The Village Inn at Shaw Ridge - Starbucks Cafe. I found the staff at Village In Shaw Ridge extremely professional and helpful, Jackie, who works in Starbucks cafe is always welcoming, cheerful and helpful. She is a credit to the staff and the Village Inn as a whole. A great asset to the establishment
Stop Press: I also found the gym staff very professional. My personal trainer, ROB, like Jackie in the cafe, is always at hand to offer professional advice. Since attending the gym I have lost over a stone in weight thanks to Rob's expertise

The staff at Village by Village were always positive, optimistic and flexible. They made me feel very safe and supported. All volunteers can shape their stay in the way they find will suit them and the village best, which is great. The children and teachers in the village we were kind, welcoming and fun to be around.

I learned a lot from the directors of operations and staff about Ghanaian culture and about the charity in general. The charity plays a huge role in bettering the lives of people in rural Ghanaian villages and it was amazing to be a part of it. Volunteering with a smaller charity such as this one feels especially rewarding, as you can more clearly and closely see the differences the staff and volunteers make.

I would love to go back to Abenta one day, leaving after 6 weeks was very emotional! I thoroughly recommend taking part in this experience, it was so special and I will never forget it.

Very caring staff
My experience in Ghana was amazing. The team was very protective, ensuring that I was safe at all times (I occasionally did things outside the rules which allowed me to spread a bit further afield). Everyone was very welcoming and willing to share their experiences and perspectives. The charity does work in several local communities and this allowed me to experience a range of ways to help plus allowing me to meet several people, Ghana is a lovely country - amazingly friendly people, really keen to share their experiences with the Western traveler.

I had a fantastic time in Abenta. I taught in the village school and undertook a photography project, both of which are very rewarding. Rural Africa, as you would expect is a culture shock. However, the people in Abenta are lovely and the children are always smiling. I have learnt a lot about life in rural Ghana. The projects run by Village by Village are very worthwhile. I had first hand experience of the positive changes that they have made to the lives of the people in Abenta. The team in Abenta are very committed to their work. I was made to feel welcome and an important part of the team. I want to go again!

I had a thoroughly enjoyable time volunteering with Village by Village. The staff and other volunteers were incredibly welcoming and supportive. I wish I stayed longer, but in the two weeks I was with Village by Village, I was able to witness the amazing difference the Charity were making to children’s lives.

It was fascinating to jump into a completely different culture and way of living by working and staying with the charity during the week and by using my time on the weekends to explore different places in Ghana.

I loved every minute and would recommend anyone to go out and stay with the guys at Village by Village.

I have only given three stars because I am from Yorkshire.
The charity is doing its utmost to achieve its vital objectives and i was proud to play a part in this for a while. My hosts were flexible and willing to take on new ventures like the welcome addition of Ghanaian dishes to the menu. I enjoyed the exchange of views and learnt from the dedicated staff. I was able to avoid 'voluntourism' . As to Ghana, every day brought something quirky or dramatic or emotional or funny.
It was unforgettable .
