Evil company leveraging your pet for money…

If you want great comedy call up this company and ask them if they are backed by private equity and they'll say "I can't answer that" and direct you to a complaints email. I asked the complaints email person three separate times to confirm that its backed by private equity and they refused to answer (despite it being true)...all three times, basically redirecting me to companies house. One of the more corrupt companies in the most despicably moral corrupt industries leveraging my dogs deterioration for profit. £800 for my dog to stay at a vet for a day and get some fluids, 1 blood test and a couple boxes of medicine that probably cost £30. Do yourself a favour and find an independent vet...alittle cheaper, but at least the sliver of profit goes into someones pockets who cares about animals. BC Partners is the name of the private equity group...they also invest heavily in food and healthcare so when they jack up Rex's consultation costs you can stop off on the way home and pay triple for chemical-laden strawberries and then pay quadruple for your OTC medicine. They are really missing a trick by not getting into housing to jack up rents!!!! Stay away from this company if you care about ethics.

'Non Resident' visits could cost you more !

My dog developed a 'hot spot' and I rang Oakhill vets Ambleside to seek an appointment to shave the area and obtain some Isaderm medication. I was on holiday nr. Ambleside at the time and not close to my regular vets and unfortunately had not brought with me any clippers/treatment to remedy the condition. I selected Oakhill as it was the closest vet to where I was staying and I was not familiar with other practices in the area. Although a simple fix of shave, clean and rub on prescribed cream, the 'hot spot' can escalate quickly and therefore I arranged to see the vet at the next available appointment. All went well with booking the appointment and just before closing the call I asked how much the consultation fee would be ... a figure of c£87.50 was quoted. I thought that appeared expensive, and perhaps I had misheard, therefore checked the company website to see that the consultation fee quoted is £57.50. To my detriment, I didn't ring back to query as I was focussed on resolving the issue with my dog.
Following the appointment, shaving of the affected area, obtaining the prescribed Isaderm and a small bottle of Hibiscrub, the bill presented was £146.89. Questioning the cost breakdown I was advised that Oakhill charge a £30 'Non Resident Fee' in addition to the consultation fee to obtain notes from my vets and complete a temporary registration. Additionally, the cost of the prescribed medication was also higher than what I was used to paying at my own vets.
Unfortunately, whilst the visit to this practice covered what was required to treat my dog, it has left me feeling that Oakhill are unfortunately using the misfortunes of visiting animals to their area to enhance income and justify the cost by 'additional administration'. Obtaining existing records may be a requirement when visiting a new vets on a temporary basis, however surely the majority of work is from my own vets providing the records and what should the cost of basic medication be so different?
In reality, the vet met, treated (shaved small area of fur, cleaned with Hibiscrub) and prescribed exactly what I had asked for on my initial call without the need for any past medical records.
As an aside my own vets, charged less that £100 for the exact same procedure less that 2mths ago, so if your pet unfortunately requires the services of a vet in Ambleside area, and you are a 'non resident' ... prepare yourself for what may follow.
For the record, I did contact the practice to explain my views and advise they need to be more transparent. I was directed to an area within their website indicating additional charges for non residents and temporary registration although to my detriment I did not find this upon my initial view. Unfortunately the overall response has done little to change my opinion.

Formal complaint ignored without acknowledgement

I submitted a formal complaint to VetPartners regarding serious concerns with one of their veterinary practices and received no response at all — not even a basic acknowledgement.

For a company responsible for overseeing veterinary practices and client care standards, this complete lack of engagement is unacceptable. A formal complaint should, at minimum, be acknowledged and reviewed. Instead, it was simply ignored.

This gave the clear impression that once an issue is escalated beyond the individual practice level, VetPartners have no interest in engaging with the client or addressing the concern.

I have been a long-standing customer of the practice involved and have spent thousands of pounds there over the years. The total absence of any response from VetPartners ultimately influenced my decision to move both of my dogs to another veterinary provider.

