It was a bit hard to make sure everything was done. For instance, I didn’t know I needed interior photos. A checklist outside the actual trip would be good
I returned the car 30 minutes early and…
I returned the car 30 minutes early and got charged a whole day car rental fee for that. This appears as “unused time”. No prompt appeared while returning the car that I will get charged for that. When I raised this issue to their support, she was looking for other reasons why the charge was valid such as I changed the booking time, but shouldn’t that appear as “rebooking fee” and likewise, a prompt should appear while rebooking.
Car next door was a lot better and flexible. Go to competitors: goget, turo, etc. I might find better service, terms and conditions.
Application doesn’t work good
Application doesn’t work good. When I try to return the car, I was not able to open “Trips” section. I had to wait around 30 minutes also I tried to reach customer service but they were not available. Due to that I had to pay more money because I was late.
DO NOT USE UBERCARSHARE
I started using Ubercarshare to save money when hiring a car, but instead, I have lost approximately over $5,000. You are better off going with real car rental companies, as they are not misleading, malicious, or abusive.
IF I COULD RATE A 0 I would.
Ubercarshare is big on pushing their policy against you, but when you push back they get aggressive and treat you like your in the wrong.
Here is what I have had to deal with so far:
Sat,11 June 2022 08:00: Hired a 2007 Suzuki Liana Sport - Car was not in location and I was left stranded for an hour before I could get to another car, which I had to pay more for, including the Uber to get to/from the new car I had to hire.
Sun, 9 October, 2022: Hired a 2012 Honda Jazz VTi was cancelled by the Owner on the day and again left me stranded and cost more money in Ubers to get to the next car and upgrades for the new car at my expense.
Sat, 29 October, 2022 09:30: Hired a 2003 Renault Megane Privilege convertible broke when the owner was showing me how to open and close the roof; she then accused me of breaking it and got some man to chase me down the street to stop me from leaving. I called Ubercarshare and was also accused by them for breaking the convertible even though I had not left the place the car was located to pick it up, it was her showing me how to use it, and I was being chased for allegedly breaking it. Again I was left out of pocket, to upgrade to another car again and catch Ubers to the next car location, mortified and scared to use you again.
I than thought to give them another chance
Fri, 4 November, 2022 08:00: Hired a 2014 Toyota Corolla was cancelled when I arrived at the car to pick it up - There were no keys for the car, I was left stranded for an hour before I got another car, which I had to pay more for, including the Ubers.
Fri, 22 Sep 12:00 Hired a 2006 Holden Rodeo - The car's clutch gave way and I was left stranded 10 minutes into the booking, I was then left on my own to deal with the repercussions and arrange a tow truck, although this car should not have been on the road. I was just at the beginning of moving house and had to delay my move as we could not get another car until late at night, which again cost us more in the bookings and Ubers.
Roadside assistance stated that it should not be on the road.
Ubercarshare again accused me of breaking the car. Although I Have evidence of the owner covering black stickers over the check engine light and other warning lights. One of the clauses in their cover concerns check engine and warning lights. This is another great example of a leaser being dangerous and risking other people's lives, as well as the distrust Ubercarshare has created by allowing dodgy lenders on its platform.
Now, moving on to my recent experience.
Sat, 10 Feb 07:00 Hired a 2011 Volkswagen Golf: There was a small scratch left on the front bumper of the car and a month later Ubercarshare send me a $1995 bill that they demanded Im to pay in 4 days or we can mediate but need to resolve by the 10th day or they will automatically charge my card.
I outlined my entire experience above and noted that Ubercarshare has been aware of this scratch for a month and not once communicated this with me. After reviewing their policy, which, by the way, the wording” basic cover” does not actually refer to insurance cover, I found a lot of misleading information and that, in fact, they have broken many of these. They then responded (Aprox 10pm on the 10th day of mediation) to make it difficult for me to continue conversations. I have now raised with the Ombudsman, ACCC and the Australian Insuarnce Commissioner.
Out of 13 hired cars, I have had 6 issues, leaving me with a high complaint ratio of around 40% and over, and I have been trying to cancel my account without success.
The malicious and intentional behaviour from Ubercarshare and car owners make it difficult to discuss complaints and concerns with them directly, and policies on coverage need to change as they are not insurance policies. I’m creating a portfolio of complaints and trying to push for this to happen. If you have anything that can help me, please email businesscomplaints5 @ gmail.com

It was a great experience to be able to have a car rented by Uber, since I was able to travel with my family to nearby places. The comfort made the trip enjoyable.

Carnextdoor is stealing my money
Carnextdoor was great, Ubercarshare has gone to the dogs. They keep charging my credit cards, even though I don't have an account anymore. I haven't in months. They are genuinely stealing my money. They've also refused to collect the lockbox and tracker, despite me having no idea how to remove the tracker. They're telling me they'll charge me over $500 if I fail to comply, comply with what? Worst experience possible. Do not trust this platform!

Uber transformed a good company, "Car Next Door" into a horrible company. Everything takes ages, the employees do not know and do not follow the member agreement, everything takes ages to be solved.
