The Make Spot is a friendly studio space for all your sewing needs. Our studio was created around the idea of communal sewing and creativity. We love sewing studios and wanted to offer a space where people can use machines, learn new skills, come to courses and have parties. But, more than that, we wanted it to be friendly, social and fun. That's why we designed the space and the furniture uniquely for The Make Spot. It really does make for a great atmosphere all sitting around one big table working on projects and ideas, or just having a bit of fun hand-sewing for a birthday party. We look forward to welcoming you and hope to share the warm and friendly creative space with you soon. We offer a range of Parties, Classes, Courses, Workshops and Events, all themed around sewing and often tailored to what you like. In addition to learning how to sew, you can drop in and use our advanced and friendly machines by the hour. We also stock a curated range of lovely fabrics, threads and patterns. We love sewing and all things haberdashery, so feel free to call in and say hi and see what we can do for you!

Wonderful experience
Lucy has done some art tutoring for my daughter and has been exceptional, challenging her to see things differently and getting her out of her comfort zone - which is exactly what she needs !
I would absolutely recommend Lucy for anyone that is looking to progress their skills either for examinations or personal enjoyment.

Absolutely amazing
Absolutely amazing! Second lesson in and I’m booking for next term. Lucy is lovely and her knowledge, patience and welcoming nature is just what you need whether you are a beginner or just haven’t sewed in a while! Would highly recommend

I love my weekly sewing lessons with…
I love my weekly sewing lessons with Lucy. I have learnt to much and she is very patient and explains things in a very clear manner. Anyone who is thinking about doing lessons with Lucy won’t be disappointed.

Lucy has amazing patience, I haven’t sewn for years but she takes time to explain things, helps when I need it but also takes the time to build my confidence.
Being part of a small group is great as it’s good for sharing ideas but not overwhelming.

Fantastic!
The make spot is a warm, friendly and inviting place to hone your creative side.
My daughter is doing the young fashionista course and after week one learnt to use a sewing machine!
The courses offered are extensive and great value for money. It’s a fabulous place to spend some time.
Lucy is patient and lovely and will help you to further your knowledge of all things crafty!

A lovely studio, great instruction, relaxed atmosphere
Such a lovely studio set up with small groups which is great so lots of time with Lucy.
I attended an SOS session where I wanted to adjust the sleeve length on a top. It was great - learnt how to deal with a tricky fabric, refreshed my overlocker skills & how to minimise the work. So so helpful, great instruction & a lovely friendly session. Thank you
