I recently completed the 1 week plumbing course, would highly recommend it! I left the week with way more knowledge than I thought I would. Ian was a great teacher lots of practical work involved and extra questions always answered and explained with on the job plumbing knowledge!

Loved that it was mostly hands on great environment for learning and great people to be around

I recently completed a 2-week plumbing course and I couldn’t be more impressed. The course was incredibly well-structured, covering everything from the basics to more advanced techniques. There was a perfect balance between hands-on practical work and theoretical learning, which made the experience both engaging and informative.
One of the standout aspects was the opportunity to ask questions throughout. No matter how big or small, every question was welcomed and thoroughly answered, which really helped deepen my understanding.
Iain, our trainer, was exceptional. He was always on hand to provide guidance, support, and a wealth of knowledge. His approachable and patient teaching style made learning enjoyable and effective. You could tell he genuinely cared about helping each student succeed.
If you're considering a plumbing course, I can't recommend this one enough. It’s a brilliant investment in your skills and confidence!

I completed a 2 weeks plastering course at Trades Training School. Very well taught and the experience and knowledge the team have is incredible.

Instructors were patient and adapted the course to my specific circumstances, allowing me to get the most out of the intensive week. There was a friendly atmosphere throughout from both instructors, staff and other students which facilitated learning and retention of skills learned. My wife and I had a very positive experience, worked hard and would happily go back to do more courses there in the future.

I am a complete novice at plastering but this week long course gave me the basic skills, knowledge and confidence to tackle our project. A big shout out to Antony for his knowledge and patience. Anyone thinking about this course, don’t hesitate or look around Trades Training are definitely worth it. A*****

Very effective and clever about letting you gain the practical skills you need. Good basic explanations (materials, regulations, tools, theory), you then set about installing your a complete bathroom and radiator, testing it, fixing the leaks, with an instructor always on hand if needed. And a great crew.

My journey through the 7-week City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Wall and Floor Tiling at Trades Training School was insightful. As a neurodiverse individual, I occasionally found the course overwhelming, not due to a lack of instruction, but because of my learning style. That said, the overall structure and teaching methods were outstanding.
When I started, I'd never laid a single tile. By the end, I was confidently tiling walls, floors, niches, and more.

The course itself offered:
• Clear Modules: Everything was laid out clearly and logically, covering wall and floor tiling, rendering, screeding, floor preparation (using levelling compounds, decoupling mats, tanking, and underfloor heating), along with essential theory and practical tests. The course packs in a lot of content, and there were also various demonstrations on different aspects of tiling from service companies like BAL.
• Business Insights: Modules on job pricing, marketing, and business setup to prepare you not just to tile, but to start a career in tiling if that's your goal.
• Ongoing Community: I joined the "Tile Junkies" support group and regularly check the chat. It's a fantastic resource where you can get advice from experienced tilers, peers, and tutors, as well as see real-time tiling jobs and the associated problems tilers encounter.

All the instructors were amazing—very patient and knowledgeable. Anthony (Ant) especially stood out. He's an incredibly knowledgeable tiler and an absolute "tiling nerd." I genuinely believe he teaches not for the money, but because he loves it and is deeply passionate about the trade, which shines through in his teaching. His infectious enthusiasm truly helped me stay motivated.

Small class sizes were a huge benefit, making it easy to ask questions and clarify concepts on the spot, especially if stress or sensory overload hit.

There were moments when the course felt a bit "full on." As someone who processes most effectively through hands-on work, repetition, and visual representation, I often needed to take breaks and revisit examples. Thankfully, the instructors never rushed you and were always willing to repeat demos or answer any questions. I didn't explain that I was neurodiverse, as I didn't think it would matter, but in hindsight, it probably would've helped the instructors' sanity 😊

If anyone is considering tiling as a career, or even just wants to tile a wall or floor in their own home, I would absolutely recommend getting in touch with Trades Training. You'll get everything you need there.

I spent four weeks with the team here learning both plastering and plumbing. From start to finish, the experience was incredibly positive. Communication with the team beforehand was excellent, and the introductions were warm and welcoming.

As a complete novice working alongside experienced tradespeople, I really appreciated how the instruction was tailored to suit all levels. Having completed both the plastering and plumbing modules, I now feel far more confident and better prepared to take these skills further if I choose to.

The plumbing course, in particular, was exceptional—covering not only the core curriculum but also answering a wide range of questions beyond the scope of the lessons. One standout feature is the aftercare, which is often overlooked on other courses. That’s not the case here. You gain continued access to training materials and join an active, supportive WhatsApp group connecting you with fellow learners and professionals in both trades.

Overall, it was an outstanding experience, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone considering a hands-on introduction to plastering or plumbing.

I went to trades training after being in the military for 15 years and through their courses I have managed to transition nicely into a new career. The instructors are very friendly and were so informative in all the courses i did with them. A great place to learn new skills and would recommend anyone who is thinking of trying out their courses to definitely go for it.

I recently spent a week doing a plumbing course. I learned so much in one week. Immy was my instructor for the week and I really enjoyed his teaching style and encouragement throughout the week. I was new to plumbing but left feeling confident to tackle the wee jobs id learned about. It was a very friendly and welcoming environment and all the staff made me feel relaxed. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Fantastic instructors, friendly, helpful and patient, a great experience for a complete novice to learn new skills, would recommend to anyone looking to either learn the basics or seeking a career in the building trade. Really enjoyable.

Fantastic course. A lot is covered in six weeks and I grew in confidence as I progressed through the tasks. It's great to have the flexibility to fit the weeks around your personal circumstances. Everyone at trades training is supportive. Lots of laughs and a brilliant atmosphere. Thanks Iain :)

Recently I have completed my diploma level 2 in tiling at trades training school in Edinburgh and can’t say enough how much I enjoyed my time here learning. I’ve been waitressing for many years and wanted a career change. I started from scratch with no background in any trade and the patience all the instructors had with me was tremendous. Immy and Matty are both great instructors always willing to help you out and Anthony will always keep you on your toes, challenging you further with each task. Never a dull day at trades training school! I learned a vast amount of valuable skills throughout this course that I will carry with me confidently into my future career. Theres a wide selection of resources on this course and the facility is a fantastic learning space. I highly recommend this course level for anyone seeking a career change.

Just completed the 2 weeks plumbing course. Fantastic introduction to plumbing as a tiler I've gained some valuable information and skills that I'll be putting to use daily!

The Trades Training School is a fantastic facility with exceptional instructors in each department. I did the Aim qualification in Building Installation and Property Maintenance course which has instilled in me a confidence to tackle small plumbing jobs and some tiling jobs. I will most definitely go back to gain more qualifications in the future. I highly Recommend them.

Excellent course with excellent staff

Trades Training School offers decent courses for those looking to gain new skills or switch careers. Both the plumbing and tiling courses provide hands-on experience, which is helpful for beginners. The instructors are knowledgeable, and there's a supportive environment throughout the learning process. However, while some aspects are commendable, it may not entirely justify the cost for everyone. Overall, it's a solid option to consider if you're looking to venture into trades but manage your expectations.

If you are looking for career change and getting some new skills I couldn’t recommend this school more enough. I’ve had an amazing support after finishing the course while working on my own. Worth every penny.
