Turbotax Avis 

I have used Turbo tax since 2014 tax year without memorable issues. But for the 2025 tax year, the software was mixed-up mess. I ended up having to file ink-on-paper return.. The IRS told me my capital gains were calculated incorrectly and that Schedule A (itemized charitable deductions) was incomplete, so the IRS used the standard deduction instead and I owed $6000 more in taxes plus interest. I could contest it but I cannot find my long-form full return on Turbo Tax. I spent hours on the return, paid $150.42 plus $5 tax expert fee to ask a question, two useless calls to customer support. They have lost me as a customer.

I paid extra for the "Accurate Calculations and 100% Accurate, Expert Approved Guarantees" and its a joke because I needed a tax professional to help me with the solar energy tax credit part of my taxes. Thank goodness my iPhone had the ability to records. The agent fumbled around with that portion of my 2023 taxes for four hours and I had 2% confidence she knew what she was doing. Turbotax online and this agent cost me a $5700 tax lien. There's no accountability, I asked the office of the presidents tax professional if she wanted to send her the recording, she said no need; they'd do there own investigation. And of course there investigation found no wrong doing. BUYER BEWARE!

Thought I was free not one third of my refund for services I don’t use or needed

The checkout process was confusing and showed two different totals ($44 and $118) at the same time. I believed I was proceeding with the lower amount, but I was charged $118 including services like Expert Assist that I did not knowingly select.

I did not use any expert services and did not file my tax return through TurboTax. My refund request was denied despite this.

Be careful and review the final charges closely before paying.

How dare you charge me almost 100 usd to file my taxes! i will learn to do them on my own!

dont do taxes with these guys online.. they charged me 150$ to file unbelievable

I bought the software for Turbotax (not the online subscription version) and installed it. When I went to open it, it said it would not work with my OS version. I called TurboTax and the rep said as a work around, could I borrow someones computer or go to their house to use their's for a few days. Yes, I would love to have all my tax info on someone else's computer - NO WAY. Or I could buy a new computer. I hate that companies will change their software so it doesn't work any longer. It's all a shell game with companies wanting you to get new computers or use their monthly online subscription, which this would be and I'm so sick and tired of it.

BTW, I have an older 27" iMac a size Apple doesn't make any longer. My OS is the latest that will work on this computer so I can't update it. Apple makes great computers so they last for years but their software doesn't update for the older computers. They did away with the 27" iMacs to make you buy their much, much more expensive system if you need a larger screen like I do for graphic work.

They sell a plan with expert advice, but then you cannot make an appointment for advice - it says Whoops, we're too busy. I'll need to log back in at 5 AM to get in line again. I wouldn't need extra advice if it wasn't saying that I owe 3x the tax I actually owe after going through the return with an expert that I waited more than an hour to talk with. I caught the error only after hanging up.

I have used Turbo Tax for years with few problems.I always purchased the product from retailers.This year I tried the free version as I always file the simple form. As I progressed thru the information the program advised I could not use the free version due to the amount of interest earned. This occurred twice and the final cost ended up being almost $200. Needless to say I was ripped off and will not be using Turbo Tax again.