If VetPartners position themselves as responsible for client care and practice oversight, they should be prepared to respond when clients raise formal complaints. Based on my experience, they do not.

Since joining the Vetpartners group our costs have gone through the roof!!

Since joining the Vetpartners group our local vets are worrying more about prices than pets. DISGUSTING.This bubble has to burst. I am at the point of taking this to appeal at the ECHR because it is now clear that something major needs to be done right away, if not, then only the very rich will be able to afford a pet of any description. I read stories of heartbreak from others in the same position. I see rescues taking on pets not from neglect but from being unable to afford vet treatment. This is no longer the caring profession in my opinion, at least not if you can’t pay the extortionate prices. There are no ‘James herriot’s’ these days, that put the animals first, and charged the client what they could afford or did free treatments, more’s the pity…We pet owners all want to have a basic caring vet. Most of us don’t need a supervet. God help you if your animal gets ill out of hours. £240 to walk in the door before any treatment! Every vet who put money before animals by joining Vetpartners or other large companies needs to take a good look at themselves and hang their heads in shame. Vetpartners makes huge profits on the back of us caring pet owners. I hope that other people take the time to complain to their local MP’s in the hope that something will be done. At the moment vets have the upper hand on us owners charging what they like. As the vet prices go up then the insurance goes up accordingly. As a footnote always ask for an itemised bill for anything you pay, and send this bill to the local MP. There will be strength in numbers if we all unite.

DISGRACEFUL so called vets

I used Paddons PE140DF As one of my cats had an accident! £500 later my cat was MISDIAGNOSED !as I contacted a referral vet to get a QUOTE to repair a FRACTURED pelvis. Grove vets said " FREE to view xrays for a Quote"! Grove Vets said " NO FRACTURE"! I have now received a Bill from PADDONS asking for £93.24 for sending MY xrays I paid £500 for! It was agreed from BOTH sides there was NO CHARGE! I would like to know WHAT is this charge for?? I am DISGUSTED with corporate VETS as MANY animals MUST be SUFFERING due to your OUTRAGEOUS prices for MISDIAGNOSING & obviously general things the average pet owner can NOT afford! Especially when your turnover is in EXCESS of £36MILLION! I sent emails DIRECT to vetpartners and so far been totally IGNORED!!

It's morally bankrupt

It's morally bankrupt, literally a 5 minute consultation for an anti sickness drug. Over £360. At that rate they could earn nearly 4.5k an hour per vet. I realise these guys are in it to make a profit but this is robbery, not a moral or ethical model.

It was also anything but an emergency service as we waited 2 hours to get our dog seen. Really hacked off, it's not the money, it's the sick feeling in my stomach that we've been taken advantage of when in a vulnerable situation.

Park Vets Cardiff

Park Vets Cardiff (Sanatorium Road) is part of the VetPartners Group.
To date, I have been waiting 4 months for them to send my pet's medical history to my insurance company, for them to be able to process my claim.
Park Vets have been contacted by both me and Animal Friends to chase this up, with no success to date.
So - I am still waiting, after 4 months, for my claim to be processed and receive payment, all because Park Vets will not send fax or email my pet's history

CHANTRYVETS

CHANTRYVETS - PART OF THE VETPARTNERS
During my visit, I agreed to a total cost of £223.00 plus VAT based on Chantry Vets' previous acceptance to claim expenses directly from my insurance company, RSPCA.
However, I was later provided with an estimated cost of £340.00, which included food and medication, and I was expected to pay the total amount despite not having collected the medicine and food and being informed that Chantry Vets refused to use my insurance company RSPCA.
I requested an amended invoice, but instead, Chantry Vets started to send letters requesting to pay the outstanding balance. The practice, also, never issued the invoices and today has appointed 'ControlAccount" to recover an amount which is double what I have agreed to pay.
I have a printed estimate, but nevertheless. I am contacting Citizen Advice. This is in violation of the Consumer Acts and also a failure in the duty of care one expects from a Veterinary Practice.
