those who paid the hefty price tag of over $20k. The Model itself, while valuable, is not of her invention, and she admits this. But here’s the kicker: what you get for that $20k is essentially a collection of her free podcasts (minus the overt displays of wealth and elitism), packaged in a pseudo-academic environment. The guaranteed employment and success she promotes are illusions.

Once my ex-fiancé completed the program—her certification was literally withheld until the final payment cleared—she was abandoned. No job, no guidance, and no follow-up support from LCS or Brooke. The guarantee of employment was meaningless. Brooke doesn’t attend graduations, doesn’t communicate with new coaches, and shows zero interest unless there’s more money to be made.

Despite this, my ex remained determined to make a difference. She developed an app designed to connect new coaches with clients—an elegant and much-needed solution. Brooke was fully aware of this project. I was in the room when they spoke on multiple occasions. Brooke, however, showed no interest in addressing the concerns of struggling coaches or acknowledging her broken promises. Her focus was entirely on herself, her reputation, and her goal to hit $100 million in revenue. When my ex refused to help her spin the negative rhetoric against LCS, all communication was abruptly cut off.

This is not hearsay. These are facts I personally witnessed. I’m not seeking anything in return—there’s no debt to settle, no tuition repayment. I have multiple degrees, including a law degree, and have built a successful career in the legal and business world. I have nothing to gain here other than sharing the truth.

I wrote this because I believe that the Life Coach School, and especially Brooke Castillo, do not deserve the positive words or stars associated with trust and fairness.

Why are you closing your school?

appears that Brooke is closing her school without issuing refunds to those who paid for her program. I have submitted a complaint to the FTC, hoping it will help those affected recover their money. In my experience, the content offered in her $21,000 program was largely a repetition of the material already available for free on her podcast. It is misleading to advertise additional value behind a substantial paywall, encouraging consumers to take on debt, only to deliver content that is essentially the same as what was previously offered at no cost. This approach is deceptive. Now that she is unable to manage the negative reviews, it seems she is shutting down the business and potentially leaving without addressing these issues. A class action lawsuit may be necessary to ensure accountability and provide restitution to those who feel misled. Brooke, you talked a lot about ‘narratives’ on your podcast this month—well, here’s a plot twist for you: this isn’t just my ‘narrative’ anymore; shutting down your school without issuing refunds while dodging ALL criticism looks an awful lot like a scam.

If Brooke Castillo was too busy (on vacation enjoying your hard earned money and bragging about it on her podcast) to show up to your certification graduation at The Life Coach School and you have a $21,000 certification that is useless, let’s take action. If you are interested in pursuing this further, please go to Reddit and search “Life Coach Snark”. I will post this review there with contact info that will begin with “classactionforcastillo”. FYI, I made this email on the domain at proton.me.

LOL at these reviews. Brooke is 5***

LOL after reading some of these reviews I truly had to write my own.

Been listening to Brooke since June 2018. Up until recent years I listened to her daily.

Daily FOR FREE btw. She has an amazing podcast.

I invested in a coach from the school doing weekly 1 hour sessions where I went in depth of the teaching on SCS. Best investment I’ve ever done roughly £500 p/m and I ended up savings thousands during the pandemic because I was feeling my feelings and no spending to avoid them.

Please know you don’t have to do SCS or even the certifications. I personally haven’t come across any life coaches that I would use outside of this school. Why? Folks struggle to hold space for you to feel what you need. Always trying to fix you. Tell you not to feel that way. Here’s a quote. Which quite frankly is like bathing a cat. I’m not saying all. I’m just saying your mind is precious so best to chose the right person for you.

It is not a cult lol even though Brooke does share stories of being in a cult back in the day 🤣.

Grateful for Brooke. Sad the School is ending. But don’t listen to my review or any here. Why don’t you choose an episode from the podcast. A topic you need and you decide for yourself.

I’ve never done the certification, but if I don’t I’d view it as a complete investment in me.

One of the best investments of my life

One of the best investments of my life. Brooke is a revolutionary, and it’s a shame her massive success has brought about the haters that seem to circle like sharks around any woman who is unapologetic and transparent about how much money she earns.

LCS and Get Coached are much more than “just the model” … which alone is so powerful.

The program changed my relationship with my business, parenting, my ex, money, time and goals in general.

10/10 recommend.
Your experience will be what you make of it.

