Uber Carshare Avis 266

It was a nice experience using Uber Carshare from booking to picking the van up at a convenient location. I was able to view the vans that were close to my home & pick something that suited my needs. The price was reasonable, it costed a little extra as it was my first time using the service. The car was just as described & I was able to do everything that I needed. The only issue was that the fuel tank wasn’t full & I wasn’t sure who to contact. I took photos of the fuel gauge before I used the van & after filling up at the service station & dropping the became back. It was easier than hiring a van from the regular companies & it was more convenient as I could pick it up from a location just around the corner from where I live. Nice experience overall… Just waiting for the refund now, that may be another experience I am awaiting…

Very easy process

Booked for first time, created account and validation process approved.
Went to log into apo for key pickup details, password not accepted (same pasword I use at work, so not 1 I would forget). Failed multiple times until 'too many attempts. Reset pasword message,.
Followed the process to reset password, recieved email link, just kept taking back to login page. Tried this 3 seperate links.
Went to help centre, not a single response from the automated chat in over an hour.

I could not unlock the car using my phone after I have parked the car.

Helpful option! Was in need of a vehicle for work asap and was able to sign up and have one in the area in no time.

A new era in car rental, where you don't have to deal with car rental companies directly. It is very convenient to be able to rent a car in any city directly from the owners. The car was clean and drives well. Free from any fault.

There was a glitch in the app regarding booking times. I had to call the car owner to sort it out.
The photo function has the camera upside down when I try to take landscape photos to fit the entire car in frame.

Better than some other hire companies, convenient!

This is great app. Very easy to use. Highly recommended.

The principle of the application is great! Very practical to share your car. On the other hand, the application is a disaster... nothing works. You can't log in, and then you can't access the route map to pick up your car. Too bad you can't do everything from the website, which works fine.

The process to take a photo of myself was not easy and took a long time to get my face exactly where the app wanted it. The instructions for collection the car came less than the 15 minutes prior to pick-up as stated.
Otherwise the app was easy to use, from selecting the car, making the booking, updating the booking and returning the car.

The helpful lady from the chat, called ke and was super percent and slowly resolved the process with me step by step. The wqe impeccable and completely put all my stresses to rest. Unfortunately it took over 6 hours and 4 different points of contact with other people before I luckily landed her.

The headlights started to flicker in and off, maybe just the left side, along my return if the vehicle.

But that aside, I was very pleased with the prices and once verified, the system too.

DO NOT USE UBER CAR SHARE - SCAM ARTISTS TRYING TO BLEED YOU DRY.

We picked up an extremely run down car on Uber Car Share - broken mirror, damaged panels etc clearly had been in a crash before.

We noticed after a day of driving that the oil tank was leaking, so we needed to arrange a mechanic to pick the car up. Contacted Uber Car Share and they told us to leave the car with the mechanic, and not to worry. They could not get hold of the car owner, and we personally messaged the car owner and he would not respond. We asked if we should wait with the car to get repaired and drive it back to Syndey (we are about 250km away), and Uber said to leave the car.

10 days pass and Uber closes the case because they had not heard from the owner.

3 weeks later and they open the case back up because the owner got back in touch - then they tell us that they are charging us $1300 for the car repair and a $700 "unable to use" fee for the owner, when he was the one who did not respond to Uber even though they managed to contact his brother, had messages from us, messages from Uber and he CHOSE not to respond, which it says in Uber's policy the charge won't be made when the delay is caused by the owner.

That brings us to today - the case was paused whilst Uber investigates our challenge to this $700 fee. Today we received an email that charged $2700 - in the process of challenging the fee they have added on $1400?!

$800 for a tow fee, even though we were TOLD to not get the repair done ourselves and leave the car. and a mystery $500 panel damage?! When we were given a car with broken panels and a smashed mirror. Customer care had also told us that previous renters complained about the damage to the car, and now they are trying to make us pay for old damage?! We followed process and uploaded images of these damages.

Now we do not know what we can do as every time we challenge the costs more money is being added to the cost out of nowhere?!

DO NOT USE UBER CAR SHARE IT IS NOT SAFE TO DO SO.

Cheaper than your usual Car Hire and a lot of local options. App is easy to navigate and the pick up and return handover of the car is hassle free.
