Travel The Unknown Avis 

Travel the Unknown arranged a private tour of Albania for 4 of us in May. We had a superb guide/driver who spoke fluent English and understood immediately our interests and requirements. The van was very comfortable. We travelled to the Northern Alps via Shkoder and then drove to Tirana and then to the South via Vlorë, Gkirokaster and Berat. We stopped at the archaeological sites and always had an expert guide arranged for each. I cannot recommend Travel the Unknown more highly- this is our second trip with them with another booked later in the year.

We had an absolutely wonderful holiday and trip in Türkiye.
I want to thank Travel the Unknown for putting it all together for us. We were hosted by friends in Istanbul then TTU coordinated a tailor made trip for us. It all went seamlessly with just one small hiccup.
The hotels were great - the MDC hotel in Cappadocia exceeding all expectations.
Our private driver was great and our guides were fun, had great energy, were well informed and knowledgeable.
The transfers for flights and pick ups were seamless.
The food was excellent!
The weather was perfect for sightseeing and exploring.
The Ramada Encore Wyndham Artnekutvoy hotel apparently has its own airport transfer 40 euros round trip. If this had been arranged we would have avoided an angry taxi driver taking us to the wrong Ramada hotel late at night and us having to pay for a second hotel.
Still it was one of the best holidays we have experienced.

I wanted to have a great time with my Irish friends in Turkey (my home country) with a tour company they thought they could trust. I did not get a service worth the price. I never felt a wholesome connection with the organization from the moment of welcome to the moment of goodbye. Having guides and drivers change, and being left alone in the mountains for a whole night before departure where there is not even proper medical care in case of health issues, or appropriate law enforcement, my experience was all about not being carefully contained by the company and service. I feel deeply disappointed. We all finished this tour with a bad taste in our mouths. Plus it appeared they can not respond well to feedback. However the route was well planned and the guides were knowledgable. Beautiful places we have seen. I wish I could remember it this way.

We have just returned from a fantastic trip to Uganda, organised by Travel the Unknown. They really nailed it. A brilliant trip. Thank you too Rahul and Chiara.

A fantastic tour of stunning Kerala. Rahul gave us great advice and guidance on a tour which would suit our preferences. We had so many rich experiences, all given added depth by the high quality guides we had. The drivers were safe, and the cars luxurious, complete with ice box of drinks and snacks. The hotels selected were all good quality, a couple were outstanding and some of the best I've ever stayed in. The organisation was perfect - everything went without a hitch, and is was a joy to be free of the anxiety about transport/hotel bookings you get when you travel independently. I will definitely return to TTU for future travel plans

The best safari I have ever had, because Uganda has such diversity of animals, and walking safaris instead being in a jeep all the time, was humbling and beautiful!

I can't say enough good things about our trip to India! My husband and I visited Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, and Varanasi, and we enjoyed every minute of our trip. Our guides were so knowledgeable and enriched every site visit. Our itinerary was packed with so many cultural and historical highlights, and we had comfortable hotels to return to at the end of each day.

The trip planning process was so smooth. Chiara was responsive and thorough, worked with our timeframe and budget, and provided so many helpful resources to help us get the most out of our trip. From planning to during the trip, every point of contact with the Travel the Unknown team and their local partners in India was overwhelmingly positive!

Trip to Ecuador and Galapagos Islands. We had great customer service from Travel the Unknown with an itinerary very much tailored to our interests. All elements of the trip were well organised & catered for so we had very little to worry about. Communication & pre-travel information was excellent

We have just returned from a trip to India touring the golden triangle. We spent 2 wonderful weeks seeing not only the beautiful cities and monuments but the fantastic and varied wildlife from Sarus cranes to Tigers and elephants, civit cats and jungle cats to kingfishers all with expert and enthusiastic guides and great hotels.
The agent Krishna was so helpful and thoughtful, we were given a phone to use to enable easy contact and nothing was too much trouble. Food was delicious and we enjoyed the cooking lesson and block printing. Definitely recommend

Very memorable first trip to Uzbekistan. We had a tailor made trip for 2 with a wonderful guide for 10 days travelling all across the country. Through this time we had a good balance of guide led tours and free time to explore. The booking experience with Travel The Unknown was one of the best I have had - easy to deal with and accommodating. Trip went without a hitch and the local travel manager met us at the end to check everything went smoothly. Highly recommend TTU.