This school overpromises and under…

This school overpromises and under delivers in a major way. First it should not be called a school, but rather an online course with some mild guidance. They charge you $20,000 and then basically leave you on your own. You watch 20+ videos from Brooke and other coaches all about one thing, the model. They also have a non-coaching program and its really expensive, but comparitively cheap and its not much different. I can summarize all you learn in one sentence. Here is what you learn when you are in the "get coached" program: "Everything you don't like in your life is caused by your thoughts and you have to work at changing them in order to feel better enough to want to take action to change your life." Wow revolutionary. How do you change them? They don't really teach much about that, but in short you just kind of do. Next the coaching program will take this lesson one step further, here is what it teaches "listen to people for a long time and then show them how everything they are experiencing is caused by their thoughts so they have to change those in order to have a different result." After 30+ hours of videos on this revolutionary truth I felt no where closer to prepared to help people in real life. Their model is both so simple that you don't need them to learn it and so complex that it really only works for you if you are Brooke Castillo or get to become part of her inner circle enough to become just like her. It feels like that episode of Monk where he joins a cult and ends up curing his OCD just because "the Father" told him to stop wiping his hands. Its like somehow when she talks to you , you feel like it makes sense and you feel empowered. She has that gift, but she does not have the gift of teaching other people to have that skill. Its really the gift of sales and persuasion and she uses it to convince people they can be a coach like her, but her actual program won't empart that knowledge to you. Now I am a good student and a hard worker and I watched every video, did every 1:1 session they offerred which is 20 at 20 min each (just enough time to have someone say well thats your problem ok good luck with that!) and I did the submissions and coach quiz and all that. The submissions are extremely hard to pass because they judge your coaching on their own strange criteria, which feels subjective. Its so nit picky that it almost feels like they just purposefully fail you a number of times to give the illusion that their program is esteemed. I had a wonderful session where my client was crying at the end because they had a breakthrough and I followed every single tip their school gave me, which wasn't much, and I still failed because of one single sentence I said in an hour that they thought "didn't hold enough space" for the client. Its really vauge terms like that which don't actually help you learn to coach. Here are some important things the program will not teach you: Science backed techniques, understanding of the mind, body or anything related to data driven or evidence based practices, trauma therapy, how to find clients, how to find people to practice on while you are just learning, how to start a coaching session and basically anything other than CTFAR. This is not just my opinion, everyone in my cohort that I spoke with agreed that we were overcharged and we all felt confused and unprepared by the program. I am writing this review because if I could go back and tell myself to attend any other school for half the cost I would. My recommendation for the LCS is to sell their coaching program as an online course for $1500, because thats about what its worth. Then charge $1500 to be certified and take the test, this is more in line with what other accredited schools are doing, but I guess since this school isn't accredited or respected in the industry for any corporate work that gives them the freedom to be the most expensive in the world. Expensive does not mean better. Lastly, if you are unsatisfied they will not give you a refund, they will give you the option to quit early and not get certified and forfeit all past and future payments and take away access to the materials that you already paid for and you will be left with nothing to show for your thousands of dollars except the memory and a bitter tastes of regret.

Worth every penny

I’ve been in Scholars for more than one year and I must say that I get tremendous value from every single video.
There are so many different life changing programs there, that only one of those would cost 10x what I pay for a monthly subscription. Brooke is not only a very smart woman but makes complicated concepts very easy to understand. Highly recommend.

Find an ICF coach instead

I’ve found some of the tools The Life Coach School teaches to be helpful so much so I was in their Self-Coaching Scholars program for a year and enjoyed my time there. The problem I have with them is the inflation of how awesome they are, how much their coaches make, and the often very directive “coaching” that’s by ICF standards not coaching at all, but consulting. They don’t allow for anyone to give feedback, and there’s a constant drive to buy more. There are so many other wonderful TRUE coaches with programs that aren’t a constant marketing scheme that put their inflated coaches on a pedestal. Look for an ICF coach instead, and steer clear of this company. It’s not worth the hassle of dealing with their egos and sliminess.

Dear Brooke

Brook- my demand for a refund is driven by two key reasons: it’s both a desperate financial appeal and a call for accountability due to the significant gap between your promises and what I actually received.
Your website’s refund policy states refunds are only possible within seven days of the program’s start. However, I believe a genuine confidence in your product would mean extending this period until after the program’s end. This would allow participants enough time to truly evaluate the program’s impact and make a well-informed decision.
On your podcast, I remember you advising listeners to invest heavily in your product, even suggesting using up credit card limits. Trusting your advice, I followed it, but the program’s outcomes fell short of the marketing promises, leading to my credit card being maxed out and now unusable for a standard refund due to its closure and negative impact on my credit report.

In our direct conversation, I shared the severity of my situation: I’m facing potential homelessness, struggling to keep clients, and might lose my car and be forced to send my beloved dogs to a pound. I’m in a dire situation. I even offered to sign an NDA in exchange for a refund, hoping to use the money to support my Coach Tank initiative and adapt the app I developed for your coaches. This refund is critical for me, a lifeline in my time of need. Yet, even after sharing my distress, my request for help was denied.
About the “Coach Tank” initiative, our conversations made it clear that my submission, despite months of work and significant investment, wasn’t even reviewed. This was confirmed when you admitted to not having seen my project. This oversight, especially considering its advertised significance to certified coaches from your school, is not just disappointing but feels like a betrayal of the promises of the initiative. This has contributed greatly to my urgent need for a full refund as I now face losing my home, car, and possibly my dogs.
Public records from the trademark website show multiple failed attempts to trademark “The Life Coach School.” While I’m not a legal expert, this could be seen as an attempt to monopolize a common term in the life coaching industry, which might raise ethical concerns.
My disappointment is profound. I once held you in high esteem, but this experience has drastically changed my view. The tone and content of your podcasts, focusing on personal luxury, seem out of touch with the challenges many of your clients, including myself, are facing.
Given my extraordinary circumstances, I urge you to modify the refund process to suit my situation. The closure of my credit card account, a direct result of the financial strain from your program, makes the usual refund method unfeasible. I cannot accept a refund through a closed account.
Thus, I’m not just requesting, but insisting, that the refund be made through a direct wire transfer to my bank account. This isn’t a preference but an absolute necessity. The need for an alternative refund method stems directly from the financial repercussions of your program and requires an immediate, unconventional solution.
Prompt action is crucial in this matter.

