Travel The Unknown Avis 

There have been so many highlights on the 15-day trip to Colombia: the Salt Cathedral in Zipaquira, Colonial towns of Villa de Leyva and Cartagena, learning about the coffee culture, the wonderfully crazy Carnaval de Negros Y Blancos at Pasto are just a few to name. The guides are friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to introduce us to the local culture, making this one of the most memorable holidays I've done.

Travel the Unknown has planned four unique and tailormade trips for us over the past three years- two in India, Sri Lanka and Cuba. Their knowledge of the locations, their tips for discovering the hidden gems which we all appreciate as intrepid travelers set them apart. The trips were priced to meet our needs and they are attentive to any questions or concerns.

A marvellous trip in all respects. Well organised, charming and knowledgable guide and driver and some wonderful sights to see. Above all, the Iranian people are so friendly and we felt very relaxed travelling in their country.

We've travelled with Travel the Unknown twice: to Ethiopia and to the Balkans. In both instances, we experienced efficiency, professionalism and quick responses to queries from Rahul and Jonathan. The local agents in each destination were likewise well selected for their expertise. We felt we were in good hands throughout, and were able to enjoy our holiday exploration without a worry. In Ethiopia, we felt we were in good hands with Endex our guide and Gabre our driver, even in remote areas. In the Balkans, historically a region rife with internecine suspicion, TTU's local guide was Dimitar, who provided us with objectivity, presenting viewpoints from differing angles. On our return from both tours, Rahul and Jonathan followed up respectively to evaluate the trip. We would definitely recommend travelling with Travel the Unknown.

A very well organised trip to Iran, with an excellent guide. Iran is much safer than parts of London or New York. The sites, landscape and buildings are wonderful, the people dignified and welcoming. Everybody should go.

Selecting Travel the Unknown for travel in Eastern Turkey was one of the best travel choices I've ever made. Our guide was engaging, informed and informative, considerate, respectful, kind, and treated us like intelligent adults. And what a wonderful itinerary. I had toured Western Turkey with another company a couple years before, and that was very good indeed, but Travel the Unknown was simply outstanding...perhaps most especially because the itinerary was more adventuresome. If you like a deeper experience of Turkish culture, Travel the Unknown is for you. Seeing Gobekli Teppe was my initial reason for going on this trip, but seeing Mt. Nemrut at sunrise was breathtaking. The ruins of the ancient Silk Road city of Ani, ancient Armenian Christian churches and monasteries, the cheese in Kars, spontaneously being included in a wedding celebration, Mardin, Lake Van, mosques and madaris, Haran, and stunning Roman mosaics were all part of the magic of this trip arranged by Travel the Unknown. I look forward to going again with Travel the Unknown.

The organisation was superb. All detail had been considered. Good value too.

Our recent rip to Iran was an extraordinary experience. The itinerary was well researched, the small group very manageable, the hotels first class and the local guides very knowledgeable and personable. Also the price was very competitive. I can recommend Travel The Unknown to any traveler.

I have been sharing the wonderful trip we had in Cuba with Travel the Unknown. All accommodations were good if not outstanding, gave us a chance to talk with the hosts who were most welcoming, guide and drivers considerate, knowledgeable and willing to share and discuss, time to explore on our own with their or hosts.

I have traveled twice with Travel the Unknown, once on a regular tour and once on a Tailor Made tour. Not only were the tours very well run, but the office staff at TTU was always available to answer questions and give any
assistance needed. I am planning to travel with them again in the future.

We had a very well planned and thought out trip to Cuba that was fully and completely flexible to meet our needs. On a moment, we could spend more or less time somewhere or eliminate it altogether. We had an amazing experience and the team was awesome

I have taken 2 trips with Travel the Unknown. I went to Eastern Turkey for 2 weeks on a group tour and to Croatia on a custom tour with my husband. My top priority is the quality of the guide and in both cases, the guide was excellent--knowledgeable and fun. Both added immensely to our enjoyment of the area. The itineraries hit all the spots we wanted to see. I live in the US and pre-trip communications were always prompt. All questions (and there were many) were patiently and thoroughly answered. I also like that their group tours do not take more than 12 people and in fact, there were only 4 on our group tour. While hotels are not a priority of mine (except clean and safe), all accommodations were fine and in good locations. I would definitely travel with them again.

A wonderfully put together tour. David couldn't have been more helpful and was happy to tailor make our trip taking in all the places we wanted to visit.
Once in Colombia, the hotels and guest houses were varied and excellent and the guides very knowledgable.

"I have returned from a very comprehensive tour of Iran with 'Travel the Unknown'in late spring 2016. I was determined to take the opportunity to visit Iran and given the bad press from the media I was a little concerned if all was to go well. ALL of my fears were dispelled from the totally issue free booking and Visa process prior to departure, very close and accurate communication from operations staff to the wonderful reception we received in Iran wherever we went, locals smiling and wishing us well! Wanting photos with us and generally showing immense hospitality. Then of course there were the sites, which for their historic value were in spring, and brought to life by the comprehensive, in depth knowledge of our tour guide. Enjoyed the whole experience and am now faced with the mountain task of editing down my photos, which will also give me the chance to relive the experience again - day by day. I was thoroughly impressed with the service from Travel the Unknown both in UK and locally in Iran. All that was required from me was to pay, turn up and relax!

I booked with Travel the Unknown because I wanted to go to a part of India - Ladakh and Kashmir - the run of the mill companies don't go to. Pre travel organisation, documents and information were excellent.
Once in India, the guides both in Kashmir and Ladakh were first class. Hotels excellent. The driver we had was amazing -the roads are 'interesting'.

We were delighted with our trip to Ethiopia. The itinerary was tailored expertly to meet our wishes. Our drivers and guides were excellent; they were attentive to our needs but sensitive enough to know when to leave us alone. We felt safe, informed and comfortable at all times. Local guides were used where appropriate and they were of such a high quality it felt that they had been "hand-picked". Our trip included a 4/5 day adventure to the Afar region including a trek up the Erte Ale volcano and a visit to the Danakil depression. This was one of the most exciting and intrepid of our many travel experiences, despite the relatively inhospitable climate and terrain and the basic nature of the accommodation. The landscape was truly spectacular and our memories of it will live long.

Travel the Unknown organised an excellent holiday in Iran for us. All the arrangements went very smoothly, and our guide and driver were first class. Our itinerary enabled us to see wonderful things including Persepolis, Isfahan and Yazd, and to experience a little bit of Iranian life with a three night homestay in the spectacular mountains NW of Teheran.