I've just returned from the Hornbill Festival and Living Bridges with Travel the Unknown. It was an explosion of colour and tribal history. We were lucky to meet elderly Headhunters from the Konyak tribe in Mon, Nagaland. The tribe borders India and Burma straddling the Konyak Chief's home. He sleeps in Burma and eats in India. They were one of the many tribes we witnessed displaying their song and dance at the Hornbill Festival at historic Kohima. I added Living Bridges where tribes trained the roots of Indian Rubber Trees to grow over the river. Our guide took us to Umkar Living Root Bridge in Siej, it's the only one in original state without planks over the roots for ease of tourists to cross. It was a great experience. And Travel the Unknown have been offering this trip for many years so are aware of the distances and conditions of the roads and offer an itinerary to suit. I highly recommend this trip.

Rahul is a master tour planner and organizer. He was available before and during the tour to answer questions and trouble shoot. Can't say enough good things about Travel the Unknown. Excellent support staff and local tour guides. Hotels, restaurants and accommodations were excellent. It was my first tour with Rahul (to Turkey) but definitely more to come!

Travel The Unknown arranged a private tour for us to Bangladesh and Bhutan from which we have recently returned. Rahul and Chiara communicated with us so well from the very outset and put together an itinerary exactly to our requirements. The organisation while we were away was impressive and always timely. We were looked after by excellent guides throughout our stay. I would not hesitate to recommend Travel The Unknown to anybody and we will certainly use their brilliant services again in the future.

We have traveled with Travel the Unknown several times (Eastern Turkey, the 'Stans, Ethiopia, Oman) and have always been fully satisfied. Rahul and his staff are knowledgeable, responsive and flexible. Our questions were always answered right away. Their itineraries are thoughtful and often unavailable from other companies. We will certainly travel with them again.

I went on the Eastern Anatolia Archaeology Tour with TTU. It covered wonderful sites including Goebekli Tepe, Karahan Tepe, Chatal Hoyuk, Hattusha, Mt. Nemrut and many other Roman Era sites and Cappadochia too. This was a memorable experience, embellished by amazing food, excellent choice of accommodation, professional guides, excellent drivers, all bundled together in a thoroughly professional manner. I'd recommend this unusual and out of the ordinary tour to one and all. No other agency does a tour like this one.

Great trip, made even better by the expertise of our driver/guide Derrick his local knowledge was invaluable.
The wildlife sightings were incredible the wildlife highlights were the white Rhinos, tree climbing Lions, Leopards, Chimpanzees in Kibali, mountain Gorillas in Bwindi, hippos, crocodiles and the big five!
The accommodation was good and so was the catering.
If I had a slight criticism it would be two days of solid driving, I appreciate we have to travel but the distances on these two days was grueling, a small adjustment to schedule would really help in this instance. Although overall this was still a great trip.

Just arrived back from Travel the Unkown - Ultimate Uganda tour. The itinerary was comprehensive and indeed showcased Uganda - The Pearl of Africa.
Visiting Ziwa Rhino sanctuary, Murchison Falls and National Park, Kibali National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park,Bwindi and Lake Majuro.
The tour was well organised and our excellent/capable local guide ensured the tour ran smoothly.
The wildlife highlights were the white Rhinos, tree climbing Lions, Leopards, Chimpanzees in Kibali, mountain Gorillas in Bwindi, hippos, crocodiles and much more. The bird life was also incredible seeing many species. We also visited some local communities.
The lodges were of good standard along with the food.
It was a very enjoyable and interesting tour.

Travel the Unknown had a very difficult task with us - organising a last minute trip to Georgia over the August bank holiday weekend . Not only did Rahul and his colleagues make themselves available during that time, Rahul tuned into our requests and produced a fantastic trip that we will always remember. We (very) highly recommend them, the great team they put together for us in Georgia (guide and driver) and visiting the Republic of Georgia.
