We rented an apartment from this company. The rental process was quick. Brigitte showed us the apartments. She is a very kind person. We had no problems with our apartment during our stay. Any issues in the building were also resolved quickly. I recommend them.

Don't walk, RUN!
I have been living in their Leiden location for around 6 months. Let me list a couple things that went wrong in that time frame:
The communication to get the contract was slow and stressful, they expected me to respond within 24 hours yet they did not respond for days at a time
Had to pay 250 euros in cash in additon to the deposit for unknown reasons (they claim they are only following instructions of the owner)
Cockroach infestation
Bedbug infestation (in some rooms they are in the walls)
Mice (due to one of the doors being broken our trash was not taken giving them plenty of food)
The heating keeps breaking down (no heating nor hot water), sometimes it doesn't get fixed for days
The doors keep getting broken (currently it hasn't been fixed for almost a month despite emails and more than one employee of VDH, such as our house keeper reporting the problem themselves)
They seem apologetic in their responses here however, it is just a facade.

With regard to communication, we always strive to respond to everyone as promptly as possible. During holiday periods, however, staffing levels may be lower than usual, which can unfortunately result in longer response times. We nevertheless do our utmost to assist everyone as quickly as possible.
The additional €250 cash payment you mention was not an unknown or unexpected charge. These letting costs are clearly stated and explained in the brochure available on our website, including the accompanying disclaimer. Prospective tenants are therefore able to review this information before entering into the tenancy agreement.
Regarding the pest issues, we would like to emphasise that reports of cockroaches and bed bugs are always taken seriously. Professional pest control measures were arranged as soon as these issues were reported. Unfortunately, in buildings where many people live in close proximity, pests such as bed bugs can be particularly difficult to eradicate completely and often require multiple treatments. The way shared facilities are used and maintained can also have an impact on the effectiveness of pest control.
With regard to your comments about the heating, hot water and the broken door, we are unable to determine from this review which reports you are referring to. We would be happy to respond in more detail if we are able to identify the specific maintenance requests.
We are sorry that you feel our responses are merely a façade. We genuinely aim to treat every report seriously and to take appropriate action whenever necessary. Despite your negative experience, we wish you all the best in your future accommodation.

Eindinspectie net met Brigitte, wat een geweldige vrouw. Echt heel fijn contact mee gehad altijd. Het onderhoud bij van der Huizen kan daar nog wat van leren!

Day 7 still no heating no hot water.
Two days ago contacting office people they promised to send someone. So someone came removed pipes left without fixing a problem and full floor of water, yesterday contacted again manager Vlad promised that today will definitely will come to fix another handyman no one showed up. Yesterday already wasn't answering phone calls today not even replaying to emails.

Ik heb een woning kunnen krijgen in Breda m’n eerste woning. ik ervaar het heel goed eerste bezichtiging en gelijk gekozen ik sta er nog steeds van te kijken! De ervaring met de huurmakelaar Brigitte was heel prettig in omgang . Nu m’n sleutels gekregen. Heel blij mee!

Complete scam company
Complete scam company. Prepare yourself for cockroaches, bed bugs, no warm water or any basic hygiene whatsoever. If you experience any problems in your room, VDH will not help you and matter of fact blame it on you. They are only after desperate student’s money and blatanly taking advantage of the housing crisis. Also known for not returning deposits. In conclusion, save your money and mental health and skip any housing by VDH!

Veel jaren met plezier in het appartement gewoond. Als er contact was was dat altijd met Brigitte als vast gezicht. Vandaag ook weer een fijne ervaring met de eindinspectie en de sleuteloverdracht.

Fijne eindinspectie met Brigitte, ze communiceert open over het process.
Na 8 weken heb ik mijn borg zoals beschreven in mijn contract niet terug gehad. Dit is de zoveelste afspraak die niet wordt opgevolgd door de huisbaas.

Het spijt ons dat u teleurgesteld bent over de afhandeling van de borg. De terugbetaling vindt plaats nadat de eindinspectie is verwerkt en eventuele openstaande posten zijn gecontroleerd. Hoewel wij ernaar streven de borg binnen de in de huurovereenkomst genoemde termijn terug te betalen, kan de afhandeling in sommige gevallen meer tijd vergen.