Safe place to be

The Life Coach School offered two different programs, one is a membership to get coached and learn amazing new tools, the other was a certification to become a Life Coach. I got certified and am part of the membership. It has its price - and for me, it's worth every dollar. What I've learned was mind-blowing and life changing. The coaches are amazing and Brooke is an inspiring teacher who makes complicated concepts easy to understand and apply. I can recommend The Life Coach School 100%.
But it's not for everyone - like no program is for everyone: You need to like self-learning and the style of the founder. If you do - and there is so much free stuff like the podcast - go for it!

Forever Grateful

The life coaching tools I have learned at The Life Coach School have forever changed the course of my life. I was first a member of the monthly program years ago, then became a certified coach through the certification program, and was then hired to work for the school as a coach for the Get Coached/Scholars program. I have worked for the school for 3 years and can say that my life will never be the same - in the most amazing way. I show up differently for myself and for my kids which has lead to greater connection in our relationships. I have gained an increased ability to embrace this human experience more fully - all the parts of it. I feel an overall peace that I couldn't fully access before having these tools. As I have worked for the school I have also had an inside look at the genuine concern that Brooke and others have for the CCP (coach certification program) students and Scholars (members of her monthly program). I have seen so many lives changed for the better. Choosing to use these tools to change my life has been worth every penny that I have chosen to pay for my education through The Life Coach School. I have made sure of it. And for that, I am absolutely and forever grateful.

LCS is the only and best program for me!

I am Life Coach and Master Life Coach Certified with The Life Coach School. After taking courses with several other programs, LCS was my choice as they offered (and continue to offer) an unparalleled learning experience and content.

Becoming a life coach has changed my life. I have a thriving coaching business focused on incredibly clients across the globe.

I owe my success to the exceptional content and tools and how they've helped me help my clients... and also how they've helped me navigate the very real challenges of entrepreneurship. It isn't enough to be a good coach, you must also be willing to become a smart, strategic entrepreneur if you want a thriving coaching business.

Not only did I get resources and tools during my certification, but year after year, Brooke and her team have continued to deliver new content, new coaching resources and expansion of our certified library. I'm blown away by the value offered, even years after completing my program(s).

I am so grateful for my experience with LCS, the coaches and Brooke for their integrity and commitment to our development.

Brooke was the first mentor who gave me…

Brooke was the first mentor who gave me permission to follow my dreams. Someone who allowed me to start dreaming again. Someone who taught me ways to exercise my prefrontal cortex. The school taught me how to feel.

She and her coaches were always there for me when I could trust no one with my thoughts. They were believing in my dreams more than I did.

The Life Coach School has been one place where I spent money without asking for anyones permission. It was the best investment I ever made till date. It has changed me 360 degrees.

As an OBGYN physician, I was limited in ways I could help my patients. But as a Life coach, the MODEL helps me solve almost every problem.

However, the school is not for those who don’t want to take responsibility for their thinking. This is a place where we own what our brain offers and strategically get to our goals with unconditional love.

Excellent coaches

I've been a client of The Life Coach School for about 2 years now. The only options I regularly use are the weekly private coaching sessions and I also listen to the recordings of the group coaching sessions on the private podcast. Why am I still there? Because I get tremendous value.
They are working with excellent coaches who have helped me to not only "survive" a tough time in my marriage, but to grow through the experience and make the relationship with my husband (and myself) so much better and deeper.
It's definitely a five-star experience. Since sometimes there aren't as many private coaching slots available as I'd like to choose from, I'm subtracting one star.

Best Life Coach School Out There!

I joined Self Coaching Scholars (now it's called Get Coached) in March of 2019. I have loved learning how to coach myself. I was able to make some major changes in my life (losing weight, strengthening relationships, setting big goals, etc.) because of The Life Coach School and The Model. I went on to become a certified life coach and later a master certified life coach through The Life Coach School. I loved how the coach certification was set up. It was very supportive and definitely helped me grow and learn. The support I received after being certified is unmatched. I have access to so many more tools and materials than I ever thought I would have. I have friends who have gone through other coach certification programs and they have very little or no support after being certified. The alumni site is great! The coaches in Get Coached help me each week to be more aware of what is going on in my brain and keep me on track in achieving my goals.
